You have absolutely no respect for my poor nerves at all. I protest. Strongly protest  It won't be the 4A, it'll be the 4Lz :p

But yes, no five quads, there's no reason for that. Possible other changes, sure, but that's anyone's guess then.

Be glad if you have nerves left :p I actually thought about ending my own last post with 'ffs RIP me', but then I decided to better keep my inner teeange internet drama queen in check

And I only mentioned the 4A because even that is more likely than having no 2 3As.... the nerve-wrecking part is the more realistic 4Lz, but you started that now :p ;)

Marin, you forgot to say, 4A out of spread eagle then, I guess ;)

There is no way he will ditch his 2x 3As they worth same as quads when he gets proper GOE , only way is 4 A as an opening solo jump ..

Nah, that'd be too simple. He'd throw that baby in as the last jump, when nobody expects it.
I hate you all. I dream of these things you know.

Let your drama queen out. We actually might keep some nerves that way. It's therapeutic.

More realistic for now ... :slink:

If he can actually land an UR 4A i will eat my hat and shoes. Honest. :p

If you poke fate, fate will laugh and poke back.

Actually, serious question, it's impossible not to fall on a UR 4A, right? Because you'd sorta be 'landing' from the front?

tbh he doesn't need to add a quad to his programmes this season, he just needs to land the ones that are there, to the kind of quality he is capable of, and rack up the PCS and GOE. I find it difficult to believe anyone can out-skate Yuzu if he completed his programmes to their potential because he's already getting higher PCS than the young'uns and he can get higher GOE on the jumps he does.
Hopefully before worlds all he'll do is make sure he's getting his 4lo and his 4s3t without popping or falling and ensure he can get as damn close to +3 GOE on as many elements physically possible  His competitiveness might win out though, we'll see~

(If he were to YOLO a 4A attempt at any random point in his programme I think aliens in distant galaxys will hear the screams of a thousand yuzu fans lmao)

Look, if eating a hat and shoes is only what it takes for him to actually be able to land an UR 4A, I probably won't regret it so much at the end.
yolo

More like it is impossible for Yuzuru to be able to land any UR jump. :p

If he UR his jump he usually falls on his butt or at best stepout/turnout/hd on it. I don't think I remembered he ever land an UR jump (cleanly).

On your responsibility

I'm still hoping 4A is for after PC. That is the last bit of sanity I'm clinging to very much :laugh2:

yolo

So basically he's turned his fandom into a YOLO fandom :laugh2:
If that's what it takes, heck I'll join you!

I take full responsibility
Yeah, same, same. But I've got to joke to relieve that tiniest, tiniest bit of a niggling feeling I have or it'll grow nest season...

:dev3:

My declared goal is still to survive worlds, everything else comes later. I don't even want to imagine all the panic that might be going on during the off season with the endless possibilities of 4Lz, quad quad, 5 quads...

Well, Seimei-period Yuzuru wouldn't have been able to do what he's doing this season either. So boo to those people who can't look forward. The whole point is that every single season, he's stretching out and putting together the most challenging programs the current him is capable of.

But I've got to joke to relieve that tiniest, tiniest bit of a niggling feeling I have or it'll grow nest season...

I don't think that's how it works XD I don't think you can preempt that  It'll never stop growing until you see him land one. In that case, a yolo 4A is actually awesome for my nerves because it means that while we're here worried that he'd try to train it, he's already gone and trained it, landed it.

Hi all! First time poster here but I've been following Yuzu and this thread for a few years now. Thanks to everyone for the translations and links to pictures, videos and updates! This is really the best resource to keep updated with Yuzu news.

I admit I was one of those aunties driven to drink during 4CC. 4CC was the first time I kept up with an FS event live and I won't be doing it again for my liver. 2 bottles of champagne gone lol.

I'm delurking now as I wanted to give another former dancer's perspective on Yuzu's style of movement (I used to do ballet, hip hop, jazz and contemporary in my younger years up until university). More specifically, his posture and his arms have been the subject of criticism before as he does sometimes hunch his back and loosen his arms in his programs. In a nutshell: if hunching his back and loosening his arms naturally fits with the rest of the choreography and matches the music and emotions of the program then why not? Ballet and balletic movements are beautiful but there are other types of dance that fit the fluidity of figure skating. Why should ballet posture and arms be the standard?

For example, look at contemporary dancer Melanie Moore here and here. She hunches her back and loosens her arms several times but those details enhance her performance rather than take away from it. They are wrong in ballet terms but beautiful here and an integral part of contemporary dance, knowing when to use this freedom of movement to better express what you want to convey with the music.

Off the top of my head, I remember I loved his "bad posture" in his Worlds 2012 FS and Worlds 2016 exhibition and his "noodle arms" in Chopin and Parisienne Walkways. Of course as another poster mentioned, there are times when they become jarring as they no longer match the aesthetics of the program. You can tell it's because he's tired as everything slows down and the naturalness/ease of movement is gone.

Your mileage may vary of course and I'm just an auntie on a forum so I will mention another dancer's perspective of Yuzu. Tetsuya Kumakawa, the first Asian man to win the gold medal at the Prix de Lausanne, former principal dancer of the Royal Ballet and founder of the K-Ballet company gave him high praise. I note that Kumakawa is a classical ballet dancer but also does modern dance. He has said he's 80% ballet and 20% modern. The translation is from yuzusorbet's tumblr here.

“Hanyu has a very beautiful style and his landings are graceful.
In ballet terms, this is because he can do the 'plié’ very well (the position where you sink the body by bending the knees).
To jump high, the plié is necessary.
In his case, his awareness extends to beyond the ground (the ice) at that moment.”

Hi! Welcome and post often :thank:

Thank you for offering your perspective. :)
Just my thought, I think some like to pick on his posture and/or line because it is probably the one legit thing that he can be criticized about. It is completely nitpicking when s/o wants to criticize his jumps, spins, or skating skill, transitions etc, since he is probably one of the best on the field in terms of those.
While things like interpretation and artistry is more subjective to be debated about, that's why the posture talk keep coming back, regardless of how he has improved from his earlier senior years ;)

Haha well, every now and then, someone will try and it's funniest when they pick on transitions and the most mind-boggling when the complaint is that from element to element there's no connection and it feels empty.
:shame:
Did they just pick it out of a hat or a random generator of figure skating complaints?

I wanna ask..how many skater could do a 3A like Hanyu does, I mean one foot before and after jump.. is that so difficult like Nobunari said (forget where I watch him saying that)..?

I barely know about technical jump in FS..so..
