He isn't claiming he was inspired by Johnny. He said

Full-Weir refers to style here. Johnny was always flamboyant; out there, stylish, extravagant. It's a language thing that's probably a bit confusing.
Johnny was not the only flamboyant figure skater ever. Prince's style was flamboyant too. Prince was not the only flamboyant artist out there. But the fact that this costume has no inteference with Johnny but is a tribute to Prince- a recently passed legend and icon- is the one to be named in an article written by designer. Designers have to respect the original idea and get to know more about it rather than base their publications on their only knowledge on who wears what in figure skating. Lots of ladies dresses are also copied from famous designers so before posting anything that you are being paid for- do your research. That is my point. I find it a huge disrespect to Prince and his heritage.

I just open the eurosport web page, to check the rostelecom coverage, and there it was, Yuzu's LP about to begin. I think I like more and more each time I watch it

Sorry about the spam, I just had to share;)

I think he used Johnny as he's a familiar skating name, that's all and known for his style (to this day). He is comparing styles of dress in skating. Anyway, we'll agree to disagree. I don't think this is in any way a big deal.

To me it is. He is paid for the article he is writing. It's not the same like writing with mistakes on your blog or a forum.

I have seen some repos of him doing 4lo3T on gala practice, now the question: what is he preparing?

(Remembering quad sals out of eagles last year)

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but according to a Japanese ISU judge (Nobuhiko Yoshioka) who gave a lecture about judging on Sunday, Yuzuru’s programs this season have the potential to score more than 340.

And have you all seen this? Robin Cousins and Yuzuru's delayed axel

Here's another fancam of the gala practice. It goes on for longer after his run-through and you can see him practice the 1A then 3A sequence

Someone also posted a report on tumblr a while ago on the interactions between Yuzu and Evgenia during the gala practice and so on and how the jump battle started. It's pretty cute to read.

Seriously this place moves too fast for me to keep up, phew

Here's my personal video made during Yuzuru's solo FS warm up, he popped his jump and said UWAH!

All the fans around me were squealing at how cute it was, at the end that's my voice, I didn't hear it properly at first so I had to ask my sister because she was aww'ing at him

No good pics because mostly he's too fast, I didn't bring a good camera except for my phone because I was afraid it would get confiscated, now I regret, every single picture I tried to get of Patrick or Yuzuru are blurs because they are really too fast

I don't know if it was mentioned but after his exhibition performance Yuzuru stayed in the kiss & cry and watched the video replay intently. https://twitter.com/QuadAxel3Toe/status/793590734842687490

About Let’s go crazy by Prince, he hadn’t listened to his music, so he continues to study about him looking into his videos and words through internet.

Among his words, he was inpired by the words like “you can find something leading to your success in your failare” (*note: i dont know the original words by Prince.)
“You might find me a perfect skater when you see the last years NHK cup and GPF only, but i hadnt had the perfect performances withought mistake until then. Challenge is my life and my passion is that i get stronger after the failure. I always keep this in mind that there’s no limitation, so i sympatized with his words very much.”

A fan serched Prince’s words which yuzu mentioned, but cant identify it. But she finds this site:

ANA’s new site was updated. The interview was held this summer. Im sure some translation site will show the whole translation later. As always, he talks about his earphones enthusiastically(lol). The photos are really nice. He seems cool and calm. This site has 3 pages, be sure to click all pages.

About free program, he says there’s not any certain character unlike last year’s Seimei and the music is lyrical piano piece (*note: at that time, his music was not revealed.). “I guess people will have each different view, but i would like to inspire “something” in the bottom of their hearts. SP and FP have totally different impressions with each other. I hope i will show each different side in one competition.”

TV Asahi posted this interview with Yuzuru after FS. Is there anything new or not translated before?

Here ya go.

Asahi: You’re in 2nd place here at Skate Canada for 2 seasons in a row. Any thoughts on that?
Yuzuru: I felt there were a lot of issues with my performances so I’ll have to tackle them one by one. Also, I don’t do well in the 1st GP every year so I need to increase my average score whilst considering about the peaking time.

