Simon has always been a bit too eager (for me) to think that most tech/most successful equals best, which I don't think is the case. Best skater is best skater you know? I think Simon has even claimed that Djokovic is a better tennis player due to him being better against his rivals than Federer, I like Simon though I just don't always agree with his reasoning

I think the commentators were Simon and Mark? Mark Hanretty I think.

I would actually think it is good because it will lessen the expectation and pressure on him. Going into worlds and/or oly not as a sole favorite probably would help him.

Second, not everyone will like Yuzuru and thinks he is the greatest, whether currently or in the past. There is no need to be rattled when someone thinks there is a better skater than him. What is important is he is still in a good position had he delivered. It is just like in SC for years, or worlds, or any other competition where he did not perform cleanly and someone finish ahead of him. But so far he showed that he is still capable of delivering and is still the man to beat. I think it is better just to wish for him to be healthy. in a good form and happy, rather than wishing everyone will still think of him as the greatest.

I'm fully aware that not everyone will like him, and that not everyone will think he's the greatest skater ever. My problem is how they're treating him like he's over, i think they forget he's not Patrick or Javi's age... He still has more to do in competitive skating...

I think he was also very nervous at the beginning (just look at his stare and expression in a starting pose) and it might have added in stiffness and blankness. But even crazier layout will make him even more nervous.

Well who knows. I still think it is a pretty great job considering the circumstances. At the end of the day, he still wants to win and if that means he has to simplify his transition to deliver cleaner programs more often then it is probably worth to consider. There needs to be compromise among his skating ideals, his own limit and capabilities, the trend of where the sport is going and doing what is necessary to win. If that is what his ultimate goal is.

But this is not the first time it is happening. They did that last year after SC. Or the year before that, and before that. And he was younger. Like I said way way before, people are easily swayed by the result of one or two competition. It will just waste your energy if you get upset when someone writes him off. Forget Yuzuru. Shoma is younger than him and during GPF last year they lauded him as the next greatest. People already write him off too now because of Chen. Heck, they write everybody off after Yuzuru got back-to-back clean skates at NHK and GPf too.

If anything, they should have learned that ice is slippery and anything can happen. So it's probably better to surround yourself with happier stuff rather than submitting yourself to people who said negative things about him, which clearly made you upset. ;)

They may drop in now so it won't cause any problems in the future. Since the next season is Olympic season and he wants to stay competitive after that it may be unnecessary risk now... Though when it comes along with changed lunge, stiff upper body etc it's worrisome.
 
That was a beautiful EX by Yuzuru! :o: Not really concerned about the Biellmann as we don't really know why he didn't include it (not until there's official word of something), but I'd love to see it again. Anyway, that was really really beautiful. :hap10:

Right, I do think he's nursing something. Beautiful and lyrical as it is, it's got a lot less upper body back-bend than he usually does. He made up for it leaning sideways/ leaning forwards/ arms/ etc. And no biellmann.

The good thing about him avoiding all these actions though --> he really is taking care of his body and I'm sure it's getting treated.
