:hap10::hap10:

I just looked up flag-bearers on Wikipedia though, and I don't think it's totally based on competition results and popularity. If it were, Mao would have been flag bearer for 2014 and she wasn't.

Yeah. based on this, it is not based on results and popularity at all. Actually it looks like they assigned it randomly? It is not based on age/seniority as well. Saori Yoshida (3x OGM in wrestling) was a flag bearer though, so someone with good result could have been chosen too.

You may be right. I think the results may be considered at a certain extent because most of the flag bearers from the past 20-30 years are Olympic medalists. But it is maybe considered that flag bearer is a medal contender (like Mao was the flag bearer at the closing ceremony in Vancouver so this may be a reason why she wasn't chosen in Sochi. :scratch2:)

I just hope they will choose Yuzuru, because he would deserve it so much.

And he loves his country so much! I think he would be perfect. And one of my selfish reasons for wanting him as flag bearer is to see him in the Opening Ceremony♥

Edit> it's been about 5 hours using the previously posted Yuzuru phone wallpaper and i giggle like a teenager whenever i unlock my phone. And this is my lock screen... I am weak against Yuzu in kimono.

He'll have so much fun as flag bearer - don't want it to create even more pressure tho. haha.

Aagh the lack of news post-influenza is driving me crazy. I hope he's healthy enough to be back at training now. His programs are so difficult and crazy = = and I really really really want to see Hope and Legacy clean, haha. Just in case they don't reuse it next season. I feel that he already sold Let's Go Crazy as a performance at GPF, but Hope and Legacy not yet.

Thank you for sharing, I found this very interesting! Though I do grow sad thinking about Yuzuru's burden...I don't think many people truly understand it. Maybe Yuna?

It would be so much fun if he got to be the flag bearer!!! I hadn't thought about this!

I look at The Edge and all thos beauty pageant threads and be like: "People are bored during holiday and they need dramas and competitions!" :laugh2:
Meanwhile I need a new laptop... :sad21: and the news that Yuzuru arrives Toronto for training. :hpull:

I would say Mao as well. Both ladies got the short end of stick and it was sad to see because they were once pretty close friends.

Well, Canadian and US Nats are within next week so they won't be bored for long
If he attends that Big sports award, he will only be there after Jan 13th right? So I guess I won't expect him to return until then

I am pretty sure he is the no.1. contender for being the flag bearer in PyeongChang. He is the sole Olympic gold medalist of Japan at the 2014 Winter Games and is the most popular winter sport star of Japan.

How about Noriaki Kasai? I don't think he is going to retire? :confused2:

How much more pressure can it create? People already have high hopes on him for the Olympics, and i think that if they don't choose him as the flag bearer, people will be up saying "He should have been the flag bearer!".

AAAh! Yes, i am a bit frustrated because there are no news... And worried because i wanna know he is healthy again :c

What big sport award? I am curious? But 4CC will be in a month. I hope he knows peaking at 4CC might be even more important than WC.

Just went back and watched Skate Canada 2015, the TSN version with Tracy commentating. Tracy is so supportive :)

Behaviorally, the things that motivate him seems to largely stay similar (pushing the technical limits, enmeshing the jumps into the performance). Last year it was 2 quads in SP, 3 in LP. This year it's the quad loop and 4 quads in the LP.

But the tune around him honestly changes all the time :scratch2: Who would have guessed, back then, in a month, he'd post those historic scores twice and suddenly people expect him to be foot-perfect, lights-out every single time.
Then, when he's not, people start wondering if his time is up, blah blah blah.

Haha see, I had a huge urge to say "Yuzu!!" for prettiest. The Skater A vs Skater B threads are also pretty annoying...

He could, theoretically, go back with Brian and Cha :D Korean nationals end 9th or so? Merry company.

He is one of those athlete who won big sports award. The one that he won as well last year? where he did this
The ceremony will be held on Jan 13th, according to mikaboo. So if he attends it, he will only return to Toronto mid-Jan. If he doesn't, well I will assume he is already in Toronto this week or the next.

Asahi big sport awards is on 13 January, initially Yuzu wasn't included , only Rio medalists, he was added after 4th consecutive GPF win so I am kind of expecting him to attend that and get back to Canada right after that.

It'll help him mentally for sure, to have done well at the same venue. Plus correlation between going in as a reigning world champion and getting OGM is iffy at best, sometimes happens, most of the time doesn't.

European Championships will be 25-29th, 4CC Feb 15-19th. BOrser gone right now for Korean and then again for those dates, though of course other coaches would be around. As long as he's healthy, I hope Yuzu's back in Toronto to train this week, lots to work on!

What he said about Shoma is exactly what i said in the Nationals thread :confused2:

That Shoma peaked too soon...?

Brian likely won't be around next week for Canadian Nats too. But other coaches would be there so it should not be a problem. He can also work with Shae-Lynn if he wants to alter/add the choreography a bit; as well as doing something about his 4S3T with other jump specialist (like grishlain?). Actually his only evident problem for me is the 4S3T, everything else is just fine.
