it's his most consistent jump (which is rare now of days especially looking at the men) but I'm sure you all knew that. This is a good time to remind that out of his ENTIRE senior career (going on 7 years now) he has landed 117/124 3As meaning he has only fallen or popped 7!

With most of them in the second half as well. His second-half 3A's are truly the value of a 4S with some GOE.

THIS CRAZY BRAIN (translation is rough. someone correct if wrong! thx)
- He decided to do two 4T in the second half, after he landed 3A3T. He thought he'd do 4S once more, but felt a little too tight/tired for that. In practice, when he doesn't land 4S nicely, he would sometimes do 4S where he does 3A3T. Today, he thought he should land the 3A3T nicely first. After that, he realized he still had strength, so he decided to do the 4T. Has never gone through a simulation like that. He was calculating the number of combinations he could do all the while skating.

many thanks for translation!
a samurai genious on the ice

Mark my words, his next layout will be: 4lo, 4lz, 3F, 4S, 4T3T, 4T, 3A1lo3S, 3A

Why not 3Lz instead of 3F? It's not as if the zayaking potential is not already insane with this layout lol. And a -3Lo combo as well, since it's missing one combo.

Because his 3rd jump has to be a 3F lol it has been like that since forever.

His 3F does integrate way better into the program too I guess. He can always do it out of step sequence and the newly added exit transition is :luv17:

which is so funny because that's his "worst jump".
i know he still doesn't care for it, but I love how exceedingly hidden it is. That one truly is out of nowhere.

I think it's also because a point of pride for him to have all kinds of jumps in his program.

Three. So one more combination!
Yay, he redeemed himself and... he's doomed to silver at 4CC.

Please no more use of the word "doom" in this thread!:drama: Just kidding. But glad to see people are upbeat here again and Meoima now predicting Olympic gold for Yuzuru. :)

Well, and I think he does not want to really skip any jump in his FS. It looks to me that he is the type who wants to do all type of jumps in his FS (T,S,F,Lo,Lz,A)., so even if 3Lz has a bigger BV by 0.7 pts, maybe he won't skip it

That's also much less dangerous in terms of zayaking should he pop something. He's never going to add a 4F, that much we know XD

The possibility of him addin the forth quad is bad news for me. I'm kinda sad now. Today his performance was amazing in terms of his gutsy spirit and tech but the performance itself was not so impressive. He looked very stiff, almost no expression, constantly saving energy. He was probably trying to consume as less energy as he could to execute his lay-out. If it happens now, then he's gonna travel Nathan's route and it'd be even worse if he suddenly doesn't upper his stamina like a superman. I'll miss his breathtaking performance and presentation so much. I think I secretly hoped he'd avoid this quads-crazed road and will present himself as a complete skater.
Besides, it's still a speculation but he abandoned some spins and didn't use upper body as much which may be a result of minor injury or I something. I'm worried about his body and how well it'd take 5 quads while trying to still pull a whole-package.
Though I understand why he needs it. He strives to win the Olympics and not-so-perfect Nathan Chen won over him which is alarming. It's probably necessary to up the difficulty. Though the pcs gap is still impressive.

Agreed I'm very proud of him and the fact that he was able to improvise but today his face was stiff and he didn't look very connected at all. The program didn't really give me many emotions and I hope that he watches is LP later and sees that he needs to be more connected. For me, I will always love R&J 1 for the intense passion and wild freedom he had along with LGC and POTO where he sung along to both of them

Lol yes there's that too. But to be honest I don't know if I want to see him upgrade his layout again during olympics season. I still have trust issues with 4Lo and 4S. :laugh2:

And as we all see, multiple quads+3As programs are very prone to splatfest (like basically look at Patrick, Shoma and Boyang today). So I still feel conflicted.

One thing is for sure. He showed he is capable of delivering 4 quads. His BV today in the FS is 93 pts because of the pop while his actual BV is 103 pts. That pop in the FS + the pop at SP cost him around 20 points of BV alone. If he manages to deliver all clean his score would have been through the roof. I hope they consider to change the layout for worlds and get rid of that 2nd half 4S3T. There is still time.
