Teach me master! I was having palpitations throughout the whole last group :drama: I trust Yuzu and I know what he's capable of, but I can't help but get nervous every time he competes

I was nervous enough when he skated - even though I was unable to watch! When I said 'freaking out' I meant the panic and despair of the two previous days which may have cost us some good posters. :(
Ah, what is past is past! Let's have a group hug and forget all that!

I thought it was a good moment to crack open a bottle of Pinot Noir that I've had since Christmas. It ended up making things a LOT more bearable, rofl. I went from thinking I wouldn't watch at all to watching the whole thing being pretty chill :sarcasm:. Though I did groan when Shoma fell twice and said a little "f--k" to myself when Yuzu doubled, but I didn't freak out. Helsinki is in Europe and they like their alcohol so I'm assuming the arena will be well stocked of it for my needs during the men's events :laugh:;), rofl.

What a skate :) First off, congratulations on winning the FS with a surprising and thrilling rendition of H&L.

It's interesting that people thought he was emotionally detached, while others say this is the first time they actually like this program. Obviously it was a very different H&L than usual :laugh: There was a laser focus and grit that wasn't present in his more ethereal and gentle versions (GPF, for example). While in previous versions the mistakes on the 4S+3T usually break the delicate illusion, this time, it only made the skate more exciting, unpredictable, and dramatic for it.

If he could marry the gentle warmth and dream-like delicacy of the first half of the GPF FS with the sheer guts, attack, race-against-all-odds, heart-pounding, don't-know-what-to-expect, thrilling action sequence like the final boss battle (with the finishing blow Ina Bauer-3A) second half of this 4CC FS, I think I'd have my perfect H&L. :love: H&L itself is about the evolution of his skating, about starting from the beginning and rising to the challenge. Every new competition experience and circumstances (being 3rd in the SP against young phenoms equipped with an onslaught of quads and ambition to the skies) adds new layers to this program and makes the program emotionally richer for it. It's amazing to feel this program growing and changing, never the same twice, almost like an organic living thing. Wow, did that last portion pack a huge emotional punch. :hap93:

I was thinking he might have to go there, they will probably catch it on tv if he does, but it will not be for long. I sense a real eagerness to get ready for World's with the new challenges ahead. Last year he was facing worlds with uncertainty, and as far as we know this year is much different.

I usually have only one favorite performance of his programs, but with H&L i can't pick just one. It seems different every time. The fighting spirit shining through this one was mesmerizing. I did miss his gentle, smiling face skating to it, but i love fighting Yuzu the best :)
 
This was definitely my favourite HL performance. I am still not in love with it, but the ending with fighter yuzu makes my day... and no glaring 4s fall to mar it. And his happiness after helps.
 
I don't know if this FS is one I will rewatch over and over. Realizing he was changing his layout on the fly was marvelous. Truly the return of champion fighter Yuzu. But the way his arms were hanging by his sides looked like energy conservation mode. And his spins in both programs were slower than usual. GPF is still my favorite!

I watched it again on British Eurosport to see what they thought and to see if it changed my mind on the program. Of course they loved him as they always do, but they did say he was lacking a bit in emotion and skating skills toward the end, which i totally agree with. Arms to his sides and eyes looking down more than I remember from GPF. H&L is definitely not one of my favorite Yuzu programs, but I admire his fight until the very end.

guys, di yall notice the proud smile on Brian when Yuzu didn't do biellman? it's like I can read what was in his man "good boy, you should listening to me more often kid, is not that bad right?" and feel relieved coz the crazy kid finnaly behave just for be trolled in the end when the same kid throwing another quad and 3A in end of the program lol

Brian in the end, 'my Gosh, I should know better, once a crazy kid will always be crazy kid'
