I remember there was one performance where the B.Esp(?) commentators were like "And his humility(?) keeps him popular with the ladies" or something of that sort. Does anyone know which performance it was off the top of their head? I'm trying to gather proof for one of my friends that girls like Yuzu for more than just his looks and medals

Yes, and at the NHK Q&A this year (not press conference), Nathan gushed for a long time about even being able to skate on the same ice as Yuzuru.

Also, that article was rather snarky, but I have to agree: judging at the US Nationals for the men's event last year was beyond sketchy.

Ooh do you have a link to the video?? :D

Only Yuna comes to my mind now..."her humility keeps her widely popular' were amongst the last sentences on NBC before she began her long program in Vancouver. I can't remember when they said it about Yuzuru.

I can't seem to find it T_T He does say "I'm really really excited to be competing against" at 6:00 here: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x53tugt_16-1128-今季世界最高得点で優勝-17歳ライバルから刺激_sport

But there was another interview where he does say "I couldn't watch his SP because he skated after me, but I was able to watch his LP" and he gushed about Yuzu a bit. I can't find the video though.

Yeah I remember that. I might be mis-quoting because I love that quote too. But someone does say something about how Yuzu is very popular with the ladies at the end of a video...can't remember who or when though :hopelessness:

Wow that's so cute and it's great to see others look up to him! Have any other skaters said they look up to Yuzuru? So far I've only seen Plushy with 'Yuzuru is my hero' and Nathan Chen complimenting his 3A But does that count as looking up to him? Idk

Boyang, Nathan and Sota come on the top of my head. Actually, if you open Boyang's ISU bio it is still written there that he looks up to Plushy, Yagudin and Yuzu. I think Dmitri Aliev said similar thing too. Pretty sure there are many more. We get to know that these guys admire Yuzuru because they are the ones who are interviewed and mentioned about it. There must be many up and comers who look up to him but has not get a chance to be interviewed for the world to know. (Also, there is the ever infamous Zhenya who is very open about how much she admire him)

I believe Dima once called Yuzuru a 'cosmic man'. He also mentioned him in a very interesting interview for rsport that came out about a year ago, there was a translation somewhere around of that thing, where he spoke about himself too. I would say Yuzuru is someone he aims for.

Koshiro. He was on Kenji's Room... admires Yuzu (especially his jumps) and if he's allowed to be someone for a day, be Yuzu at Olympics to feel his beautiful jumps. That part was so funny to me. Actually, his LP this year instantly transports me back to RJ1, I couldn't unsee Yuzu.

Among the girls I remember Marin Honda, Yuna Aoki, Serafima Sakhanovich, Yulia Lipnitskaya (still a big fan it seems) who admire him openly.
Zhenya is worrying me a bit because she's totally copying him now. Even his mannerisms and facial expressions. Well, as long as it doesn't hurt her individuality, I'm fine with it. Though I wanna see not Yuzu in her but Zhenya.
Among boys and men there were lots, lots of them, I remember Misha Ge admiring Yuzu once (?). Jun Hwan too I think.

Ah... I see :) I remember Marin Honda also said she admires Yuzuru's RnJ2 and that is also one of the reason why she skates to RnJ for her free program this season. I followed the junior circuit this season, and trust me, the amount of times I hear RnJ there is... :slink:

How so? I don't follow her -- she seems like a nice person and a great girl, but her skating is not my style. But what do you mean by that?

In what way... and when? Zhenya is... quite Zhenya... to me. :o

It's pretty subtle or not so subtle. I usually pay much attention to non-verbal info, unconsciously. So I always pick up on typical Yuzu-ness she may exhibit sometimes. It's not a matter of fact but my subjective observations. I think she does emulate his trademark off-ice/on-ice moves and expressions from time to time. Yuzu-ness may be already ingrained in my brain (lol) but I doubt I have Yuzu-dar. That's ridiculous.
Hopefully many of that is her natural demeanor. She's a sweet girl, cool and creative on her own, and she has some qualities in her that Yuzu also has. That's for sure.

Personally I am a bit annoyed by this interview, better say that you will try your best and not expect others to make mistakes , well another proof that fame changes people :sarcasm:

I can say why Yuzuru is soooo special?? Yuzuru is the best skater in the world! And he also has the best personality that no one can beat! ^^ He is flawless!!!:luv17::yahoo:

for Dima i read this and this
Marin's fs is mix od RJ1 and RJ2, and Koshiro's is almost the same cut of RJ1, lol. Somebody said that because he is impressed with Yuzu's Nice 2012 performance.
But Junhwan said in recent article that he doesn't have particular role model but sure he can learn different quality from them

Yuzuru is not perfect but he embraces his flaws and improving, earnestly. I think that's one of his quality both as skater and person.
And we have to do so.

Good point! I like what you said😄

But Yuzuru is still perfect enough to me 💝🌷💕💝

I love and tearing at this latest video by Axel Yuzu

The Rose
I made MAD with "The Rose" of Bette Midler. I'd like to send this song to Hanyu player to convey love to people trying to survive with hope. - Axel Yuzu
