So cute.
I haven't forgotten, but I don't see it bothering Yuzu, nor anyone who chose not to focus on trivial things but rather on important stuff like training, health and competition. The matters in the earlier years of 2000 were more serious and annoying. You have a very short memory. Denis Ten versus Yuzu, sounds familiar? Yuzu let go, Denis is still making it a hit in his interviews. Also, Patrick is hardly controlling what he says when things go wrong for him. All of this is no way a product of imagination.:dev3:
What... the... ??
I'm lacking language skills so I can't explain it in details, but yes, I believe that coach greatly influences his pupils and their tastes in FS.This is something that really baffles me. Is it sour grapes for Mishin? Yuzuru's a technical wizard, able to do stuff Mishin's students can only dream of. He's loved by the audience (not only Japanese) and commentators which implies considerable performance skills. Or is it realy the fact that one of these comentators is Tarasova? Because how can he pass that attitude to his pupils? "Listen, kid, Hanyu is nothing special. Don't be like him. Don't do those +3GOE jumps that judges love. Don't have the audience going crazy for you. Don't win all those gold medals."
There is A LOT of jealousy and envy in this sport, even when expressed indirectly- it still exists, on all levels. But there is a lot of admiration, love and support too. You can't deny first but should not forget the second. That's all I can say.
I love the fact that Yuzu has good words to sy about his rivals, he respects their strong skills, always praising them in interviews. He's a great athlete and gentleman.:luv17:

Yuzuru is technical wizard, however he is everything which is NOT Mishin's style and technic. According to Professor, Yuzu is too flexible ("wormlike body structure"), so he shoudln't have good jumps by the laws of biomechanics, but still... he jumps better than Mishin pupils with "right" body structure and "right" technic.
Also don't forget Mishin's neglect of "bantiki i poofiki" (I don't remember how it was translated, but it means every small things which are not jumps (transitions, movements, program interprtation, facial expressions). On the contrary, Yuzuru and Orser do care a lot about programs, linking of the elements in one story, small details, complicated transitions into jumps etc.
I believe it's not easy for an experienced and authoritative coach to embrace the idea that your technic is not working for some reason (Arthur left, Liza, Sasha, Arthur D., junior girls has serious technical problems). Probably his displeasure came out in this interview
I haven't been able to come here as much as I did before (school is killing me XD) but I just want to say that I can't wait to Skate Canada!, probably I won't be able to watch him live but I'm really excited
I found these. He always looks so gentle on your UA.

Yes it was Keegan Messing.
I think Yuzu skate may have gotten too close to the boards and his blade hit it, causing him to fall.
Medal ceremony view from another angle. Yuzu imitating Misha at 03:21. I laughed a lot.

In this angle you can see it better. So dramatic
ICYMI, seems like Japanese TV re-air (?) Autumn Classic 2016 (this video is only Yuzu's part).
There are some unaired bits of some behind-the scene footage, this video also includes full performance of Sp+FS, Kiss and Cry post-SP+FS, bits of medal ceremony and post SP+FS interview.

Keiji Tanaka's words about Yuzuru: https://twitter.com/Iron_Klaus/status/785847354687647745
This is the source of Kenji's Room (part 1, 2 and 3)
http://www.jsports.co.jp/press/article/N2016101112383006.html
Keiji was referring to "Yuzuru" so many times in the program. I wanted to count how many times he said "Yuzu".
And, its video http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4wzl4w_161011-kg-yz_sport
When they talk about skating, Yuzu asks, "How's the Quads doing?" and Keiji says "Not doing well."
Also, he was recounting his early career and various milestones. Keiji, Yuzu and Ryuju were direct contemporaries and went up the ranks together during their novice and Junior eras.
Keiji was talking about how he always felt like he had to catch up because Yuzu was the first to land the 2A, the 3Lz, 3F, 3A etc out of the group, and each time he'd think 'Yabai!' (uh, oh!) and try to land the next jump.
Kenji mentions that he won the National Athletic Meet (or Sports Festival) (国民体育大会, shortened into 国体 Kokutai) and Keiji said, "That's only cause Yuzu wasn't there that year."
Behind the first successful quad loop in (competition) history -brief translation of main points in video:
1) Snippets from Yuzuru’s Autumn Classic, SP and FS.
2) Last season, Hanyu’s quad jumps were toeloop and salchow. This season, he adds a quad loop, a jump that takes off with the right foot. It is a jump that is more difficult and has a higher base value (12 points) than the toeloop (10.3) and salchow (10.5).
3) We look at the story behind that successful quad loop.
In this scene from 5 years ago (2011), 16 year-old Hanyu was practising the quad loop. At that time, he was learning 2 kinds of quad jumps and he sometimes challenged the quad loop.
4) In 2014, 19 year-old Hanyu said he practised the quad loop just to challenge himself, but does not intend to include it in competition.
5) Last year, in 2015, he said:
–I am thinking that I want to include the quad loop.
–the younger skaters are coming up.
–the number of quads will definitely increase.
Q: Your goal is a gold medal at the next Olympics. If the quads don’t increase, it will be hard?
–You can’t keep up (if you don’t increase the quads).
6) Just as what he predicted, last season, the quads in men’s figure skating progressed. China’s Boyang Jin (18 years old) has a quad lutz as his weapon. It is the most difficult quad jump done so far. [scene from Nov 2015, NHK Trophy]
7) This year January, Hanyu said (at 4:00 of video, in the car):
–it did not take up that much time (to be able to jump quad loop).
–the control of it is difficult.
–it’s hard to express it in words, you have to enter the jump with a ‘shuuu~t’. (laughs)
8) Actually, last season’s World Championships (April), he thought of putting in the quad loop. But due to an injury of the left foot, he put off this challenge. From April, he needed 2 months to recuperate. Then last month (Sept), he showed a splendid quad loop in open practice. He said the 4Lo, which uses the right foot for take-off, puts less stress on the left foot compared to other jumps. So he was able to start practising it earlier (after recovery from left foot injury).
9) Then, at his first competition of this season, Autumn Classic, SP, he succeeded in the very first quad loop of official competition. But he made a mistake in the quad salchow combination jump. He was very dissatisfied with his performance.
“I want to practise as soon as possible.” (I have translated his interview in a previous post.)
10) His next competition is Skate Canada at the end of Oct.
—-brief translation by me; video thanks to YzRIKO
* I laughed when I heard him talk about the jump with his favourite word 'shuuu~t’. ^^ (There was one talk show in 2014 where Nobunari Oda asked him how to do a particular jump and Yuzu said 'just go shuuu~t’, and poor Nobu said, “What is 'shuuu~t’?? I don’t understand!!!”) ^^
(tumblr source with my thanks!)
Here it is, please use google translate but it is hard to understand: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/931023
The title is: "Japanese Gagarin takes new heights"
OK. The journalist said that Yuzuru's jump was much better than Krasnozhon's, but Yuzuru didn't manage to skate the rest of his programs without mistakes, and his question was whether it was 4Lo which affected him.
Rukavitsyn's answer was that 4Lo is a very difficult jump since it's not a toepick jump but an edge one, and it requires special control and cold-blooded approach. The skater must not rush the jump too soon - it requires a perfect balance of all body parts taking part in it. The slightest mistake can ruin Quad loop, the skater will either underrotate or fall. These mistakes can crop up due to stress during competitions. An athlete can concentrate on 4Lo too much, and once it's done he can relax due to euphoria. Hanyu's mistakes are probably due to this cause. But the season has barely started - it's clear that Yuzuru needs time to get used to his 4Lo.
Question: So Hanyu wasn't just experimenting with the jump and won't give it up?
R: No, I'm sure it wasn't just an experiment. I've seen Hanyu jump 4Lo before, it wasn't his ultimate goal. He does it easily enough, if easily can be used about such an element. YUzuru has time and resources to include 4Lo into his programs and not lose points while doing it. I think he'll go on executing the element. He might want to correct his program - put an easier jump after 4Lo or increase the pause before the second element. There are a lot of options.
News section with Shoma uno and he mentioned Yuzuru here. There is Yuzuru there as well but my Japanese is LOL. Anyone can help translate what they said?
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4xl8uo_161015-%E5%BD%BC%E3%81%8B%E3%82%89%E8%A6%8B%E3%81%9Fshoma-shoma%E3%81%AE%E5%BD%BC%E3%81%B8%E3%81%AE%E6%80%9D%E3%81%84_sport
Yuzuru said that shoma is great skater, with jumps and good presentation. He commented his flip .
Shoma said Yuzuru is perfect senpai, Yuzuru is all rounded skater there is a huge gap between them, he goes 1 step up Yuzu goes further, he does step up again Yuzu does more and makes gap bigger , he said he's trying to catch up but Yuzu keeps going so he has a lot to do.

