Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I don't think it is fair to compare now Yuzu to now Nathan, but that is the nature of what happens when a young competitor beats a seasoned vetran.

I am amazed how Nathan Chen seems to exist in this separate reality to other skaters on these boards.

Everyone else seems to be evaluated based on what they present on the ice. It is a competition after all, where people are being compared by nature of the sport, against each other. Yet with Nathan it is 'not fair' to compare him to others, he has such potential, such future artistry, so much time ... yet his 'fair' scores seem to be affecting those who have already put in the time, have the skills, have the artistry now.

I know what's not fair in my book. It's not fair to see the likes of Brown, Ge, Han Yan and Boyang getting the short end of the stick. And it may have nothing to do with fairness but what Nathan's scores now are producing is nothing good. Nothing good at all. And being my favorite skater, no, I'm not particularly pleased with the way Yuzuru is being pushed into five quad programs and similar because it's not like he's going to have a choice next season the way things are going.

So not only is it fair to compare Nathan now to everyone else, it is a must.

I love Yuzu fans group photo at 4CC......and it will be great if we can gather for a quick photo at Worlds on the SP & LP days before events start with the banners/poohs/gifts (though the banner will be covering half of my face or wear a mask :hopelessness:)

To date fans that will be going: Marin, Li'Kitsu, Pamigena, Winnie_20, Danibellerika, YesWay, Hamaguri, Alia, Beki, Sugiady. Any more?

On another note, how has the Nathan discussion now made it into the FF here? One thing to the discussion about people being respectful of other posters favorites: criticizing someones scores is not hating on the skater. I know there are some posts out there that are harsh, but to be honest, I have rarely seen Nathan get actual hate on GS (especially if you compare it to what for example every Russian girl ever got, complete with weird speculation about puberty and their bodies). So of course fans of every other skater can come here into the FF too and are just as welcome as 'only' Yuzu fans, but if you want to start an actual discussion, criticising scores and everything is completely fair game. Just sayin'.

Your guess is right. The article refers to this moment in a morning news show broadcasted today.
Rough translation of the video:
Subtitle: (Yoshiki) As a child I was really sickly that people worried if I would survive until I become an adult.

I think there are quite a few of us who are fans of multiple skaters, so as Unico said, I hope we can be respectful of other skaters and their fans, even within Yuzu's fanfest. Some of us are also Patrick fans, others love Shoma, or Mura, or Nathan or Jason, Boyang.... This Fanfest is HUGE and very diverse, so there will a wide range of opinions, and I hope we can welcome everyone.

I'll be up for this meetup! And yes, I am a fan of multiple skaters. I love Yuzu the most (and Shoma a close second) and I would love to see Yuzu regain his world title and defend his Olympic title in my presence *please skate gods *), but there's no way to be sure that will happen and there's a lot of skating to enjoy because all the guys have something to bring to the table. I don't know if I would attend these events JUST because Yuzu is there. That's just a few minutes out of the hours of other skating there is to see. I only got to see his free skate in Boston and I want another opportunity to see him skate to the level he's capable of live (*really hoping for a knock out amazing LGC SP*). I feel like between Worlds and Olympics he's bound to have some brilliant performance in front of me at some point and if not then I'm just horrible luck and I apologize to all of you.

Well there is quite a bit of former GPF 2015 crowd going to these World Championships (and we all know how he did at that GPF!), so I'd think we have enough good luck charms to equal you out

Clean Chopin live was just *____________* it was so fluid and flowy and everything was gorgeous! Except for the fact that I was sitting really close to all the camera people. There was so much camera clicking, I could barely hear the music!

I do realize I've been extremely lucky with the Barcelona GPFs when it comes to Hanyu's skating there. It almost makes up for the fact that I missed seeing him live when he became the world junior champion... 1.5 hours from my home. (and no, it's not really a coincidence I started paying more attention to the junior circuit after I learned about that).
It's just weird, y'know. I cannot actually imagine him not winning Worlds.

Just so you know, though, it's not me, it's Pamigena who spreads the good karma.
