Is it the guy who have several bootleg version of Yuzuru's costume? Or is it a different skater?

This pair is actually pretty good. Get yourself a 3Tw, triple throw and sbs 3T and you can move to senior already. Japan need some good pairs for team event, come on!

I'd love to see it too. But now no point in talking about 4Lz and 4A when his 4Lo is still not its top quality/consistency yet in competition. There is also that jump-who-must-not-be-named that he need to work on. So save the 4Lz for at least after worlds and 4A for after oly for the very least ;)

I'm tempted to call the "jump-who-must-not-be-named" the Voldemort ;)
But yes, I think we all agree that he he will probably save the 4Lz for after Worlds and the 4A for after Olympics.
Though the crazy he put in H&L at 4CC made me dream that Yuzu could YOLO a 4Lz at the end of H&L if he felt he had enough energy left to do it. It would be the most badass of the badass moves :laugh2: I know, I know, it's not realistic, but a girl can dream

 The costumes for the ceremony !!!
Yuzu is REALLY a legend, to inspire so many people ! Incredible.

No, he can get the matching to the music and good height and distance point. Maybe with creative exit and effortless throughout/good flow he can get +2. But +3 is really hard to get without steps and entrance because the delayed rotation/variation in air position would be impossible for 4A.

To be honest, judges are awarding +3s like candies nowadays to jumps just because they're impressive, so he'd be good. If he landed a 4A with any kind of good flow, he'd get some +3s. We do have to think that the scale will change post-Olympics to apparently -5 +5 so +3 might be easier to obtain anyway.

The only way it could happen is if the other high BV guys bomb and he lands all of his jumps prior to that and a clean SP thus have a huge cushion. But he usually does not know how the others are doing prior to his skate so chances are slim, but nothing is impossible. I did say before if it happens people can egg me

1 or 2 might but the majority doesn't. From what I see, the youngsters' quads have low 2s at best (deserved, imo, if landed well)? Have yet to see an absolute +3. Shoma has high GOE on his 3A but he did have that spread eagle entrance.
I think +5 is just the scale but the value of GOE might not change much. Maybe they do x0.6 for quads and x0.4 for triples x0.2 for double and so on. My biggest guess is to separate height and distance as different bullet points and maybe include air position in the bullet too. That's already 10. I don't know what 2 more could have been tbh.

You are under-estimating the current system and how iffy it is. The second someone, hopefully Yuzuru, lands the Big Impossible that is the 4A? And if that someone is a "name" already? And if it just has good flow? Those GOEs will be dropping from the sky like Rudolph and elves are hopped up on some laced weed and are zig zagging across the sky causing candies to rain down on the anointed skater.
And then this will up the overall impression and the whole score. Just look at the fainting over 5 quads and how arguably little talk Yuzuru's 4 quads created.

BTW, I don't think his 3A would be negatively affected by the 4A at all.

Have I told you I love you :luv17::rofl: I don't think his 3A will be negatively affected by the 4A either. He does 3A with everything. Warm up, jump placeholder during choreo sessions with shae-lynn, ice shows, EX, etc.... With 3Lz he's mainly tired and trying to match it to music at the end, but he also doesn't practice it all that much. Once he's trying to do the 4Lz, you can bet that most of the Lz time allotted went to 4Lz. That's not going to be the case with 3A.

I'd make it so you'd need creative entrance and creative exit to actually even make it to +4/+5 GOE... just sayin'.

But then we wonder... would any of this progress in men's FS have happened if NHK/GPF 2015 hadn't happened, Boyang notwithstanding?

The way Nathan tells it, it seems Boyang's quad pursuit inspired him at the other juniors to also start adding more and more quads. I think there are a lot of factors that came into play with the current quad craze, Yuzu is definitely one of them.

I think what I meant was more: would all this progress have happened so damn fast if Yuzu (and Boyang, in a way) hadn't broken the system in 2015?

Haha I know, but creative exit and creative entry are already in the bullet points. I would think they need at least 12 bullet points for +5 GOE and 10 would fulfill it enough for +5. Otherwise they really want a jump to fulfil all 10 to get +5 (prepare yourself for the next level - tanoed quads lol).

Anyway, yuzuru's 3A at LGC is by default +3 GOE if landed well in my opinion. Steps, difficult entrance, creative exit, matched to music and I can even arguably put delayed rotation BS in there too. So judges who give less than +3 should reevaluate their life's choices, honestly :coffee:

Yuzu just has the kind of grace you can't learn. I really like some of the current juniors, especially Jun Hwan, but Yuzu had some gorgeous skates when he was a junior. I guess with the whole quad race there's just not enough time to focus on flow and artistry.

I agree. When I saw the SBS stroking video of Yuzu and Javi, I was like "Holy crap I know Yuzu's skating is beautiful, but next to Javi you can tell he has an innate 'something special' about him...even when he's just doing backwards crossovers." No dig at Javi, of course, he has his own style, but Yuzu's grace and elegance combined with confidence and control is just  And that can't be learned because it's so basic.

Vincent Zhou can rippon his 4Lz......... :slink:

Like I said, next level! :laugh2: (As a note, if he can't put steps or entrance into it (most people have long preparation even for 3Lz) might as well just tano/rippon it for the GOE)

I think that is just simply because yuzu's SS is clearly above him (sorry Javi LU).

If junior worlds is basically as hardcore/competitive as senior worlds (seriously a 4Lz...and he was age eligible too) then what's the point of having age limits...

I would guess that the air position would be an either/or with the difficult position (tano..) bullet, kind of like how good extension on landing is with creative exit. What's the point of doing a +5 scale if they're then factored though :scratch3: Or maybe I'm not parsing this right.

And people are complaining about the same things.
That should make some people realize that the discussion wasn't because someone won over Yuzu. I think it's clear that something is happening and i don't know how i feel about the direction this is taking... (I'm not being gloomy tho! I have faith in bby space noodle)

That to me has always just been a couple people's foil to silence conversation and unravel earnest discussion.

But your air position could be all over the place and you can tano your jumps. And you can have good air position + tano your jumps? Something like that. How many skaters have WILD air position. You can't have good extension on landing when you immediately do a spread eagle/kick/fan spiral after you land, like Yuzuru did for his 3A for example. It is like height and distance more for me? You can have good height but poor distance or vice versa or both. Yuzu has both and it is unfair that he received the same GOE to those who only have good height or so-so height but good distance. So it should be 2 different bullet points in my opinion. I would argue delayed rotation and varied position could be separate bullet points too.

They are factored the same but you would see more differences in scale between the GOE? Like right now jumps that accumulate 5 bullet points might be given the same GOE to jumps who only satisfy 3/4 bullet points.