He looks great!
Seems like today was Misha's last day at the TCC. Could that person on the right be Yuzu? Too bad we didn't get a selfie.
Every time someone at TCC posted a clip/photo, our eyes immediately scanned the surrounding...fans zoom in, slow mo etc.
Two more pictures of Yuzu with Misha from his weibo. They look like they had fun as always!

His last EX, especially the one skated at Boston gives me shivers every single time I watch him. Such incredible expression. I remember I showed it to an old dancer friend of mine who doesn't watch skating and she was stunned, especially by this part from 2:30 onwards and we talked how it was true dance on ice.
better quad loop than this ?

How does he do it? I've watched the first loop easily a hundred times. Even watching him walk is a delight. Although this one is a bit longer♥ and in slow motion for your viewing pleasure
Yuzu saying in spanish See you tomorrow! ¡Hasta mañana!.
So cute! He is capable of pronouncing well the sound ñ, which I think it's difficult for non spanish speakers.
It seems like a lot of videos have been taken down.
Could I check if anyone here has a copy of this video?
I agree with you. I was not going to buy any of his calendars as they are rather expensive and I've spent a lot already for magazines/books (they are expensive too. About 2,000 yen each.) But this calendar has very good shots. I can't resist buying it

Maybe we should spread this post to new fans who find Yuzuru and skating interesting thanked to Yuri on ice: http://chibura.tumblr.com/post/151669176160/hello-all-recently-i-have-seen-quite-a-lot-of
You know, Yuzuru's air position is often not mentioned and is underrated but it is actually so pretty and tight and straight and beautiful. Seeing many men and ladies jump with air position that is all over the place makes me really appreciate his, thus I feel like mentioning this.
EDIT :
Actually, a lot of his other qualities as a skater are often underrated and not mentioned. People are often fixated by his quads and jumps (which I can't blame cause they are top of the field and are things of beauty)
Spins : From current active male skaters, there is not much who is actually a better spinner than him in my opinion. I can think of a few but his spin is definitely one of the best. Fabulous speed, centered with difficult position and arms movement/choreography matching the music. <3
Transitions : King of transition in and out of elements tbh.
Skating skills : Honestly among current active males, aside Chan, can't think of a lot of guys who have better skating skills than him.
Steps : Though I can name a handful of skaters with perhaps better steps, his step is also top-class.
Not mentioning artistry cause it is subjective. But personally I think he has very good interpretation skills, musicality and is very artistic.
Last year, there's AnonSkaterGuy from Fsuniverse saying the kind of boot Yuzuru is wearing (Edea Ice Fly) make it really hard to point toe. Here are some extracts of his post:
----------------------------------------------------
[[[You can't point your toe in Risport RF2 Super boots. I want to say Ice Flies (Edea) are almost as impossible as the Risports.
The boots aren't designed to make you look good. They're designed to make technical elements more efficient, by putting you forwards in the boot and eliminating some of the "roll to toe" that you have to do in other boots as well as keep our foot in a more optimal position to vault into toe jumps.
..........
I cannot point my toe at all in the Risport RF2 Supers I have, or the Edea Concertos. Period. Edea has improved the Concerto by lowering the back a little and padding it, but the Ice Fly is still rather high (this is what Hanyu wears).
Edea is made by the people who used to own Risport, so it doesn't surprise me that the two share some design characteristics (how they look is irrelevant compared to how they "fit," IMO).
..........
I have Risport and Edea boots here... And there is no way you can flex those boots that way... This is why Edea added the padding to the Concerto, they were absolutely horrible until they added that.]]]]
