I've always thought that his Salchow looks like his Toeloop. In the tumblr gifset where they use his jumps for jump identification, it's so hard for me to see his Salchow as a Salchow because of the way he sweeps his left leg back. His weight definitely seems more over the right leg compared to other skaters when they do the Salchow I feel...

I'd argue it is his toeloop that looks almost like his salchow, and the reason is because unlike other skaters who visibly "slam" their toepick foot on the ice, Yuzuru just lightly pick it. So from afar it sometimes look like he takes off from LBI edge instead of picking with his left foot and take off from RBO. Though on the grander scheme of things, it is a jump who take off from completely different foot and edge.

I think so too. Based on what he said, disguising that "slam" is something he put effort into achieving in order not to disturb the flow of his program. Seems like he's successful XD I'm looking forward to see his 4Lz actually. In general, the lutz "pops out" to me in a program even more than the toe loop, so I wonder what his version would look like.

Wow he said this? I never read this before, is it a written article or interview, if I might ask?
Thank you for telling me. It is always interesting to see why he does every little thing he does regarding his skating choices. Always amazed to see the reason, the philosophy, the ideals and the effort he put in, in order to materialize it.

ETA : though I can't help but wonder if this rather unconventional way of doing his 4T is causing him his lisfranc. I hope not

and whether this slightly odd salchow technique is why we have the combo of doom :slink:

some of her stuff is actually realistic

this one...not even close

(goes to show, there will only ever be one yuzu no matter how hard they try )

Don't know, most of those wax figures just scare the guts out of me. They look ghoulish.
But OK, people seem to be taking part in a competition in how best to ruin Yuzuru Hanyu's good looks.