A: You included a new type of quad in both the short and free and you said yourself that your programs are challenging. What did you think were your challenges at this competition?
Y: The 4S in the 2nd half became a double but I succeeded with the 4T after that for the first time in competition so that was an accomplishment. But that’s about it. There are areas that I feel I could have done more and areas that I need to do better so I am frustrated but I’m feeling that I’ll become stronger after each competition.

A: How do you feel about the current level of 4Lo?
Y: It’s not good. I want to say “it’s at its worst” tbh, but please edit that out (looking at someone of the left). Even if I do the 4Lo, as I said when I was interviewed after I arrived here, it’s only one of the quads for me and right now, I’m not jumping it in a way that I’m able to rotate it 4 times which is really unfortunate.

A: You said that you changed the way you prepared for the SP and FS. Did you achieve anything from them?
Y: I am 90% frustrated but I’m satisfied that I was able to skate through the 2nd half (of the FS) as a 2nd skater (of the group). I changed my rhythm during the 6 minute warm-up and it worked out. But I’m still in the testing phase and like I said, I’m still reviewing how I should prepare for official practices and things like that one by one and make preparations for the next competition by training well.

A: I feel that this competition and the result will make Hanyu-senshu stronger.
Y: I will be stronger. I’m not thinking about increasing or lowering my elements at all. I’ll never lower it. I’ll be on the attack and go forward 1 step, no 3 steps at a time.

A: You were 2nd here so it’s a good start to qualify for the GPF.
Y: Yes, every year. I’m frustrated to have lost to Patrick at Skate Canada but our scores are closer this year (laughs). There are certainly things I could have done better but compared to last year, I was able to focus more and grow.

i dont know it’s already shared here, but what sounds new to me is he is saying he shall never highten or lower his layout for now.
Other part is almost the same. He got a firm sense of achievement compared with the last SC. He is “kuyashii”, but he has the feeling that he can get stronger by competition in the future; he was able to do well with stamina in the second order in FS; and so on.
He lauged at the last part saying that the score gap between patrick got smaller than last year.

I find this interview below (the next day of FS?) is interesting (around 2;50)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ewUGKJk8-Y

About FS, this music doesnt have any rough feeling of quad (he uses a mimetic word, “gatsugatsu”. the nuance is like this. quad is difficult technique, that’s why it may cause any feeling of unsofisticated, harsh, etc. But quad in this program hasnt any feeling like that.) he wants to get quad in the flow. The program which he is aiming for is as follows; When he watch his own performance, quad doesnt seem quad. quad itself feels a part of interpretation music.

ETA: mikaboo gives the translation above, thanks!

Sophie Moroi posted the below @YHIFG FB:

Here is the quick translation of the latest ANA interview (which Echo Cheng has already shared in a different post). Please note that I have translated only the actual comments made by Yuzuru, as the other parts are just facts that regular Yuzuru fans in this group should already be well aware of.

Original in Japanese: https://www.ana.co.jp/promotion/ready-for-take-off/yuzuru-hanyu/

Title: “Soul of a champion, who accepts destiny and transfigures it into power”
(The interview took place in late August in Japan.)

‘I haven’t been able to do any hard practice yet, but I don’t feel impatient. Since this is still a ‘pre-season’ [one season before the Olympic season], I would like to brush up high-level elements and complete them. The theme for this season is ‘Challenge’ again. At the time when I resumed the training on ice, I tended to jump Lutz and Loops many times as they give less burden on the left foot. I am slightly tempted to try 4Lz but it’s not realistic to include it in a programme at this moment.’

‘The short programme is a cheerful music with a high-tempo, so it would be great if audience can feel coolness and passion. On the contrary, the FS is different from the one for the last season which had a specific character; this year, it’s a piano music full of emotion. How to feel it would differ from persons to persons, but I’d like to wake up “something” that is lying at the bottom of one’s heart. They have completely different impressions, so I would like to show different aspects of respective programmes within the same competition.’
[Yuzuru didn’t give more details at it was still end of August.]

