...my intent with this program—because Mr Hisaishi’s music envelops the entire arena rather than overly emphasizes itself—in my mind, I only exist as a part of that space and I want to perform the program as such. The wind over the rink, the coolness in the air, the moisture, the splashing crystals of ice… to bring all these things into one with myself and the music. If I can put together such a performance in the end, I think that would be the best.

He said this in interview with Ice Jewel after NHK Trophy. What does a program that envelops the arena look like?
He did it, he put together the performance, and showed us and the world :')

Oh boy. That WC WAS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER. I was so sad when Yuzu ended up 5th in SP, but was convinced he would come back in the free. And I started to freak out during the 6min. I stopped breathing when his music started until he landed that damn 4S+3T... Making me litterally scream and jump all around my room. The magic happened. Thanks Yuzuru :love:
 
I consider myself a fan of figure skating, sparkly and colorful costumes, music (pretty much any kind), and pretty skaters.
That said, I could not tell you what jumps Yuzu did when (and I didn't bother learning the jump layout beforehand), but seeing him live in that costume, skating a world record to music by Hisaishi is Magnificent. It's like a four-minute dream you live in... and then the longest hour of your life starts.
I feel terrible for having a mental checklist; every time the other skaters made mistakes, I was like, okay, when can I check this skater off the list for being a threat to Hanyu's score? I like the other skaters, too, I just like Hanyu better lol.

I want to say a big thank you to aliajackson for keeping us updated on the meetings and stuff, it is wonderful !!! to hang out during breaks and chat!

When I woke up this morning I was honestly a bit terrified to see the results, when I saw that he had won AND broke the world record I immediately burst into tears. Guys...I am so happy right now :cry: I couldn't be more proud of him, this boy never ceases to surprise me :bow:
 
I'm so happy:yahoo: I think after his first 4S I started crying and I couldn't stop until 10 min before:o: BTW the spainish aunties were in awe. Later I'll post the translation of their comments:love:
 
As a fan only since GPF last year, I've been regretting not having been a fan earlier and when he started breaking world records... Now I feel a bit better lol. The boy's surreal. I hoped he'd blow our minds, but I was too afraid to expect it. And yet he did, majorly... :drama::hap57:

I was a bit torn about Javi, because I really like him - I have a thing for underdogs and Javi generally seems to be a bit of an underdog - and I wanted him to do well, but not well enough to beat Yuzu... In the end, I'm sad he finished off the podium... Seeing Yuzu being so sweet makes me feel better again, though.

Also, as a newbie when it comes to figure skating, someone mentioned there being clear indications of how to give GOE points. Is there like a checklist or so? I'm curious what the judges could possibly claim wasn't perfect for Yuzu to get those points... especially his spins, this time, they really didn't like them much and I can't imagine what more he could do on those, either... I already have my own conspiracy theory of why judges might be extra harsh on Yuzu, but I feel I should learn more about the technicalities before commenting further ^^;

Oh and it's confirmed he'll be at WTT, too? *fingers crossed for world record LGC* :cheer:
