He matures, so does his skating. He will never be the same skater that went all out, wild and frantic, like he did at R&J1. If that means he is more controlled and calculated, then maybe that is what he is now. It is not like it is a bad thing. I actually appreciate that now he did not rush his program as much and took his time. I enjoyed his skate much more now than how he skate in his younger days. It is a matter of taste of course, but some speak as if he regressed or something.

I don't think I am an old enough fan to offer my opinion on this and I want to be careful not to step on any toes but I have a hunch that some fans like to romanticize RJ1. Yes his expression and fighting spirit was impressive but at what cost? You can call it taste but I for one enjoy his newer programs more if not only because he isn't panting for his life at the end.
 
This is a reminder to those in Canada and those who have CBC access that CBC is finally showing 4CC on television today, in a couple of hours. I am looking forward to Kurt's commentary.

Currently only Yuzuru can do counter turn then jump 3A immediately. Others might be able to do that in practice but they don't try it in competition. Yuzuru can do spread eagle 3A spread eagle (then spread eagle 3A spread eagle right after that), counter 3A spread eagle, twizzle 3A twizzle, hydroblade 3A, counter 3A fan spiral, he can add 3a right after quads and even jump many 3A consecutively, apparently he can do 3A from stand still... master of 3a.
Unless they upgrade the requirements for 3A, I don't see anyone trying to have such great 3A as Yuzuru cause they're just aiming at more quads now. The young skaters's 3A somehow make me cry.

PS: I forgot Ina Bauer into 3A, he also does it well. Yes, that YOLO 3A at the end of 4CC LP.

I was just going to say, you beat me to it :laugh:
I tried to find him going into 3A the usual way other people does it, with the relatively long setup, took me right back to his junior days.

Thank you for answering! Wow that was impressive that Hanyu could jump into 3A with variation technique.. I can't identified every jumps in FS coz everything still new for me. But I can tell if it was a 3A.. and so far Hanyu is the most impressive skater to jump 3A I've ever seen.. and I think 3A is the most beautiful jump
 
His blink and you miss it 3F. :love: The fact the 4CC one didn't get +3 all around from the judges is an injustice!
 
3A is definitely the most beautiful jump in skating... and when Yuzu does it, it is even better. No one can do them with the ease he does... I think some people don't understand how good it is because of what he adds to it. If he just did crossovers and then went into it, it would probably be even bigger, and if he didn't do transitions or another jump after it, the landing edge and flow would be greater...but because he does the transitions in and out, the average viewer may not grasp how outstanding it really is compared to the 3As of the other guys. And, I still can't believe someone gave him a *0* on the last one at 4CC.

With the "quad race", the 3A is forgotten. I watched some 3A at 4CC and I felt a major attack.
Mr. Hanyu's 3A at 4CC deserved +3 or at least very near that. It was from Ina Bauer and the distance and the flow were amazing.

Yes, so many flubbed 3As and it's such a shame because it's a gorgeous jumps that has great value too.

I genuinely would like an explanation for that 0 in the scores for the second 3A. It's truly mind boggling.
