Nah, folks, seeing Yuzuru with recognisably Russian tunes creates a split in my psyche.
Though I'm fine with Crusader/battle sequences - these are gonna be hell to skate to, but could be just challenging enough for Yuzu to get interested. But not when you get Nevsky's army.

I also stand firmly when it comes to my opinion he would absolutely understand the spirit of the music.
At least I didn't suggest Tchaikovsky and his famous instrument the cannon?
Google says only one Shaun Rogers in 2006, for his SP so the answer seems to be no.

It's not that he wouldn't cope, it's that I'd have so much conflict in me. But OK, if Nathan skates to Prince Igor, why shouldn't Yuzu tackle the famous Ice Battle between the German Crusaders and Novgorod Russian army?
But I'd rather he chose something... less definitively ethnic. Or if it has to be ethnic, there's some Japanese music left there, isn't there?

Isn't is this program from 2012-2013 season? (from 1:23-) I love this hydroblade too. It matches the music very well.
I also like the hydroblade in Kim Lucine's Super Mario EX. Funny but amazing position.
Though I love Yuzu's hydro the most. (It was one of the reason I became his fun)
Well, the perk of doing not a warhorse is he can make the music his own and his trademark
(I meant I associate PW and Chopin Ballade no 1 (I know Mao skated this for an ex but still) with him in a sense) And this music is DRAMA, so I actually like it

I love that one in particular (though it is a slight different variation to Yuzuru's) because it looks so badass and it fits the music and the theme of the program really well. :agree2: Yuzuru's seimei one is just unrivaled when it comes to highlighting the program and fitting the music though

Well I did think he would choose something Japanese for the FS but then there was that Brian interview and then someone here please don't make me go back and look for it in this monstrosity of a thread mentioned Carmina Burana, which gives me hives and probably not for the reason everyone thinks but in any case, I got the impression he may be thinking of classical for the FS. Classical and powerful, and this certainly fit in that regard.

No, I meant, someone here said Brian mentioned Carmina Burana as an option so that's classical all right and kind of telling, in terms of style. Of course it may not mean anything at all, Yuzuru may have completely different ideas.

I think I've been following Brian's interviews pretty closely, but I don't think I've seen any mention of particular music so far. All he seems to have said is that they've put the best music aside to be used for the Olympic season.

Not now, no but this was apparently mentioned as an FS option a couple of years back. I mean I am not surprised if it is true, it is pretty great in terms of driving the audience and it's easy to recognize. I am just not a fan and not only because it's been done (Peizerat and Anissina come to mind right away for example).

I would say Yuzuru's .... say, outgrown the need for that? So hopefully they aren't, and I don't think they are returning to that? But if they do, one version is better than the other isn't it? XD
I hope people don't start using the hydroblade move now. When Shae and Victor were skating and they introduced the hydroblade moves and added them to every program, it was all the Canadian media could talk about and I felt like I was being hit over the head with fluff pieces about how innovative they were. It drove me crazy. It made me hate those low moves to the ice...it didn't help that I did not like B/K either. So, while I like it when Yuzu does it, because he is Yuzu and I will like almost anything he does, I just don't want to see others doing it that much.

Hopefully not but at the same time, the theme may hold, in terms of classical and powerful. I'd still prefer if he went with something Japanese, it can still fit those terms but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

There is another one out there too, when he hydrobladed (that's not a word but lets go with it) right into the wall and you can see the peeps getting up wondering where he disappeared because they couldn't see what happened. It's hilarious.

I love it when he hydroblades and hits things (gently) and act all cute about it hahahahhaaa. Is it the one that's some time after CoC (NHK? GPF?) so people were like... concerned when he disappeared off line of sight, but then he just rolled over on the ice and acted cute...
As for next season, we've been deprived of killer!eyes finishes because of the nature of HopeLega, so I'll think we'll be seeing something very powerful and intense from him next year. He does high drama so well. Who am I kidding though, this kid can killer!eyes Chopin...

It was before Sochi or at least before 2014-2015 season when they considered Carmina Burana as an option. I doubt that they still think it suits him well because he has come so far since then. Somehow I feel the time of skating to warhorse for him has passed. When you are relatively young and new in the field, using famous piece and doing great would make it easier to be acknowledged as a good performer, but when you’ve become veteran (relatively) such choice might make you look a bit conservative unless you interpret the music very well and very originally. Though I will enjoy whatever the music they choose even if it were a warhorse again. I kinda trust their choice after 2014-2015 season.
Considering his programs where he did not skate to warhorse (PW, Seimei, Chopin even LGC or to a lesser extent HnL) were well-received and gained praise + somehow became his trademark, I don't know why I doubt he would ever skate to warhorse music again. At Sochi, PW was so iconic and successful compared to RnJ2, and though skated to (almost) its best, his POTO is not as widely acclaimed as his Chopin, I think? Seimei is a wall you can't climb over so I would not even mention that
