Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

If people like H&L or not, i don't think it has something to do with "cultural" things. People love to watch japanese anime even when they are not asians, and Hisaishi's music really is not that hard to understand
The problem is, Yuzuru didn't skate it good enough yet. His lack of stamina, missed jumps ect. is not helping, this has nothing to do with "asian music".

Real question: why is lack of stamina more of an issue with H&L, but wasn't with Seimei??

I don't think Yuna really deserves the gold :rolleye: So annoyed of those obsessed yuna bots :disagree:

Anyway, it's better to lose with a great performance than to win with a bad one. In that case it doesn't even matter if he wins gold or not. The most important thing is, he can be happy with his performance. No more "kuyashii"

But that's my worry: He is taking asthma meds, everyone can make a "doping case" out of it and people are easy to manipulate :disapp:
That debacle with Denis Ten was already enough, some just can't wait to get the opportunity to throw dirt and some are already trying it on tumblr and twitter :disapp:

I totally forgot about his asthma!

Is it just me or the Asian fans seems to prefer Yuzuru's Hope and Legacy? While the Western + NA fans seem to prefer Let's go crazy?
I hope we will have a survey for this.

I'm Joe Hisaishi fan & I prefer Hope and Legacy :luv17: And I'm from central Europe ;)

more jumps close to 2nd half, 3F is almost in 2nd half too, two quads in 2nd half, 4lo at beginning

and I don't think he has stamina issues, he just doesn't have yet full stamina for his program. Most of skaters propably wouldn't be able to finish half of his fp stamina wise ;)

I think it's more an issue with his injury that made him late in his training compared to last year, coupled with the fact that he's added one more quad and he is having issues with that 4S combination in the second half. Plus I feel like this programme is more demanding on the expressive side as well as the pace (he never stops moving, except for that breathing pause at the end of the first half that messes up with the timing of his 4S combination).

Anyway, I'm glad he's not peaking too early and just hope that he'll reach something close to what he really wants at Worlds :)

Edit: oops, I replied to the wrong person ^^

I don't think it's for taking breath actually, because it's just too short compared to how long others are taking break. This program actually doesn't heave break at all. It's more like a few seconds to prepare head wise for two coming quads

Well I'm still not sure about this mini pause, it kind of breaks the mood too. But anyway, as I was saying, yes he's moving all the time and needs to always give the impression that this programme is a never-ending flow somehow, which is very exhausting.

He should change the entry before 4S3T in the second half, or just move it to the first half. He insists on that quad combo in the second half... i am still puzzled.

My guess is somehow related to his pride. Isn't he the only one doing quad-triple combo in the second half now?

I think it has to do with him not being able to skate for two months before. Though he still has more months to practice before the GP series begin, two months was still a big deal for skaters. Added to the fact that he increase the difficulty of his LP.

But, a cabbage is not normally something you would think as pretty  so i prefer that because he could be wrapped in actual cabbage leaves and he would look good :laugh2:

Do you know the most precious exhibit in the Taiwan National Museum is the grasshopper on cabbage jade carving. The jade has two colours: white which is where the cabbage stalk and slowly turns green where the leaves and grasshopper are carved.

It does not make sense to me, maybe he wants to try another new quad in the first half as well?

Wait, wait
Another as in fifth?! Or another as in swapping in the 4Lz instead of the Sal because if it's the latter then I am pretty much expecting it, next season but if you mean five ... :slink:

My worry is he will be like Yuna and get a silver medal when he deserve to have a OGM

Well if he wins silver medal at Olympics, he probably did very badly and did not deserve the gold. I doubt any country's Skating Federation could influence enough people to sabotage a clean Yuzu.

H&L won't be everyone's cup of tea. But I think it is a fine program. It's lovely even more so now that Yuzuru is able to perform it 80%-90% at it's best. It's similar to requiem but there is still that distinct kick to it. As for that combo, if Yuzuru thinks he can do it, then I too believe he can (...I mean, if he sees the need to adjust/ change some stuff because it's too challenging or the success rate is low then he'll change it no? but he still sticks to it...) and simply wait and look forward to when he can skate it to perfection (then the wait will be even more worth it). :hap10:

I noticed that after two seasons of Westerm FS: R & J and POTO, Yuzu had chosen to do two seasons of Eastern
FS and Western SP combination. Maybe next Olympic season he would go the same.

I think because he is used to doing solo jump-solo jump-3F /// combo-to-no-end-and-the-rest kind of layout. That's why that 3F stays there and he would rather do quad combos in the second half I think. Lol.
Maybe he did do it clean quite often in practice so that he and his team do not think of changing it. Just like the saga with 4S on olympic season. I am not sure if it is indeed a timing thing or mental thing to be honest (or both). Because during OP runthrough, he only ever land it clean once?

If he can skate clean to current layout once, I kinda feel we will see the new quad debut next season, or at least there will be some step-up changes to current layout.
