March 27th, Worlds - OP Day 1.

He's playing with his quads too much so his 3A decided to troll him a bit (IB-3A fall, 3Aso-3T)

So after RT: 4S3T, 4T, 4Tlo3S, 3A step out, 3T, IB-->3A fall, IB-->3A-->eagle, 3F (apparently some changes in the choreo after that)

3a2LO - that is getting interesting

3Lz, 3A, 4S, 1Lo, SP runthru (4Lo, 4S1T, 3A), 4S3T, 4S3T, 4T, 4T1/2Lo3S, 3A1/2Lo(ur)3S, 3A(fall), 3A (from here)

Italian uncle probably with secondhand information and a bit of fanboyishness but...
Massimiliano Ambesi‏ @max_ambesi 9m9 minutes ago

@yzxxjh next season, he will attempt 4Lz and maybe 4A. During training in Toronto, #Hanyu attempted 4A with good results. Work in progress

That's a killer picture.

Wild hair and fierce face...

I am at the Hartwall arena today Monday March 27 for men'practices. I have seen Yuzuru'practices. He looks very good, many good jumps. 4Loop, 4S, 3A...
I am happy now.

My friend told me:
there is an Australian old lady at the arena who said she used to teach dance and she's even seen Baryshnikov and she said Yuzu is as good as them.
And that he doesn't have to be told how to interpret the music and what to do with his body.

not sure if I should post this one but...

ib+3A(fall)

Yuzuru gave an interview at Fuji after OP it seems. Slay.

(rough trans, and video starts middle of the program)
If you ask why not do the jumps the simple way, that's probably not my style of skating. My skating is to do each element with high quality.

-----

from weibo, the missing part:
- 4CC kuyashii still in my heart, hoping to sweep it away at WC.

-------
ETA: found complete video. will update trans.

Complete video: https://twitter.com/yoosu0328/status/846310546022420480

- I have practiced well as a response (to 4cc?)
- Kuyashii (from 4CC) remains, I think the WC is for sweeping away that regret.
- "What is my performance?" - that is what I want to put out on this (WC) stage.
- If you ask why not simplify the jumps and just complete the program? That's probably not my style of skating. My skating is to do each element with high quality.
- I think I can bring out the ultimate, that the current me can do... that would be great!

Here we go panel is out.
So we have controller from Finland, specialist from USA and assistant from Germany. Actually tech panel has never been problem for Yuzuru because he doesn't have issues there ..judges are playing jokes with him usually. Now I am going to do a little investigation about Kirby what event he judged and how. I never trust NAs except Davis and Santee :roll5:

I do love his 3F.

Max posted Yuzu's run through from OP today on facebook ITA group. Some (everything he said) choice quotes, artfully translated by facebook automatically XD:

At This moment in time, there's too much meat on the fire and the focus is clearly on the Olympics.
In training is completed the 4 LZ with discrete percentages and was landed even some quadruple axel rotated.
The jump from edge are always challenging and the entry of the quadruple salchow is not of the most simple. Lately, in short the combination 4 S / 3 T gives no big problems and also today was performed well in practice.

Lys translated this second one. This one, in particular, mirrors what Yuzu just said in interview after OP:

There's nothing to do/say, winning or losing, he has something more than others. Simplifying his programs, in simpler words 'making them poorer' he could win easily (Nathan Chen and not only him, who are teaching examples of doing that) but he will never do that because he plays another game. We are not speaking about difficulty, about number of rotations, but about how jumps are inserted in choreography. He is this way. Take it or leave it.

The whole thread is excellent :)

Hey guys! I'm still at practices (though it's winding down and I'm heading out after pairs) but I uploaded Yuzu's whole session to my drive. Last I checked it's still processing, but when it's up, enjoy!

Yuzuru: "Mama Orser, Pooh says I should try do 4lz as last jump!"
Tracy and Orser: "Not again..."

What a difference from last year's Worlds. This time Brian & Tracy seem to be making a concerted effort to emotionally support him, support he didn't appear to get in Boston.

That little "talk" they all had in that conference room at TCC seems to have produced positive results. So nice to see Yuzu looking so happy.

@runrun8383 drew yuzu smiling tenderly at Pooh. Aaaahh my heart!

Good morning! :D i wish you could see my face, i'm smiling so much!
I'm so glad to see him in such a good mood (The facepalm pic hahahaha)
I am a bit sad though, if he's seriously practicing 4A this means... The end is near. I don't want him to leave, please Brian, stop him, don't let him practice it until after PC!:slink:
And so glad to see Tracy there too :D I wonder what the chances are of seeing her with Yuzu in the K&C after the FS?
Anyway, already feeling the effects of the Hanyu high! Gotta work hard to get my day off to see the SP :D!

How was it last year at Worlds ?

By the way, the ISU channel is apparently going to be streaming live practices starting on Wednesday.

Good news. But I wonder how would they do when there are two ongoing practice sessions in different rinks. Maybe just sharing the practice at the main rink?

:otopic:I’m also wondering where I can find the newest, correct schedule of the competition. The one on the ISU site and the one on the Worlds’ official site differ from each other. Now I’m just guessing from my timeline whether the session started or not. Is this something related to daylight saving time?? If anybody knows please tell me how to find the correct schedule.

No prob about the upload guys!

It's great being at a live event again. Funnily enough, it's my third European big Yuzu event, and once again I feel like I've landed in Japan.
They've started putting up the banners! Expect to see a whole lot more!

You know, I was saying this to my friends. It's like, no matter where I am in the world, once I'm in that arena it's all the same. Skating is universal, definitely. And certain faces become more familiar too!

My friend told me:
there is an Australian old lady at the arena who said she used to teach dance and she's even seen Baryshnikov and she said Yuzu is as good as them.

I was sitting by her. She was a hoot! She said he's beautiful and his skating is beautiful.

I'm going to try to upload my pics and the rest of the videos and I'll also try to split up my video and place it on youtube without the copyright issues. Hopefully it will upload to 1080p that I recorded it in.
