Happy new year everybody :) Have a great year ahead for everyone here and of course for Yuzuru too :hap10:

I read somewhere that the Korean ISU will provide athletes with meh hotels that are 45km away but judges are located at a grand hotel just 5 minutes away.

Is this normal/regular arrangement?

Yes, I posted about this before, iirc. The hotel for the team is donghae medical spa which is 45 km = 40 mins drive away while hotel for officials and judges is lakai sandpine resort which is like 5 km/10 mins drive away. I don't think this is a regular arrangement though, they usually arrange a hotel near to where the arena is, I think Boston World was like that?
However, I think for pyeongchang olympics, the distance of the olympic village and gangneung ice arena will also be excruciatingly far. So I don't know if they do this on purpose to "prepare" the skaters or not.

45KM away is pretty insane... it'd take over one hour travelling time. At least we know that FFSG had a financial problem this year, but I thought the Korean Skating Union would be treating the athletes slightly better.
WC 2014 in Japan was the same, Eteri complained that they spent all day on bus. They said it took 2 hours on the bus from hotel to get to the arena. All athletes (including Japanese athletes) were the same.

Everything is jumbled up today, my head is not cooperating but they did at least provide sleeping rooms at the venue right? I might be mis-remembering though.

WC 2014 the hotel was at Tokyo and the venue was at Saitama, it was also far (about 30 km?) but they have toll road etc and it was a 5 star hotel and athlete and officials used the same hotel. The hotel they used for 4CC this year is a 3-star hotel. Though I can understand, gangneung is not really a big city and probably there is not enough accommodation available to host so many athlete+teams?

I'm very new to Yuzuru (or maybe not, lol, i remember checked on him after Sochi but didn't go deeper) and fs in general. Hmm, I remember searched about him after Autumn Classic. So I'm quite lucky to have updated news about Yuzuru in my first Yuzu adventure. I'm trying to learn about fs dutifully until now :cheer:

Wellcome ! I give you an advice. You can watch his old programmes after you watched his Wikipedia with all his awards until 2011, since he was in senior competitions. Few programmes I love very much:

But the WOG will be hosted there, shouldn't there be enough accommodation set for such a big event ready? Or perhaps because we're still a year away

OWG is mostly in Pyeongchang, they have the Alpensia resort etc; while FS will be in Gangneung which is not necessarily in the same area, I think? The lack of accommodation has been addressed by several news outlet, but later they will have a bullet train from Seoul to Gangneung which will be about 1 hr away, so they are hoping to share the lodging problem of PC OWG with Seoul.

For olys they will have the athlete's village... cannot use that yet....

Oh, I see. Thank you both! :thank:

A bit OT, but I was watching a Japanese game show just now and I thought Yuzuru would be amazing on it. He would have so much fun and since he's a chatterbox who likes to joke around, he'd fit right in . I wonder if he would ever consider it....now that its in my head, I really want it happen lol

Thank you, they are videos I watch almost daily recently lol because I'm addicted to Yuzu's skating. Help! But i'm not very often to be recomended world 2013. Right now I'm warming up to RJ 2.0 and Notre Dame. Before i somehow avoided those programs.

Yes please. There is old clip Team Japan (Mao, Mai, Taka, and Dai) playing in gameshow. But i never found recent team japan doing something like that

My worry is he will be like Yuna and get a silver medal when he deserve to have a OGM

I don't mean to re-open this can of worms (even though I'm doing it anyway), but I'm not even upset about Sochi anymore. I feel like this controversy probably did as much if not more for Yuna's legacy than winning gold. Plus, the way she acted with class after Sochi also did a lot for her legacy as well.

Giving Yuna the gold because of the "doping" news (which I know they won't do, but hypothetically) would thrust her into more controversy that she probably doesn't want. It's not going to be good for either Yuna or Adelina.

I won't forget Sochi but I always think of how proud I am of her that she again had the mental and physical power to skate two clean programs at the Olympic level. Before the Olympics my wish was that she skates clean, and the rest will come with it. My dream came true and she won a medal. And she really handled the whole situation very classily.

As for Yuzuru I can't imagine that he skates good, deserves the gold but wouldn't get it. If he skates good no one can beat him. And PyeongChang is not like Sochi because there won't be a real threat from the home country.

I'd never been upset with Yuna getting a silver (I don't know maybe because I am not her fan) but I am just making her Sochi incident as a example since many thinks that a she was robbed of OGM.

Here's 2017 4CC Schedule of Events (mark calender )

Apparently Yuzu wrote a note to Kazuki Tomono after The Ice in 2012 when he was still a novice.

(Kazuki kun: Thanks for taking care of me during The Ice Osaka. I look forward to meeting as rivals at a competition some day! (laugh). Kazuki, ganba~ From Hanyu Yuzuru)

I really love this about him.

Yuzuru is ranked 3rd after Kei Nishikori (1st) and Kohei Uchimura (2nd) in a survey by Oricon style for Most favorite male athlete 2016.
thank you for the trans gladiolucs
