Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Maybe it would be "significant" if he landed at least his new quad. And i don't see where it is a big improvement to try new things but to no be able to achieve consistently these new things. I have a tendency to see the glass as half-empty when others would see it as half-full. No drama to do.

I really should stop talking to you. You are either trolling, or just very very very different from me.

1. While he didn't execute some jumps well today, his new quad is the one that he landed. What are you even talking about?
2. I hope you do realise that "trying out new things" is the opposite of "being consistent". Being consistent is the process of turning these new things into matured skills. All the quad jumpers including Nathan failed a couple of times before nailing them. It's no magic. AND Yuzu's problem today is not just because of "trying out new things".
3. I don't even know where this glass come from. It's plainly wrong to judge a skater's performance based on one GPF without considering his background, health and past competitions.

We'll not talk again until our perception of figure skating is more alike.

The ignore list is there for a reason. Don't run around in circles people.

One fall-missed combo, and 2 pops. It wasn't a huge disaster by men's standard but it was pretty bad. Of course I didn't expect him to go clean but I wanted it to be better for his sake since I hate seeing him so sad in the K&C.

I kind of want Yuzu-Javi-Patrick to go 1-2-3 in that order at Worlds with no disasters lol

I agree, it was not a disaster but it was also not something I would call a great skate. The pops are really waste of points :slink: But I am actually fine with this result. He won but he got that wake up call and motivation to work harder and not fuss over world record. Also same! I want my veteran uncles on podium lolsob. Yuzu- Chan -Javi, exactly in that order.

If Yuzuru ever had an ounce of chill, he lost it all just now in the press conf hahaha. So easy breezy about the 4A!!! He's confident he can land it and would like to put it in a competition program!! This alien!!!!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

If anybody still doubt he will keep competing after Pyeongchang

Oh no, I agree about the Nats, I was talking post that. For Nats what you're suggesting sounds more than reasonable and if he falls on the second 4S, who cares. He still has the combo and no stupid REP.

After the Nats though, I wonder what they'll do as I imagine he does want to skate clean. So if it is the timing that is affecting the quad, I wonder if it is possible to shift the combo to the 4S-2T as you suggested and then also shift the 3A-3T where the 4S combo is now and where the solo 4S would be in that case, as the 3A is his most stable jump and probably won't result in a mess even if the timing is off. Then do the fourth quad where the 3A-3T is now. In any case, fingers crossed he's open to changes and won't dig his heels in :slink:

They will figure something out, I think. They completely change Chopin in 1 month between NHK and SC to add an extra quad. So I think changing just the second half of the program might be doable after Nats.

That's why I wondered if it was due to the ice condition, or he's lucky the other two did so badly.

I know it wasn't a disaster by any means, and the fall on the 4S was to be expected, but the 2S and 1Lz was a little bit worrisome, that's why I said I wish he can work on his mental game.

Either way, congratulations Yuzu on 4 GPF titles, that's so so so amazing :luv17:

It is. I hope he figured it out. Better bombed now than at the second half of the season.

To see the press conference, I was so happy. He is very thoughtful guy. He accepts all the results, analyzes them calmly, and finds many homeworks he should cope with. He is proud of himself about his victory, which he's achieved after the big injury and disappointment.

Unfortunate about the whole oranizational structure of this event, but happy for our Yuzuru. Congratulations Yuzu! Cheer Up! You will achieve what you want. You are the best. Thank you, God.
I'm happy for Yuzu. He deserved to win for all the hard work he has done after his injury. He is struggling and improving every day the difficult layout of his programs. He will overcome all difficulties. I trust him.

How do I do this? :scratch2:

Go to Settings on your upper right hand corner (near the logout), then look on your left hand side and scroll down to My Settings ---> My account ----> Edit Ignore List, and add the UN.

ETA: Lol, or the direct link provided by @eta

The best homework is NOT putting the 4S3T in the second half. He should have done 4S3T first. I don't understand why he insist on doing quad combo in the second half at all. Unless he wants to add 4lz as the second jump.

It's both exciting how unpredictable men's skating can be and a little sad because the unpredictablility comes from splatfeasts. But overall it's very entertaining. Given the blazer that Chen skated, I'd give props to Yuzuru for being able to hold him off - even if he didn't know how well Chen skated. Two positives from the FS is that he did his best 4Lo to date in competition, and he really fought to keep that 4T on his feet.

soooo... even with the mistakes I enjoyed the performance, that 4S combo is going to make me bald though :gaah: I say he should ditch it and add a 4Lo combo instead, I mean it worked when he ditched that combo in Chopin and made his program more difficult instead LOL (just kidding).
But anyways Congrats Yuzuru for your 4th title and making history again :party2:

hope Orser will convince him that waiting with 4S3T to 2nd half is .... stupid.:palmf: He gains on this like 0.6 points and losses 15 when he misses it
Something tells me that Yuzuru's not giving up his 4S3T in the second half so easily. Remember the fight with 4S on its own?

I prefer this than how the state of the ladies skating now are. Competition became more exciting to watch and there is no clear fave who will win just by basically doing the same thing with what have been done by other ladies 30 years ago.

I think if mama Orser succesfully tells Yuzuru to put that 4S3T aside, it means mama Orser has to agree to let him do 4lz in competition.
Or trying 4A... :drama:
