the bar was just set higher, 5 clean quads in the FS by Chen.

I just saw that and my jaw dropped. I know it's Nationals and scores are inflated as heck but even with a low-balled PCS score, Chen's proven he can easily join the 300+ club.

FS in Men's is moving so fast...and I've only been a fan since this season...

Wow, Nathan's consistency is shocking, especially when Yuzuru hasn't skated a clean 4-quad LP ever yet.

It's a golden age of Men's FS, good thing that you join in now  Remind me of that day of Yagudin and Plushenko and salt lake city olympic where the medalists do 3-4 quads. I think it is good for the sport, good for the field. I actually root for him because some US fan and judges have been acting like they are too good for quads and it is destroying FS and what makes the sport special is the art and emotion and bla bla bla. Now I just want to gloat over the reality that their no.1 guy is a young quadster lol. :coffee:

Yeah..He is definetly something. And feel change of generation weirdly. Like ladies field about 2times. how those quads easy they are. maybe different approach from basic start.
I guess yuzu also noticed him since some years ago. not sure but I remember he said nathan also can 2 quads in short in 2015 summer interview.
men's field has no limit..I think yuzu knows well this situation and set the right direction his own way.

Well I'm bummed out. A frontloaded jump drill isn't the kind of skating Yuzuru is trying to put out. But it could still win against him.

I honestly don't care much for Nathan's skating, but more on the fact that he's well on his way to serious injuries the way he goes. Yuzu also had had his share of injuries but he's training accordingly, and adding quads was something he did over years. But on the result, Yuzu is still winning if he gets clean program. He hasn't peaked yet, after all.

If he's not clean, sure. But we have always known Yuzuru has to skate clean. He has a far more complete, more difficult program and this season is far from normal, with the way he had to be off ice for so long so I'm not surprised he has yet to show us a full, clean H&L. He's got a new quad with higher BV as backup being ready for next season. I still don't see what has changed all that much compared to before USA Nats. We knew Nathan was coming and where he'd be if he got consistent and so did Yuzuru. Nathan's PCS here were massively inflated (some 6 points compared to GPF in the FS) and he's still not hitting Yuzuru's max score. Let's wait for 4CC to see where Yuzuru is at.

As for skating itself, honestly I kind of agree with lucky strike. He thinks 3 quads and any more it affects the artistry. Personally I say four is doable, having seen Yuzuru's H&L but past that I do think it's severely affected, especially for skaters like Nathan. While I am a great fan of jumps as this is a sport, I also don't want the other side to be lost as it's not figure skating then which is an artistic sport. Though who knows, PCS are slowly losing in importance so maybe we will end up with jump fests and superficial covering of those by some hand waving. Not that I'd watch that but maybe. Anyway, I'm not worried :confused2:

Yeah, it's exciting isn't it  It's easier for him because he has long set-up for his jumps and doesn't really put much steps before, but he rakes in from just the base value of landing them all. Also, he's been used in doing 4-quad lp since last season. What his job is to stay healthy and keep his peak for the rest of the season. The biggest question mark on him is the few times he skate to the second half of the season, he doesn't do as well as Nats. Like Yuzuru, he tends to peak mid-season.
For Yuzu, I just hope he is healthy and in a good condition. The tech demand of his programs are not doable if he's not in a good shape.

I think the chance of yuzu adding 4lz raised a little bit more. And we will see how shoma doing with 4lo.
it's interesting, yuzu is on patrick's position four years ago.

I don't mean to underestimate Yuzu, I know he gets fired up by competition, not like me haha.

I don't really dislike Nathan, but as an American I have a front row seat for the hype train. It's already started. He's not just a jumper, he's artistic! No. He could become a balanced skater, but he isn't yet.

This is really a mystical jump because we have yet to see it despite being talked a lot. But then again, Nathan has surgery last year and sit out the 2nd half of the season, but suddenly came back with both 4lz and 4F so looking at Yuzuru I don't see it being included to be that impossible at all.

Yuzuru was already aware of what was ahead of him. He is very wise. He sees everything around him. I trust and believe that we will see in 4CC and WC a stronger, stronger and unbeatable Yuzuru. This game is just beginning and our Yuzuru has the weapons and strategies that are milimetrically designed to beat him. It was the first time I've seen Yuzu stay so long in Canada. He is building his path with much dedication and focus on his goals. He is a boy genius and determined to win. I believe he will reap the fruits of your effort in the coming days. I BELIEVE.

Has this been shared here?

Yuzu working with Shae-Lynn on his hope and legacy. Looks like this is for the GPS but the movement are a bit different so I'm not sure if they did more adjustment after.
I think I like the shooting star one better to be honest

Hi I'm new here

Yuzu always lack in stamina so adding a new quad in LP mid season sounded not so wise, so why not add quad in to SP, coz in the past few year Yuzu seem tobe SP specialist type of skater, so the layout will be '4lo 4S4T 3A' is that evenossible and allowed?

Having watched both Nathan's programs clean now, I agree. His SP is still more expressive than the jump drill LP. I think the limit of 2 quads in there just gave the program space. So like it or not, figure skating necessarily heads towards a jump fest, since the top skaters (Patrick, Yuzu, Javi) have maxed out in PCS and for younguns to challenge them, there's no way to go but to jump more, jump harder (and none of the podium contenders are ready to risk injury and crack 4A yet, so even that looks to be topped out at the moment).

I kind of want for Yuzu what Korea did for Jun-hwan  a whole special medical team for him. I know Japan isn't going to do that given the depth of its field and maybe there are issues of fairness.

Lol 4S4T is not allowed. The max BV of SP is actually doing 4Lz3T 4F 3A in the second half of SP. There is no way to go beyond that.
Btw, welcome :cheer:

I think Jun Hwan was sponsored by a hospital no? It is not a KSU thing. I doubt JSF would do this, only ANA can pull out something like this.
