My first post here. Yuzu seemed out of breath in the practice. I am worried about his stamina.

Praying for our boy.

How many 4Lo he attempted or landed at today's practice?

That looks like a 4T? FWIW, his 4T seems to be doing pretty well in practices so far. It's his edge jumps that are giving him problems now...

Yep looks like a 4T to me too. I am not so worried about 4S, pray for 3A, his best friend, to be honest.

Welcome to the forum!
Oh he's definitely still working on his stamina but keep in mind, he's done a quad, a combo at least before going for the FS run through so that also takes its toll. Fingers crossed for tonight.

I've been feeling low and heartbroken all day today, but whatever - he looks stunning on ice, and that was a beautiful skate. I'll root for him no matter what!
Good luck for tonight - I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed in bed. If I get to sleep!

In this interview it is explained that he knew something went wrong with lo but instead of natural fall and rotation, he did differently, it was natural reaction of his body to protect himself from injury it seems kind of some "PTSD"

and because left foot injury is still under treatment he gets less training 5 days in a week no more than 2 h on the ice, because he is protecting his left instep sometimes his left ankle and right foot is hurt, (easier to get hurt) same happened before scac his had small injury on ankle .. it seems...

So he instinctively opened the arm drawing to the body and stopped the rotation.
about 4S, he didn't do the second 3T because he tried to avoid injury. It's his body (instinctively) reacted.

That's concerning that he is still nursing his previous injuries. Maybe after the experience at Skate Canada, he might make little compromise and skate within his current condition. Maybe give up the 4Lo or do 3 quads including the 4Lo for now until he's in better condition. Small little concessions that may give him more time to heal and prolong his time in the sport :sad21:

BTW, do you feel he's improved with his skating skills? in this cometition, it seems his edges get deeper and the change of edges get smoother. i think it's the result of the training of off season with Tracy. Further, he seemed to realize the important of skating at Worlds 2016.

I don't know. It does look like his edges and flow were better (this is more evident in the Stsq part for me) but I feel he is slower than his usual self (still fast just not usual Yuzu)? Maybe because he is not going all out though. I am not so sure.

My friend at SC says in practice Yuzuru is faster than others almost 2 times. If anything it's just mentality affecting him.

Yeah he is still faster than others of course, but I don't know it is just my impression that he was slower than his usual self (as in I saw him being faster than how he was today). Could be the camera, could be just my feeling or could be that he is taking it easy a bit.

He should take it easy now and again, I say!

Just rewatched him in the K&C with Brian after his SP. He looks so young and vulnerable with his hair slicked back. And Brian looks so worried about him -- I noticed he looked worried at the AC too this year, very different than he did in 2015. Guess we now know why. :(

I don't care how he scores tonight; I just want him to not do further damage to his body.

The videos of tonight broadcast in japan are uploaded!

This is the video of his 6 minutes warmup, sp performance and interview. Sweetwater gave the explanation below already. thanks!

Finished watching TV Asahi version of Men’s short program. They covered only top 6 finishers and added some fluffs including a short interview of Yuzu on his injury (though there was nothing new) and on his SP with a little bit of the making of Let’s go crazy program and the white costume.
There were also some backyard shots, and the way he warmed up looked quite normal. I could see a lot of jumping, air singing. TV Asahi version of 6 minutes warm up was focused mainly on Yuzu. In these warm ups on and off ice, he looked much better than he did at Worlds 2016, Japanese Nationals 2014, NHK 2014 where he had to compete hiding severe pain, health problem, or insecurity. So I’m guessing maybe he is just trying to catch up now.

After the short, he commented that he had already figured out where to fix about the jumps he missed, although he didn’t say exactly how. He also said he’ll do his best tomorrow.

Nobunari Oda was the commentator for Men’s short, and he mentioned that there was a time Yuzu was wondering if he would be able to jump again. Hearing this made me think about how far he has come in a short time.

In the making of the white costume he looked a little bit excited. He said something like there should be a microphone in this hand, while watching his hand in that sleeve.

These fluffs will probably be uploaded and translated later by someone, so this is just a brief report.

Looking at the slow mo from the Japanese broadcast, it seems like he crossed his legs above his knee for the 4Loop? It's such a tricky jump to execute...

I'm also reeeally missing the oomph from his board push off this season...
