How am i going to survive until 4cc? The lack of news is killing me...
If he goes to ice shows do you think it will be more manageable for the off season? Unlike january were we only got crumbs of info...
(and i want to see his 4Lz!!!!)

Well Friday and Saturday have the Russian Juniors and Keiji is at Winter Universiade (I am super excited for this, I want to see how far he's gotten, and he's at 4CC with Yuzuru of course) and being sick might as well have some perks
I'm sure we'll somehow make it the week after (purple pants of sin are always a great topic of conversation) and then I expect he'd be landing in Korea around Monday so once the pics start, all is good :agree2:

Oh god, no for a repeated program/theme yet again, I've had enough of those ... Thank you very much knocks on wood

Success cannot be replicated with the same impression. You're better off experimenting than being on your comfort zone as long as it isn't too drastic.

In short, YOLO k

I've had long conversations about the purple pants of sin
Yesterday our dance teacher was showing us a video of a guy dancing a mix of ballet and bollywood in a very VERY tight yellow suit and i couldn't help but thinking about the purple pants of sin...

Russian Juniors is very exciting. Russian Juniors Ladies, apart from the fact that I don't have many favs in there apart from Polina, is probably more exciting to me than Euro.... and Russian Senior Nationals. Keiji is both in winter universiade AND 4CC? :scratch2: Is that the latest Japanese strategy...? Many many many comps...?

Agreed. And given how Yuzu already skated Semei perfectly, it might come with more beggage (expectations and stuff) than that it would help.

He also wants to challenge himself. And to be honest, I'm greedy - I want as many different Yuzu programs as I can get :p

Doesn't he look just glorious in them? But yes, we should table that until the moment we absolutely need it.

Here, something cute instead. This cracks me up every single time :laugh2:

Right? I'm really excited for Polina, knock on wood she's well now, but overall the ladies should be a corker!

Yes, both of those. And then the Worlds. I have no idea why some of them seem to have so many events together, it doesn't seem wise but I am glad Yuzuru's managed to avoid that fate. Hopefully at least for Keiji it'll help get him more competition experience outside of Japan.

Seimei was already perfect at GPF2016 and generated too much expectation for Worlds. And we all know what happened [emoji20]
But I think somehow Yuzuru still feels himself connected to this program, he was even doing bits of it at GPF practice in Marseille.

The purple pants of sin conversations here really make me wonder just how much discussion of that is acceptable here  you have no idea how much i leave in the quick reply box!

I would watch the video but youtube is blocked at work and i already ate all my data :(

Seimei for ice shows! I don't think i would get tired of watching him skate that...

Also, i am a bit confused guys, why do the japanese on twitter tweet every now and then Yuzu related things with "rabbit rabbit White rabbit"? Anyone knows? Yesterday my twitter was filled with those kind of posts...

I was going to say it might have to do with the fact that he doesn't have public-facing social media accounts. But then I remembered when Oda tried to have him give more details about his training in a studio interview after NHK. Yuzuru just refused, sweet smile and all, and said it was a secret. Your post reminded me of that XD IMO he tends to be most blabby in press conferences straight after competition, to an extent. And what he plays with in gala practices can show glimpses of what he's considering.

Maybe it's a contract he has with people on television? I remember Yuna had something similar back in the day, she had to reveal her programs in special situations (even her dresses).

Bad work.
Here, this should be ok. Yuzuru the bendy straw :roll9:

I have no idea about twitter. There's that superstition about saying rabbit, rabbit on the first of the month to bring you good luck during it or white rabbits sometimes but I somehow don't see the Japanese using it? Though who knows

Exactly. I was kind of bummed when he choosed to repeat Chopin. Still that time it was kind of understandable since he didn't manage to skate it cleanly previously and it paid off. When he announced he would be repeating PW for the Olympic season he received some backlash, it worked but wouldn't be even better if he had a program with a similar feel but different choreography altogether? Not that I didn't like 2013-2014 PW, I did, but wasn't NHK Trophy 2012 already a great rendition of it? As a skater you have a limited number of seasons to play with in your career, this means less oppotunities to explore. Also, when you have a new program you start from level zero and build you way up, this makes for me a much interesting journey than trying to replicate the success you had previously with it what, 1, 2 times at most? Anything less would be considered a failure.

And I'm greedy too. More programs means more chances to surprise and to leave me bald thinking about what music and theme he will choose and how the program will turn out.

I think he just does it for fun and for the fans, but that's my impression. I remember him replicating parts of R&J 1.0 even recently.

That's... an unfortunate placement of ice on his pants
Oooh i see! I thought they were referring to his adorable teeth  he sometimes looks like a bunny and it's really cute. I hadn't noticed it could be because of the first of the month...

I'm still thinking about that 4s-1lo-4S. There must be some story behind it why he is actively practicing it. Maybe he has some idea on tweaks in his LP layout now

Whatever it is, he will not do 4S1Lo4S in competition this quad. Unless he can pull out 4Lz and 4lo consistently.

Even then, he could stick with a less risky 3A1Lo4S. He can only do one 3 jump combo anyway.
Lol, less risky

Oooh a 3A-1Lo-4S would be so magnificent :luv17: :palmf:

I have to sympathize with the Italians though, when they keep laughing. I mean, what else can you do? Did any of us think we'd be talking about such things two years ago? A year ago? It's almost surreal.

A year ago looks so different now! And regarding the 4S1lo4S, forget years - I'd say minus 5 minutes after seeing a video  (because my head needed time to process that!)

I absolutely love how much Max adores Yuzu, btw :luv17:

I love when they laugh in disbelief. Cos that's exactly my reaction too when they talk about the things he's even trying in context. It's not just do X number of quads in SP, X number of quads in LP. It's doing all that, PLUS steps and transitions, PLUS quality, PLUS doing it twice in a row, PLUS maybe two new varieties this season, PLUS we're debating the relative risks of 4S1lo4S vs 3A1lo4S in earnest....... ....... ....... :laugh2::palmf: At some point, I just overload and my brain dies a little bit.

I'm listening to the Ice Talk podcast with Rafael Arutyunyan (plus Nathan Chen) and he talked very briefly about smilling when Yuzuru won GPF 2015 contrary of when Nathan won the JGPF because of the performances they gave. I just thought it was funny.

It's at 17:15 (Ep. 17)

Unless ISU change their rules about giving harder combo more points, this combo will likely not make it to competition since it hass 0 benefit point wise. It is better to do quads (and 3As) separately because they have higher GOEs than triples.
However, IF he heard some rumors or insiders info (lol) about how ISU will change the IJS to reward more difficult combo, it may come out, but only after 2018 at best.
