Transcript of Yuzuru related part from Javier's documentary
5.40 Orser said he normally starts training with the athlete in June
8.39 Orser talked about how he first got to coach Hanyu "
They want to keep it top secret, I have no idea who it was. I was going to Japan, they took me to some hotel. We had a private meeting. I walked in and there's Yuzuru Hanyu. I was like, this is the last person on earth that I actually thought would be asking me to teach."
So Brian asked "So, why do you want to come with me?" And he just said "I want to come and train at your rink, I want to train with Fernandez"
9.24 Yuzuru : "I really wanted to practice with Javi, because (his jumps?) looks like really easy and really constant with music in competition.
Brian : So I come back to Japan, I saw Javi and I said, there's a skater that wants to come. I just want to talk to you about it and see if you are ok. He said "who is it" and I said Yuzuru Hanyu and he was like "oh that's fine." He didn't care"
They're complete opposites. When you think about the Japanese culture vs Spanish culture. Yuzuru is here, very sheltered and very protected, he is with his mother. He does do his studies, his university studies, and he's not social at all. You have fernandez who is here on his own. He has his own apartment, does his own cooking, his own cleaning and he has some friends, he's very social. On weekends he will have go downtown and have some beers with his friends while Yuzu is the opposite.
10.33 Yuzuru : "This is 5 years. Living here. I usually feel strange (?). Because I usually speak in Japanese with my family, with my friends."
10.59 Tracy : "When Yuzuru first came, Javi would be coming to the rink with his ski jacket on, he'll be taking off his guard, sipping his coffee and Yuzu would be doing a 3A. And You see Javi go : coffee down, jacket off, boom gotta get to work."
11.25 Brian : They both are better because of each other. Javi's better because of Yuzu and Yuzu's better because of Javi."
Olympic cuts. It is interesting but about Javi and the comments he made being a burden to him in the Olymppics, but will not explain it further.
Brian talked about missing the Olympic Gold.
Parts about Javi winning WC
20.57 Brian : I think technically on the ice they're pretty much the same. Hanyu really flies, more than Javi. He really flies. He just soars. He (Javi) is much more relaxed than Hanyu. I think that's why he tends to compete better, and Hanyu is really focused and really intense, a little bit too much in my opinion.
21.19 Yuzuru : (can't quite catch what he said here I just translate from the spanish sub, he said I can't withstand the pressure?) Thanks to Javi I can beat my pressure. When I feel nervous, he's going to talk about something funny. So I think I owe what I won to him."
Anyway, it is an interesting documentary. I think mostly the parts there are not really new though there are some I have yet to hear before. I don't speak Spanish so if Javi said something about Yuzu I have no idea what it is.
