Probably because it's rarely seen and actually a lot of people have never seen it so during the program, in the moment, their mind goes to what they can relate to, which is a pop, without actually thinking of his movements.

I understand, but it still doesn't make sense to me, sorry
Because he goes to it with such an open stance and without closing his position at all, it would be the weirdest pop ever. A pop was last thing I'd think about it so when I read people thought it was that I went... :scratch2:

Oh, thank you. If they're indeed South African then the accent makes sense, but why would South Africa be covering figure skating  Lol
I think it's awesome. I am still pissed at Eurosport for not covering Men's event.:dev2:

So I will come back again with this - his jumps technique has improved. He had in the past that loose aproach to jumps that was sometimes setting him off axis/wobbly on take off, but his jumps are now looking soo rock solid. There is no longer that looseness going for quad toe, it's just perfect technique execution. The same goes for 4S, for just milisecond he now stops before starting three turn to get perfect balance.
It's amazing at his level of jumps he can still improve them

I got it. He'd never ditch a program mid season.
I don't want him to change his SP for the Oly season. Better have it done long beforehand.

Agreed. His SPs are always better the second season when he lets them "cook". PW was never better until GPF and Olys 2014. Chopin was never better until GPF and Worlds 2016. It's a good trend for him IMO. I enjoy the ex but not as much to see it become competitive.

And NBC only showed ladies and 2 ice dance teams and only gave us a recap of mens. Chartrand and Tukt got more airtime than Yuzu and Chan. It's a strange world we live in.

I think him having to "rework" his jumps for zero after his injury may have helped him in that aspect. Although his technique was wonderful to begin with :)

I agree and with xibsuarz above, I actually mentioned this before, in the practice thread, where someone was commenting how sure he seems these days and how good his jumps look. I think it was his injury and what he talked about, having to start from 1Lo and working on theory, how the jumps affect the body, each other etc.

Tell me about it. NBC fails yet again. Decent coverage for SA but any other GPs and you'll be lucky if they show it at all. What I hate about is that unless you have Universal which most people including myself don't have. Why not broadcast the GP on NBC Sports instead?

Yeah I have both Universal and NBC SN, but I had to stay up until 1:00 am to watch the mens (I don't trust my DVR). And I'm ready to see his short on the tv, not on youtube.

Not sure if this has been posted (if it does I will delete), but Nick Verrreos, former contestant of Project Runway and fashion commentator, wrote a commentary about costume of figure skaters from Skate Canada

SP
Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan Short Program to Let's Go Crazy by Prince: At first, when Yuzuru came out, I was like "What the Heck!!??" and then, the Prince music came on and I was like "Done and done!". Hanyu wore a jumpsuit that resembled a white shirt and pants outfit with a multi-colored embroidered vest with black, white and purple being the dominant colors. There was also a nice "Prince"-inspired detail on his pants. The whole look was right for the program and 80's cool enough to make fashion fans happy.

FS
Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan Free Skate to Hope and Legacy by Jo Hisaishi: For his FS, Yuzuru wore this ensemble of black stretch velvet pants with a multicolored green, creme, royal blue and black chiffon top. It was VERY Yuzuru for sure; he does love multicolored ombre-ing and cascading ruffle detail. I'm going to be honest here: If it wasn't Yuzuru Hanyu, I might be critiquing it and saying it's tacky and soooo 80's. But, because it is him, I actually think it works. Somehow with his height and beautiful skating, he is able to pull this off. What do you guys think? Do you like???

Thanks for posting that! I think this quote, in particular, applies to many of Yuzuru's outfits

Same here- when they've done a recap they simply included a few EX numbers, no Men or Dance recaps at all. I mean...:tantrum:

This instagram account posted so many precious moments from the Gala practice, I can't compute.

One of my personal favourites is Chanyu  Look at the progress, look at them being polite with each other. I can feel the awkward. *single tear* I'm a sucker for friendly awkward rivalries.

My other favourites are the ones with Satoko plus Misha and the fancams of the EX practice for course.

If it was already posted sorry for being late.

Contrary to popular belief, I never think that they are somewhat bitter or hostile towards each other though. I think they are both just very competitive and probably really hates losing. So after one or the other lost, they probably are just not really in the mood to be all chatty to someone who just beat them; it will just be awkward haha.

That's cool. He seems to know the skaters a little bit... i just don't understand his opinion about Patrick's pajama costume, why he thinks it's "sexy"

I am pretty sure he follows Figure skating/ is a figure skating fan. I don't think this is the first blogpost about skating costume he made.
