I enjoy fanfic, explicit or not. (usually on movies or celebrities)

But there's an important (but always broken) rule in my culture, aka "Fantasy within your own circle". NEVER LET PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE BE AWARE OF IT. We never use the actual name in tags, (just an example cos I don't care about Yuzu's fanfic) yuzuru may be "YZR" or "YH" or some made up names known only within the circle.

I get super pissed when some brainless selfish attention seekers shout to the entire world promoting their ship. Last time I saw a YOI fan commenting on an ancient Javi/Yuzu picture on Javi instagram saying YUZUVIER is real. :palmf:

What creates a problem is not fanfics (I see it as a private hobby), but those selfish ones that want their ship be real and popular by disturbing others.

Trying to stop fanworks is like trying to hold back the tide. but I agree fans should be respectful whenever they can. Even authors can get sensitive when they see fans playing around with their own fictional characters. It's why fic is so controversial but good fic writers are sensitive to these issues and should never defame or slander their idols or fav characters.
I honestly don't think he would be fine with it...
There is nothing wrong with fanworks. I enjoy a lot of fanedit and fanart myself, but I think there is still a line that should not be crossed, and for me it is when they start being disrespectful to the person or giving him/her discomfort. I followed many Japanese Yuzu fan on twitter as well as his international fangroup, and most if not all fanworks that I have seen of him are respectful and heartwarming. I am aware that there are minority of his fans who probably would produce controversial/questionable stuff, but I hope they stay a minority and not becoming a majority. I'm also aware that these controversial stuff is common among idol/celebrity fandom. But Yuzuru has clearly stated that he is an athlete, not an idol/celebrity/tv personality, and I would assume he wants to be appreciated as that, first and foremost.

When is this taken? Yuzuru look very handsome and manly in this shot. And the looked in his eyes
It was last year Nationals at the SP draw, his tie was badly made and Kozuka helped him making it better lol! quite a cute and funny moment!

I read fanfics myself, but authors are usually very careful and set disclaimers on how those are fictions and such (which is a must-do). RPF is rare for me tho (I do read the Yuzu/Javi ones but that's about it), I generally prefer those on fictional characters.
I'm very sure the skaters (Yuzu included) know that kind of stuff exist but simply ignore it. As it should be. What annoys me to no end are the so-called fans/people that are trying to show it to them (like it happened for Julia). Such type of fan works should stay among fans. It's just common sense.

Even fanart (well done, badly done, doesn't matter). Yuzu was asked about the fanart he gets and he said it was weird to see his own face. He said it very politely etc. but I totally agree. Fan art is also for FANS. :)

4CC 2017 is known as the Non-European Olympics.

I heard others say that 4CC is the less prestigious version of EC. In that case if Yuzu skate clean (or even almost clean :scratch2:) there we can see another WR...oh please save it for WC yuzu 🙏

I came across this tweet . Anyone can help to translate it. Does it say that Asahi host informed that Yuzu will not attend the Asahi awards and already back in Canada? It was tweeted on 4-Jan.

It would be weird for me too  But i don't think he would have a problem with something like runrun's art, where he is portrayed as a cute pocket-sized Yuzu  his most defining features are there but not his face :)

The "to omou" ending makes it really ambiguous for me. It could be that the poster wants to hear that, or that they think it's the best news they've read for now...

Yuzuru Hanyu

But how do you know it's not? :confused2:

Not when Javi is still officially dating Miki.

Plus, it should be them who tell us what is real or not, rather than "fans" shouting under the athletes' instagram telling the athletes themselves the ship is real (based on speculation :palmf: )

I hate it when shippers disturb real persons. Whatever they think is their freedom, but please keep it within their circle.

Actually, considering the field, these past years 4CC>EC. We know Javi will win Euros and Russian ladies will fill the podium too. 4CC is not so predictable. But EC has a loooong history of being a prestigious competition due to skating being more eurocentric back in the days and how past top skaters mostly come from Europe with the exception of Canadian and American. 4CC is a pretty young competition, historically speaking. Nowadays, the top single skaters come from Japan, US and Canada. Javi and the Russian ladies are the only one who are from Europe. But top skaters like to skip 4CC, unlike how Europeans would never skip Euros, thus its prestige never live up to what it is intended for, sadly. :hopelessness:

Yep. It's a touchy subject for me when people say things like "but it's so obvious" and such, because i have a very good friend that, during middle and high school, everyone asked us if we were dating, and there were people who assumed we were dating and said things like "oh but you are together, right?". I can 100% assure you that neither of us had feelings for each other, and still don't have (no, i'm not delusional. We have talked about it).
Just because two persons seem really close and everything doesn't mean they have that sort of feelings for each other :confused2: (And yes, i know it's not the norm but it's entirely possible as i've experienced it myself)

Lol this. I will be honest, I like seeing them interacting too because I think it is heartwarming, cute and it is rare to see two main rivals + top skaters under the same wing being pretty friendly to each other (especially when you live through the yagudin vs plushenko mess). But some took it very far and did those, up to the point where Javi even say in interviews that he is not that close to Yuzuru outside skating. There is having imagination for your own amusement which is ok and there is projecting your delusion into real-life people and bothering them which is not ok. :hopelessness:

It would be understandable if he doesn't attend. Unlike the past few season where he didn't compete between Nats and Worlds at all, he has 4 CC now, so he can't stay in Japan for a very long time.
I actually don't expect him to do that well at 4 CC, he usually doesn't do very well on his first competition after Nationals perhaps because of the longer period of time in between? And now that he went ill and skipped it, it would basically be over 2 months since he last competed (GPF). But the important thing is that he will pick up the training pace again to be at his best at Worlds  There were a couple of times in which he did better in the 2nd competition of the 2nd half of the season than the 1st one: Worlds 2014 and WTT 2015; I hope this can be repeated and he can be on great shape for Helsinki! :cheer:

It all comes down to some people failing to realize that he is not an idol/popstar but an athlete. There is a line that should not be crossed in regards to his private life and respect that should be upheld for both him and his fellow competitors.
