Lol this. I will be honest, I like seeing them interacting too because I think it is heartwarming, cute and it is rare to see two main rivals + top skaters under the same wing being pretty friendly to each other (especially when you live through the yagudin vs plushenko mess). But some took it very far and did those, up to the point where Javi even say in interviews that he is not that close to Yuzuru outside skating. There is having imagination for your own amusement which is ok and there is projecting your delusion into real-life people and bothering them which is not ok. :hopelessness:

Me too. Just selfishly speaking, I'd hate if Javi and Yuzu end up feeling like they have to distance themselves because of talk like this. Heartwarming bromance/rivalry = awesome! Actual romantic relations, given that the people involved are clearly uncomfortable about it... :noshake:

Actually, considering the field, these past years 4CC>EC. We know Javi will win Euros and Russian ladies will fill the podium too. 4CC is not so predictable. But EC has a loooong history of being a prestigious competition due to skating being more eurocentric back in the days and how past top skaters mostly come from Europe with the exception of Canadian and American. 4CC is a pretty young competition, historically speaking. Nowadays, the top single skaters come from Japan, US and Canada. Javi and the Russian ladies are the only one who are from Europe. But top skaters like to skip 4CC, unlike how Europeans would never skip Euros, thus its prestige never live up to what it is intended for, sadly. :hopelessness:

At least for mens, that's certainly the case. For ladies, I'd say EC > 4CC. My understanding is that skaters skip 4CC because it is so close to worlds, and it's preferable to train without the added hassle of travel and jetlag in a very short period. So what if 4CC is scheduled closer to Euros instead?

Ladies are mostly the Russians now and maybe Kostner. I'd dare say Russian Nats looked more competitive than EC. While 4CC will have the Japanese, American, Canadians and back then Korean (with Yuna). US and Canadian Nats is usually very late (mid to late Jan) so they can't really have 4CC at the same time as/ near Euros because the deadline for entry is 2~3 weeks before iirc. I think technically speaking Yuzuru only skip 4CC for last season. 2014 is oly year so of course he won't go while 2015 he had that surgery.

I guess it would depend on how close to Euros it might be, since Canadian and US Nationals are only a week before Euros. It might be too much for them if 4 CC is set, say, a week after Euros.
I think 4 CC is going through a vicious cycle: as it is not so prestigious, many tops skaters skip it; and because many top skaters skip it, it's not as prestigious. I find this very sad, because, at least in the case of the men, the field can be much more deeper than Euros. The other 3 disciplines are more even, though you could also make a case for Ice dance.

Russian Nats are crazy in the Ladies. One reason I'm really rooting for Evgenia is because I feel like she has a good chance of lasting more than three seasons before disappearing into that deep, deep void.

The question is, why do they feel uncomfortable?
The thing is, we don't know what people are doing when there are no cameras. So why would someone, who says "there is nothing" be more right than anyone else? :confused2:
We are living in a world where everything is possible. Many things are happening behind closed doors, things you can't even imagine. You can't be 100% sure of anything

Perhaps it'd be better to leave tinhatting to tumblr, hmmm?

Or, I have an even better idea: Perhaps it'd better to stop tinhatting altogether? Genius, isn't it?

I heard others say that 4CC is the less prestigious version of EC. In that case if Yuzu skate clean (or even almost clean :scratch2:) there we can see another WR...oh please save it for WC yuzu 🙏

What I meant was 4CC 2017 will be special compared to other years because It is going to be held in the actual Olympic rink for 2018. All Non -European top skaters will want to go there for a preview.

The other years? Will be back as step sibling of EC.

It seems like Brian's first impression of the 2018 arena is very positive, judging from his instagram during SK Nationals. It is barely a year away, so everyone is eager to check it out. We know yuzuru will be paying close attention to the acoustics!!

Lol info comes in so fast here sometimes it feels like a race to the finish line

Thank you both! That's at least one thing off my mind.

Thanks Specs and Pamigena! Good to know he is healthy and back in training!
So I guess he will skip the big sports award then
