I wonder how he is preparing for 4CC. If he plans to do now two strongs competitions in a row, or still saving everything for Worlds

He could do two in a row like NHK and GPF... 4CC is a title he doesn't have and he probably wants really bad to be the World Champion again...

Not sure if the 4CC title means that much to him, but since it's the Olys test event (at the same place and time in regards to the rest of the events of the season), I'd say he would want to be in really good shape. So I'd say more 'trying to go for both' than saving it for WC.

If he really wanted the 4CC title, he would have gone the last few years...but he doesn't like to lose so that's enough incentive for him to do his best there

Yeah but he's reaching the end of his competitive career, and it's the Oly test event like Li'Kitsu pointed out. He seems to be a bit superstitious, maybe he wants to win a gold medal in the same place as the Olympics will be:laugh:?
And he's a gold medal/glitter hoarding mini dragon, i'm sure he wants ALL THE TITLES

But I'd be fine with him getting silver too. He did win silver in the Sochi test event (the 2013 GPF) ;)
(The point is, either way, I'll try to spin the result into something positive  )

I think he wants less of a gap in his competitions, to have a good momentum, and that's great as 4CC is also the test event. So I think he'll go all out, hoping for a good wave to carry him to the Worlds.

I don't think he'd "save" for Worlds. The plan is probably for him to do well at 4CC and then maintaining peak for Worlds. Being in relatively the same state he'd be in next year for Olympics is important. Not just for superstitious reasons or to feel good, but also as validation for whatever peaking plan they have. If he does well, they can try to replicate that same kind of peaking schedule next year.

He did mention he never got 4CC champion, so it'd be nice to win. But it almost sounded secondary compared to the other aspects he stated.

Well, since we know that his goal has been PC all along, i think that anything else he gets along the way is secondary :)

This is what makes it so nail-biting hard for me. He'll be happy with nothing less than gold-winning beautiful performances deserving of OGM T_T T_T T_T Anything else will be kuyashii >"<

:sad21::sad21::sad21::sad21::sad21::sad21::sad21::sad21:

I want all the shiny for him

I agree that, yes, this prep after the New Year is a dry run for next year. I think that's why he went back earlier than usual (although we do know he's playing catch up still). This is probably the same schedule he'd want for next year in the weeks leading up to the Games... home for Nationals, for a bit of rest during holidays and then back to TCC for hard training (peaking) and then going to Korea...and then maintaining that form for World's. Winning the gold here and now is probably a big deal for him for those reasons and the fact that it would be a first 4CC title is a bonus.... and you always want to have a good feeling about a venue and achieve success there. He certainly does not want to bomb this event and then have negative feelings toward the place. You can think analytically about that all you want, but the negative association would still be there.

And yup, I want him to hold all titles too!!!

Well if we want something to discuss I was wondering: between which two competitions (senior) do you guys think Yuzuru improved the most, or/and alternatively managed to showcase his greatest improvement? :)

I think he really got his skating skills, as in edge work (in this context), to really show at the short program at Cup of China 2014 - I think he improved most in skating skills during 13/14 leading up to Gpf13, Sochi and Worlds14 but that the Chopin program was more difficult in that area and that he therefore there really managed to show (off ;) ) his progress - also because Worlds14 whilst great was not his best performance (skating skills wise) that season, therefore the difference I think seems bigger

(I analyze way too much... fate of a philosophy student I'm afraid :palmf:)

If I choose between two competitions, it may be 2014 NHK Trophy and GPF (not sure it is a good choice though :palmf:), or 2015 Skate Canada-NHK Trophy, his greatest improvement was between 2013 SC and 2013 GPF.
NordEsque, you're right with Chopin, but I rather think of improvements during a season rather than between two seasons, because that's different to compare.

3500 :ghug: :dance2:

I'm so out of the loop that only now I realized that PChiddy is also going to compete at 4CC. I'm sorry for bringing this up but are you ready for The Mutual Curse v. 2017?

It's coming.

jk, but just in case, light your candles and keep them burning for worlds

I was bored at work. Really bored, because without Hanyu news, my productivity increased by a thousand and i finished my work really fast.
So i did this, a purple origami swan. A nice addition to the little Hanyu corner in my desk  (i had to buy a mini Pooh. I don't have the heart to have Yuzu alone without a Pooh)
