He was great!!! Regardless of the combo. Seeing his disappointment really brought my mood down, naturally, but I have mostly recovered. Reading through the thread definitely helped.

He will skate a great free. I'm sure of it.

But I could also use some hugs... today was intense.

I think we all need it, and Yuzu especially. Hope he is feeling our support someway

I'm glad the next two Olympics are in Asia. I feel like judging is always much more fair in Asia. Japan doesn't seem afraid to lowball their own skaters, lol.

Same, probably. There's no one else I'd be interesting in following, anyway. I like baby Cha, but he's from Korea, so I'd probably be even angrier at the injustice of his PCS. I was so angry during Junior Worlds...

I think I'm only watching Yuzuru live for the FS and come back for the results once it's over, otherwise I'm going to be furious about the PCS and GOE...

Not fair maybe this is one of the reason any skater who won Olympic retired. Judges expect them to be perfect! Duh.

I'm not sad or disappointed. No matter what, I trust him. Nothing is lost, especially since he is a fighter who never gives up. We believe in you Yuzu. Ganbatte !! Ganbatte !! Luckily I can watch Hope and Legacy.

Finally I've been able to watch the skate - it was great! To hell with the combo - the rest was just terrific - and as far away from anything he did before as possible. He's among the most versatile skaters ever.
So... WTT for the perfect LGC?

I haven't had time to watch yet, but let me just say that reading you regrouping together made me feel really good, despite the obvious not fantastic results on paper.

ISU just wants them to go away because olympic gold medalists are very marketable (especially from rich countries where ISU can stand to make a profit) so if someone wins a repeat OGM it's kind of a loss for them because no newly crowned olympic champion to pimp out

I'm feeling the same. I'm too invested in Yuzu to quit right now, although I considered it to be honest (but not because of Yuzu)...

Or the judges would suddenly recognize that two-footed skating does not actually count as transistions... who knows? They are trying their best to shut me out of this sport and I shall be glad to follow through once Yuzu retires.

I think the way judging is managed in FS is ridiculous and ISU have huge luck FS is still an olympic sport TBH. I'm actually waiting for another Salt Lake City, because this is the direction things are going, and I don't think another scoring overhaul will help since judges mentality will be the same and it looks like they know how to use COP

By golly I re-watched his performance again, and I can't believe he didn't get all 10s for that performance!! That was the best ever!!!
At the least, being able to perform like that after making a mistake alone should count for 10s! I mean, that step sequence

I was reminded of all this back-and-forth before the competitions of some other skater's supposedly "balletic" talents. And all that seems rather silly now, because what was everyone even talking about?? I don't think anything can stand beside THIS performance by Yuzu!!

So I was lucky to watch the video before they got there...

I was there in the arena today. He gave an amazing performance. He engaged each section of the crowd with a special moment. He was unique in that. Really positive energy and response. Obviously the roof would have blown totally off if he'd gone clean. That's just how it goes. My sister, who isn't biased and crazy like us, also thought he was the most special and the true star. He has nothing to regret on the performance side.

But Javi and Shoma created their own moments. Almost everyone did! So many SBs! Javi's jumping passes had true wow factor and I love that program. Despite the crossovers, Shoma's skating gives an impression of smoothness and finesse. And he is incredibly musical, as Yuzu also is.

I'm not saying the scores are perfect. Subjectively I felt Javi was high. Patrick was high. Yuzu should be above Boyang. Boyang should be further ahead of Nathan. It's more the point spread than the placements that will be the issue. It's just that being there I can't feel any bitterness. The skating was that great.

Apparently the quad loop DOES look too easy. He did it perfectly repeatedly in warmup. I'm not eagle-eyed and I was distracted because it's my first live event, but I didn't see him attempt the salchow. That was a warning bell. Do I think he should change it? Yes. Do I think he will? No. But the event isn't over, so we don't yet know the consequences of his (probable) stubbornness.

Try to see him live if you can make it happen. It was a rush like jumping out of a plane.
