John Wilson Blades tweeted that Yuzu is the GOAT. #recognize

:otopic: Pooh is looking great! :luv17: He looks freshly dry-cleaned and so fluffy! I saw Yuzu giving him some soft squishes in the KnC when he was waiting for his score. So sweet.

Rewatched the fs and I wanna send a giant thank you to the audience in the arena. The cheering after he landed the combo will remain as one of the greatest moment of my figure skating life; I believe Yuzu will agree with me. Group hugging everybody, once again we survived! Road to Olympics!

Dazzling Free Skate Lifts Yuzuru Hanyu to World Title

“Yuzu just went to another place today, and you can’t put yourself there,” said Tracy Wilson, who coaches him in Canada with Brian Orser. “You just put yourself into the training and hope you end up there.”

“After the short program, I was quite depressed, so deeply depressed,” Hanyu said. “But I think my fans and the team believed in me, so I think that’s why I was able to pull off this performance today.”

He was alone on the ice, however, and also the one who, according to Wilson, made the big decisions that led to Saturday’s victory.

“When something is taken away from you, that is so motivating,” she said of Hanyu’s failure to win the gold medal in the last two world championships. “To be just 19 and Olympic champion, you’re learning lessons on the fly. And he’s remarkable in how he’s learned and in his strength of character in going after it and staying with it. Even with adding the quad loop and doing four quads, we talked to him about it and asked, ‘Do you really need it? Why not the quad loop with three quads and then add in?’

“And his answer was, ‘This is why I do this. I want to push the sport. I want to push myself.’”

Hanyu gave credit in particular to Jin, the powerful Chinese teenager, but also talked about what may come next.

“Scientifically, someone told me that five rotations in the air is a possibility, but the I.S.U. don’t even have scores for that,” Hanyu said, referring to quintuple jumps and the sport’s governing body, the International Skating Union. “The reason we have so many types of quad today is because of Boyang. No doubt he’s the one who pushed us all, because he did the quad Lutz and a classic, clean performance, and we realized you can do the quad Lutz. It’s humanly possible. So he’s responsible for pulling us all up to the level we’re at today.”

“If he skates a clean short and a clean long, I might think he might be unbeatable,” Fernández said of Hanyu.

A few moments later, Hanyu arrived in the interview area, hugged Fernández, removed the shiny new gold medal from his own neck and placed it around the Spaniard’s.

But there was no doubt on Saturday about where it really belonged.

lol during the medal ceremony Robin Cousins said that one of Shoma Uno's achievements was beating Yuzuru at the Nationals. I mean I guess technically he did since Yuzuru wasn't there to compete but still haha

;) we never had anyone who came back from 5th to win back a World Title. This win of Yuzuru is not just a normal win, it is historical. :drama:

Lol my dear cousins. I have been irked about how he called out "Yuzuru only have level 1 on his choreo sequence" during the olympics, but then again he may not keep up with the sport closely like you might think, so this kind of TAT-like incorrect "facts" will occur time and time again.

My throat hurts and the amount of happy tears I cried today could probanly fill oceans. I am not quite sure how to put into words what I witnessed today. Yuzu was skating in another dimension. And I still cannot fathom that I saw Hope and Legacy in its complete form. Everything fell into place. Everything was perfect. He launched into the 4S and I knew it would work out this time. And it was so important to prove to himself and to the world what he is capable of. I'm so proud of him and so thankful for letting me witness this program.

And urgh the judges scores make my head ache. Just imagining what his scores could have looked like if he was scored as the others were... But I am not going to let that effect my mood for now.

;) OK, I don't want to go to the Men FS thread so if someone can copy paste my comment there I would appreciate.

Tell the folk who said Yuzuru won due to PCS that: Yuzuru SHOULD HAVE WON BY A MUCH LONGER MILE HAD HIS PERFORMANCE WAS THE LAST ONE, not the first.

They hold down his GOE QUITE A LOT. Had he skated last, he would have scored 225 or even 230, period. :rolleye:

Those stupid numbers don't matter. Because after the SP, he was almost out of the podium so judges hold down his GOE (and even PCS). They gave Javi and Shoma some very very generous GOE even though frankly, they did not deserve that.

Don't play with the numbers, those numbers are not different from 6.0 era, that is the truth.

Guys, I'm so happy for Yuzu  !
This week was a emotional roller coaster and we survive it! :drama:
Tomorow we'll see our beautiful Swan Prince, hope to see the Crazy Swan, too  and the quad contest!
I'm going to bed now because I'm beat :bed:. Hope to dream about Yuzu doing a 4A and landing it perfect.
Good night, guys, and have fun! :2thumbs:

Thanks everyone for the hint with the team trophy, forgot that.

Also a small remark unrelated to the scores today (which .. I'm still sighing and tearing up)
I just noticed today how good of a hugger he seems? Like he always hugs with his whole body. (My lord when he hugged javi and Tracy.. I cannot...)
Sorry I'll see myself out now :P

I can't wait to go home and watch his free program again and again, this is the best happy day for me:luv17::laugh:

I think it depends on the person. I have seen him hug other people and it isnt like that with everyone!! He is close with those people.

He leans in and snuggles a little bit, just looks comfortable overall ^_^ Adorable to watch.

That was face-palm worthy.
But he was great during the skate itself, I love how he commented on Yuzuru's jumps, and I do agree. The Italian ladies agreed about the lightness of the skate.