-------------------------------------------------
Yuzuru has changed his boots to Edea Piano this season, and if you read Edea's description of this new boot, it's even more stiff than Edea Ice fly (piano is 95 and ice fly is 90), how can he point his toe like ballet dancers as those fans demand? Lol
Ice dancers' boots are softer so they can somewhat point their toe actually. Boots for top ice dancers are different from boots for singles and pair skaters for sure. You can see that some ice dancers are critized for their toe, which is still too much but it's kind of legit. Ice dancers don't have to jump so their boots have lower cut and softer, the heels are higher than boots for single and pair skaters a bit so it helps them with point toe as well.
Top skaters are recommended not to use boots with high heels because it makes them harder to jump. Yuzuru wears boot covers so you will never see his heels but I have looked up some of his photos in practice and see that his heels are average, quite low. Some skaters who are too short wear boots with quite high heels though (look at Satoko and Shoma), it helps with their extensions but it's wrong to say they point their toe, more likely their boot point the toe for them.
If I remember correctly, Tracy didn't say Yuzuru couldn't point his toe, she just said that he had other things to worry (to land his jumps, get levels) so he is exhausted during his difficult programs so not enough time to care about point toe. I think she was being political correct. If it were me I would have told TSL that: "why don't you try to use his boots, jump quads and point toe so we can see how you do it?"
Well, they do have similar hairstyle. Just out of curiosity, is it because of this tumbr post? ---> http://fulcherdepp.tumblr.com/post/150074960286
From Misha Ge twitter :
"Its great to skate with Javi & Yuzu on normal session(without so much things going around)Just a peaceful training feel with great skaters"

Seeing Yuzuru with Misha and Max on the podium, I guess you all would agree, Yuzuru should revise his height in his personal data. Misha is said to be 175cm and Max is 173cm in their data. No way Yuzuru is still 171cm.
Anyway I noticed about the height too! Maybe on skating boots it is trickier to tell because perhaps there are inserts/different height in heels/whatever it is. However I noticed he is generally taller than Javi even without skates on and in Javier's ISU bio he is listed as 173 cm. So Yuzuru should be 174-175 cm now?
So I don't know If anyone is watching this show here, probably some but lmfao (?)
They for sure aren't letting any FS world detail slide.

people react and feel differently to music. Some people might be absolutely shaken and moved deeply by Yuzuru's music and some might feel it is monotonous and doesn't built and there is nothing wrong with either opinions.
If you truly think that your feelings and your opinions are the only ones valid then take your own advice and ask yourself why.
I personally come to this forum to fangirl and keep updated on my favourite skaters but also to read fellow fans opinions and analyses, what people think of certain performances, choreographies, musics. To exchange you know.
You dismissing people as haters/unable to feel when they make valid points (that we can all agree or disagree with that's not the question) about music selection, composition, choreographic rules and program building is vain and arrogant.
I'M DECEASED.
Cuteness overload.
This makes me think how odd is that part of a whole generation will grow up idolizing Yuzuru.
Last time I've noticed he was still that breathless nuts kid with a horrible bowl cut falling on that damn 4Sal. I feel like an accomplished mother.

An article that didn't even get Mirai's nationality right is not precisely the most reliable source :noshake:
And well, that's Mishin's opinion, but I don't think it was rude. He did say he respects Yuzu a lot, he simply sees more value in what Nathan's doing. Figure skating would be very boring without differences in opinion
