Just when I am getting used to all this blinding white??? I think maybe some detail on his leg will change, so we can see him better. Personally, I'd take a totally different style to the whole thing, but he is who he is and I doubt he will do that. I just hope he keeps his hair like that :)

I'd love the costume to stay - he looks cool in it! But people do complain they have difficulty seeing that elusive creature on ice...

I just tell myself that he's going to keep the costume unchanged (:palmf:) that way I won't be disappointed if/when he actually keeps it for the rest of the season.

I was at SC and loved the costume on him, but it really doesn't look that good on the ice. The detail on the jacket is beautiful.

It's getting rather old to watch the same drama over and over. Especially when you know there's no real drama behind it. :)
Let's see some new stuff, for a change!
So what are your bets, does Yuzu change his SP costume?

My money on him staying with white.

At least until GPF. Aside of 14/15 has he change his costume mid season? I don't recall any.

There were two version of Seimei but I think he used the first only in exhibition; otherwise he seems to stick to his costume fiercely, let's hope he does the same this time!

Erm... no. He's been loyal to his costumes.
Chopin costume seemed to have changed its tints, though...

I think he'll keep the white. It shows off his assets... and he himself said he likes to do things for his fans... right?

I think Seimei and Chopin (in 2014 I guess?) was more of an unfinished version modified rather than an actual costume change. So aside of POTO (because of obvious reason) he has yet to make a costume change hasn't he?

If anything he probably will just change his pants.... to.... PURPLE!

I think that'd look awful, sorry!

I love the white costume, but I'm also very easy when it comes to those.

So, keep it or change it, I'll probably be happy with it no matter what

As long as I get to see the skater :luv17:

I agree, somehow purple pants, white top with the vest? :noshake:
I think if he changes, he'll change the embroidery on the sides, make it more because that alone would help. Otherwise I doubt we'll see a change.

I read that as keep it orange for some reason and

Brief translation of what Yuzuru said:

The things I have to do keep on increasing and they might become more difficult to execute, but I think I can do them so I’ve never really felt that there is a limit.

I don’t think such things as “this is the limit” or “this is the most powerful program” exist in the world. I want to work hard on the qualities that only I can do, layouts that only I can do and on expressions that I can only do.

His 6 minutes warm up at SC by the Japanese TV (so the video focused on yuzu). It is the first time ive watched it. From the scene he came and put on the gloves, he was like a star. Every moment is full of his passion and concentration. His face, profile, back… He seems to get handsome more. (Another thing, I find his white pants of SP not so bad, but now I confirm that the black pants make his physique look much better...)

Translation below of a new article on the P&G website 19-Nov by Angelica Yuzu @YHIFG FB. Source: P&G, myrepi:

Yuzu answered 2 more questions from fans (submitted to P&G during the off-season).

Q1. I am a high school student. When I study, my concentration power does not last. Hanyu-senshu, how do you improve your concentration power during competitions?

YH: I was also not really the type that can focus a lot on studying. Even now, when I write my university reports, I still think 'ah I don't like this'. (laughs) It is hard to focus, isn't it? In my case, when I can't concentrate, I just try to do it for one minute. Either one minute or 30 seconds. In the case of reports, I just try writing one sentence for the time being. I try writing it, and then if the next thought does not connect, I rest a while. 2 minutes or 3 minutes. Then I write one more sentence, and I continue to do that, and after 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, before I realise it, I have been concentrating and there have been many times like that.

Competition is different from studying, there is nervousness. Figure skating is not a sport that is done alone, there are many people cheering for you and supporting you. So I think it is easier to concentrate.

Q2: Among your programmes until now, which are the ones that you like very much? (Of course, you have feelings for all of them but is there any that you felt 'I love this choreography!' ?)

YH: When I was 5 years old, in my first competition, I skated to the opening theme of 'Ultraman'. At that time, I really liked Ultraman and so it was really memorable. And 'Sing Sing Sing' too, I have liked it from young. My coach said, "If you like it that much, shall we try to skate to it?" I was so happy, and even now I still like it.

I enjoy skating 'Change' by Monkey Majik and the Yoshida Brothers. It is a very intense programme that has almost no rest, very fun and I like it very much. 'Romeo and Juliet' of 2011, which was the year of the earthquake disaster, was also very memorable. And then, Phantom of the Opera, a programme which I had wanted to do for a long time...... if I go on listing, it will be endless. (laughs)

Speaking of GOE, a bit from ESP ITA commentary from today (during Han Yan FP Skate to Romeo&Juliet Soundtrack, MA = Max Ambesi, AD = Angelo Dolfini)

(Sorry, video quality is quite low & video is longer than necessary)

[First they speak about Han Yan difficulties in last year or so, then at around 1:05, mandatory "revival" moment]

AD: "On men's field, this soundtrack is linked to unforgettable memories"

MA: "The most beautiful memory from Nice 2012 World Championship"

AD: "Hanyu's free... a very young Hanyu..."

[Then, the GOEs part, while waiting the scores they speak about Han Yan jumps and their quality and how a skater with a great 3A has a good advantage because a 3A+GOE is worth like a so-and-so quad, around 2:00]

MA:" As Hanyu - the one who skated on this music, charming everybody in 2011/12 - has been saying since forever: with my two triple axels in second half, I've got two quads more."

AD: "Elements for him that are worth +2/+3, he is right."

MA: "But lately on evaluation for that element (3A) something inconsistent has been happenning: if someone put a spread-eagle before that, it's automatically +3 because that spread-eagle. If someone put [note: actual word is stronger: "si inventa", it does give more the sense of pulling a magic trick) an outside back-counter, it's +1."

AD: "These things happening are not right."

MA: "What's the most difficult thing? Explain it."

AD: "Without doubt doing it from a back-counter."

MA: "But why is it not appreciated?"

AD: "It's harder to understand [its difficulty]"

MA: "But judges should be prepared to recognize such things..."

AD: "I do agree."

Has nobody here read a recent interview of Yoshida-san, a husband of Nanami Abe?
I read it and I hope somebody good at English will translate it though I forgot the name of a magazine.
(I bought so many magazines that I can't find it right now!)

Yoshida-san says he and his wife didn't know about Yuzu's going to Cricket.
He also says his wife often can't see Yuzu's competition live, but she always watches the recording eagerly, and then they talk about his program together drinking sake.
Once, Yuzu asked Nanami-sensei to watch his training (I think it's while he was back in Sendai),
but Nanami told him she couldn't unless Yuzu had a permission from Orser.
At the end of the interview, Yoshida-san says "Both Nanami and I care for Yuzuru as if he were our children. We love him."
Well, it's rare for us Japanese to use the word "love"(愛しています).
I was really touched by his word. I don't know why but I felt happy but also sad after reading his interview.
He also said that when Yuzu left for Canada once he got message from Yuzu asking to sharpen his blades again, he felt warmth in his heart and also got confused he didn't know if he should agree or not, then went to ask Nanami san and Nanami told him that he should definitely do it, to make him feel more comfortable, give some kind of family support sense of security, after that he always does it for him. I was very touched as well.

I read it, but I didn't buy it so I didn't want to bring it up It's from this magazine.

It was a really good interview and made me happy and sad too. OT, but I was surprised to find out that they have 3 children (I knew they had 2) and the eldest boy is the same age as Yuzuru.

After Raf's comments about one and two-foot skating and transition, I hope not. Choosing a place to train is not only about training environment, but skating ideals. Yuzuru's idea of skating is a balanced technical and artistic performance, with transition in-and out as well as in between elements. It is not only about his technical element but also good execution. That is why coach who majorly focused on tech (or the other way around, majorly on artistry) will likely won't suit him.

I was actually surprised that Raf was so cavalier in his interview about Ashley's lack of transitions. He was basically saying if the judges are giving her points for it anyway, then why bother? That is definitely not Yuzu's style lol.

my bets are change for GPF not now, he hasn't been in JPN to change them

Wasn't there some changes to his FP costume between ACI and SC? Like there was more green in the flappy part? :scratch3:

True, but I'm not sure his SP costume can be changed as gradually. You can't just dip the bottom of his pants into a dye...

Technically.... you can. Just having the bottom of his pants not white would make it more visible already, though a tie-dye look is probably not what they're going for. Not that I think they just dipped his FS costume into dye either.

The point was that he doesn't have to go back to Japan to get his costumes modified.
