Obviously the roof would have blown totally off if he'd gone clean. That's just how it goes. My sister, who isn't biased and crazy like us, also thought he was the most special and the true star. He has nothing to regret on the performance side.

But Javi and Shoma created their own moments. Almost everyone did! So many SBs! Javi's jumping passes had true wow factor and I love that program. Despite the crossovers, Shoma's skating gives an impression of smoothness and finesse. And he is incredibly musical, as Yuzu also is.

I'm not saying the scores are perfect. Subjectively I felt Javi was high. Patrick was high. Yuzu should be above Boyang. Boyang should be further ahead of Nathan. It's more the point spread than the placements that will be the issue. It's just that being there I can't feel any bitterness. The skating was that great.

Apparently the quad loop DOES look too easy. He did it perfectly repeatedly in warmup. I'm not eagle-eyed and I was distracted because it's my first live event, but I didn't see him attempt the salchow. That was a warning bell. Do I think he should change it? Yes. Do I think he will? No. But the event isn't over, so we don't yet know the consequences of his (probable) stubbornness.

Try to see him live if you can make it happen. It was a rush like jumping out of a plane.

I think he did do a perfect 4S-3T in warmup. It was *perfect.* He tripled (maybe it was on purpose to conserve energy) the 4Lo in warmup too. It was a REALLY good warmup for him. I thought the writing was on the wall. And after that 4Lo, even more so.

He was perfect. I don't care about the mistake. He was still perfect in my eyes </3 I screamed so hard that I think the people in front of me turned around, lol.
 
Yeah I saw the 4S3T during warm-up too. it wasn't on my side of the rink but it looked good from afar
 
As I said, being present today I could only feel positive, but the thought did flit across my mind that JSF has switched to backing Shoma.

There are some reassuring precedents. WC 2012 and 2014 were clutch performances when his back was to the wall. I may feel sick with the intensity of the situation on Saturday.

I did a quick translation but I didn't check it so I won't post it here lol (I'm not to confident with my Japanese->any language translation skills) however, what I gathered was that:

But that his loop was good(beautiful/perfect?). Then something about how he succeeded in "becoming one with the audience(or all his fans that we're gathered in the arena)'? With this performance, and I think he said he enjoyed that very much.
They ask him what kind of performance he wants to give for the FS (and this is where he sounds like he's about to cry) and ofc he says that he wants a perfect (no miss) performance.

Only wrote what I understood :) I'm sure someone will do a better translation though! I just wanted to contribute a bit :)

How does a federation back a skater? Besides nationals placements.
 
I have just got back from arena and I am all empty, despite mistake I felt the performance was the best this season, i can't help but still mourn about that combo, why you have to be that stubborn Yuzu, and yep I also feel that JSF backs up shoma more now because Yuzu is having pretty inconsistent season. Whatever happens I'll keep supporting him, sadly he never gets as much love from judges as others now 😑

I'm sorry, I didn't want to share earlier because I was upset over that clip. Not at him, but all the circumstances combined to make him feel that way. No, Yuzu, you don't lack abilities. Performance is performance, score is score, remember? :'(

I've been outside, went eating sushis in good company, came back just in time to watch the last group of Pairs and see Sui/Han slay (\o/), and my morale is much better now.
I've rewatched Yuzu's performance and it's amazing. I don't care about the scores. What counts is the performance, and he was still the most impressive on the ice.
Whatever happpens saturday I love him and his skating. He's unique.

Word of mouth. I think it's like running a political campaign. Ashley is having a similar problem with Karen. It's cynicism and intuition on my part; I have zero qualifications to discuss it.

I am only now reading how the combo was judged. That is complete bs. Blatant shafting. If he had unqualified support, would the judges dare?

Speaking of Nationals... withdrawing was right for him, but it may have hurt his standing.
 
He's doubting his abilities? Oh my god.

B.Esp wasn't so negative. But they did change from "finest skater ever" to "finest skater of the last few years" :cry:

I don't want to hear what they have to say about the others, though.
 
I'm sure once he got his skate clean for free skate (and if lucky enough breaks the WR), he would cry in the K&C.... Like he did in gpf 2015.. He seems to hold all the ppressures.. Once it out, he will cry a river.. Of course it's a happy tears.
 
God no no no no, Yuzu you aren't lacking anything. Just when I thought I couldn't be more upset about it ugh...
I saw the video now, since I couldn't watch his full performance and I think it was one of the best I've seen, even with that CoD misbehaving again... But watching that TES sinking... I don't think I can watch it again...
Edit: gladiolusc thanks for filling in the blanks! Like I said I only wrote what I could understand (seems like I missed the negative in one part lol, Freudian slip maybe) so I didn't do a word by word translation haha

That skating order in the free doesn't do him any favors... I think the judges aren't treating him any differently, just that the other guys have caught up and pushed forward. He still got higher PCS than Shoma and had the 3rd highest PCS of the night. It's just that Patrick and Javi had great skates.

Yes! I'm quoting because it deserves to be said twice. My feelings are all over the place and my words aren't consistent but what you say is the truth.