[For Yuzuru, travels have always been either for competitions are training. He has learnt something by travelling for numerous times between Japan and Canada.]
‘The flight to Toronto takes about 12 hours, so I have got used to long flights. Since participation in competitions abroad always requires taking flights, it has given me very good experience. In flights going to competitions, I basically make it a rule to sleep, to avoid jet-lag. During flights after competitions, I sometimes look back my performance and identify next assignments, but it often happens that I do games and get really relaxed (laughter).’

[When asked about his ‘flight-mate’, he enthusiastically responded with his eyes shining.]
‘My ‘flight-mate’ is earphones. I use different ones depending upon my feeling, pieces of music to listen to, and scenes. I sometimes choose sound-proof ones or those that fit [to my ears] best, but the most important factor is the quality of sound. With one type, I can hear delicate sounds or “sounds that fall out” [sorry, the meaning unclear to the translator!]. Or, when I am tired, I choose the earphones that give me mild sounds. When I want to motivate myself by listening to aggressive music, the ones that are good at clarity of sounds. I always carry with myself 5 or 6 sets [of earphones], or even 8 sets at most.’

[When shown photos of himself with earphones on] he smiled and said
‘Oh, my photos with earphones on are so new! I am so happy!’
‘I listen to the music used for programmes for numerous times as part of daily life, and make sure that I can figure out with my own body that “oh, there is this sound here” or “ah there is that kind of sound”.’

[Asked as to how he keeps his motivation…]
‘I think it’s because [figure-skating] is versatile [or multifaceted]. Expression, skating skills, jumps, steps, spins, etc. it is a sport comprised with multiple aspects. To be sure, my major strengths are that each element can yield high quality and that there is no empty room between elements. But, I would like to learn the skating skills of other competitors whose edgework is excellent. There are lots of things to learn from other skaters who respectively have wonderful skills. Certainly, there is a certain difficulty to run as a top runner, but I don’t feel as if I were being chased in every aspect. Rather, I feel that I would like to catch up in this aspect, or that I am not defeated in this aspect. Feeling in this way, I tackle with my full strength the things that would grow myself, and therefore I can maintain the motivation to get better and to evolve even more.’

[As regards Pyeong-chang Olympics]
‘I do have a determination to get a gold medal by all means! It’s the same as what I feel for any other competitions; I would like to win any competition and make good performance at every competition. Be it the competition held only once per 4 years or the one held every year, it’s all the “same competition”. So, I am determined to get a gold medal definitely.’

[Being asked about his plan after winning the second gold medal…]
‘Well, what should I do? It would be good to get as many as possible ;-)’

There's a new podcast from Jackie Wong: https://twitter.com/rockerskating/status/793785385331650560 Is there anyone who listens- could you please let us know if there was anything new about Yuzu? (He says he talks about him). Thanks in advance!
Mostly are their opinions or news we already know.
Around the minute 9, Lynn Rutherford said she talked to Brian and he said that B. wants Yuzuru at his best at worlds, but Y. doesn't back off. In her opinion Y. is very emotional towards the quad loop, she uses adjectives like beloved (But wasn't here a recent interview in which he said it was just another quad? ) and he is committed to perform it. She said he hears the footsteps of the younger skaters. Then Jackie said Y. last season pretty much demonstrated that if he goes clean he is unbeatable. She was a little less definitive, something like very difficult, but that there was competion between Y. and Javier, and with Patrick if he can get the 4Sal out in the short and the long.
I'll update if I hear more.

Sano Minoru's point of view (i can't remember which video now) was that yuzu really wanted to land the loop in autumn classic in competition and that's why the mistakes on the other jumps, whereas at SC he wanted to land the other jumps too and thus the loop mistakes. In any case, from all the interviews it sounds like he's almost there.

Since Nathan will be at NHK, Yuzu will get another chance to look at a 4Lz up close and personal (I hope they don't try to have a jump-off :noshake:)

No way! Nathan can go on out-jump himself, but Yuzuru will just observe his 4Lz and Flip.

People who make a problem out of everything....:bang:
Now this is a personal insult and is rude. If you don't care about recognition and the impact of the big artist and prefer to stay on the certain level of cultural knowledge- fine. But saying these kind of words to the other person who does... Being careless is not nice so that you know.
