They do seem to think that. And they keep saying that if we don't accept that then we're just sore losers and whatnot. It is clear these are people who never liked Yuzu, not even a bit. It pains me to think how many times he must have heard things like that directly. If it's hard for me to cope with that, and aren't aimed at me, i can't imagine how he can do it...

I swear i will never get this emotionally attached to a skater ever again. Seriously

I will never EVER accept that until he retires. Ever.

Actually, if any competition proved otherwise, it's this one. He lost to the disadvantage he had from the SP even with mistakes. He had the stamina and wherewithal to pull off emergency layout changes. He landed 4 clean quads for the first time. And, more importantly, he has a HUGE advantage in GOEs, more so than in the PCS (though those will raise when he actually does his proper layout and doesn't have to rush a bit to change it on the spot). He is nowhere out of the race. But Nathan IS the new kid on the block now. Like Yuzuru was, back in his battles with Patrick. It's only natural to be excited. I am. This is an interesting era to have stumbled into Figure Skating.

Why do we even care for those meaningless statements. It is absolutely unnecessary to get bothered by them. Gladly most people have real eyes and can think and anylsis not only independently but also reasonably. As for haters,they are always going to be and I never aim to turn them around; just not worthy.

I'm pretty sure the ISU won't ever want that to happen either. To be honest, once Yuzu retires it's gonna be a huge loss, not only because he is a legend, but also because of his popularity. Like I know Shoma and even Nathan now are gaining fans but nothing was better for the sport than Yuzu's international pull. Even though YOI fans came because of the anime, most stayed for Yuzu

I have to say I find it weird JSF doesn't have more pull in the ISU, when the Japanese people are basically bankrolling and warmly supporting the entire sport and skaters from all over the world. Not that I want anything inappropriate, but it often seems to me Japanese skaters are underscored and have been for years. Chris Reed and Kana Muramoto, Rika Hongo, Mura, Kozuka, Suzuki, Nakano... I could go on. At times, even Dai and Mao.

I don't know what to think of Shoma's scores. I like watching him most out of the new younger skaters, but he is the only one from Team Japan getting kind judging.

I was thinking same whenever I heard someone say "if Yuzu was part of the X fed or Y fed, he would had definitely won." I don't really understand how those feds are stronger than the JSF... oh well.

- He decided to do two 4T in the second half, after he landed 3A3T. He thought he'd do 4S once more, but felt a little too tight/tired for that. In practice, when he doesn't land 4S nicely, he would sometimes do 4S where he does 3A3T. Today, he thought he should land the 3A3T nicely first. After that, he realized he still had strength, so he decided to do the 4T. Has never gone through a simulation like that. He was calculating the number of combinations he could do all the while skating.

I just caught up with 4CC, haven't really backtrack this thread and I doubt I would want to since it is is like 30 pages away lol. So If I repeat what others had said before, my apologies

My thoughts :
- The 4S3T really needs to go. Sorry Yuzu. Looks like doing 2 4T in the second half would have been a better idea than forcing himself to do 4S3T. I hope at least this loss would wake him up that there is no use of him to be stubborn about that element anymore.
- He lost 10 points off his planned BV but still finish first in the Free Skate. I would say things are still looking good for him. He just really need to deliver.

Overall, I guess some are gloomy/sad. It's okay. I would say this competition is actually not bad. He made several mistakes that is very costly to his BV and points, but he is only 4 pts away from his rival with much higher BV who delivered all of his elements (despite some of it being eh?). he is quick to think on his feet to make up for that BV loss when he popped that 4S. So let's look at some of the bright side instead of being all too dark
At least he still have 1 month to work on it for worlds and 1 year for olympics. A lot can happen, I just wish he is healthy and is looking forward and not overtrain and injured himself for it.

p.s : wow I can't believe he got his 3rd 4cc medal just like SC lol I guess there are just competitions that cannot be

It would definitely be a bad idea to get ride of one 3A, good that he knows that. But another kind of quad is possible while staying at 4 is definitely possible. Like the 4Lz for example.

That's good to know! He knew he made progress AND he went up from 3rd to second while winning the free skate, so he has reasons to be satisfied with the final results.

This is entirely speculation as i'm not confident in my level of japanese, but i feel like he sounded motivated in that interview. (And after all, he did want to win...) I'm referring to this (japanese please help me here, as i don't feel confident to translate this but io think i got the idea?)

ただ、年々成長していると思うし、年々やることも大変になっている中で、自分の限界に挑戦している感覚が非常に好き.今回がたぶん一番楽しかった銀メダルだと思う

The good part is about how he "enjoyed"? getting the silver.

it's his most consistent jump (which is rare now of days especially looking at the men) but I'm sure you all knew that. This is a good time to remind that out of his ENTIRE senior career (going on 7 years now) he has landed 117/124 3As meaning he has only fallen or popped 7! :shocked:

EDIT: actually looking back at it, he has only fallen 4 times (one was at CoC 2014 so technically 3...) and only 3 pops. :eeking:

Yes. He said that his completed program, is basically trial for 5-quad+2-3A program. So if he trained that, it might actually work. <3
It was an exhilarating FS win and 4CC silver.
