Another photo set from the banquet. :)

A beautiful article about Yuzuru in Chinese. (He's so beloved there, I hope he gets to meet them in Beijing :luv17:)

This may be the cutest pic of yuzu i've seen (yuzu and boyang):luv17:

:o: These two cuties will be the death of me. One more! Why is he eating in that corner and not at a real table?? Who's he sharing his plate with? How can he be 22??? So many question

With Wang/Liu :luv17:

i'm uploading some clips: 4T-1Lo-4T attempt plus Misha, 3A fall reaction (3A was like that revenge 3A and I wasn't fast enough to get it :sad21:
Let me know if you have problems with the links

Thank you to EVERYONE on this thread for posting videos and pictures and links and all interesting tidbits of info!!!

I'm glad to see Yuzu and the other skaters enjoying themselves at the banquet. They all worked so hard and deserve the relaxing time.

LOL Yuzu and Boyang look so cute!

The article on weibo is absolutely beautiful and reflects what most of us fans feel in our hearts. It's a privilege to watch Yuzu skate. He's not just an amazing and inspirational athlete, but such a beautiful, exquisite artiste! Even friends and family of mind who don't follow figure skating remember him after I show them his videos. He's just THAT awesome.

LOL Federer is my fave tennis player too so it's been a great time lately... :D

Funny Judge 5.
+3 for everything-plus-kitchen-sink 3F, seemed-a-little-off-axis-but-out-of-ina-bauer 3Lz.
+2 for 4Lo, 4S (really?!) , 3A-2T (really??!?!)
+1 for 4S-3T, 4T, 3A-lo-3S
+0 for FCSSp ^_^||

As reference, he gave
+3 GOE to Shoma's 3A-3T and 3A-lo-3F
+3 to Patrick's 4S.
+3 to Javier's 4T,

:scratch2:

Thanks Moria!

Quick observation for top 6 updating as I type:

Judge 1 SPN :
Give lower PCS to Yuzu than Javi (94.5 vs 96.5 lol pls), even Javi get higher PCS than Patrick (95); Boyang (76) Nathan (79.5) Shoma (89.5)
give 19.5 GoE to Yuzu (the highest) 10 to Javi, other get 10-ish but Nathan (-1.3)

Judge 2 CHN :
Actually give him high PCS 98 (highest) but 90 to Boyang (LOL), Nathan (85), Javi (94.5) Chiddy (94,lower than Javi yikes pls) Shoma (88.5)
Yuzu got the highest GOE (19.9), Shoma (7) Boyang (18.4 haha) Nathan -4.5, Patrick (6.4) Javi (5.4) --> generally okay aside of clear national bias to Boyang but this judge is generally stingy as hell

Judge 3 RUS :
Give almost similar PCS for Yuzu and Shoma (97.5 vs 97 YIKES), Boyang (83) Nathan (85) but rightfully gave chan (93.5) ahead of Javi (92)
Again Yuzu rightfully receive the highest GOE (25.80) but also generous to Uno (19.80). Boyang (13) Nathan (-4.2) Chan (5.5) Javi (5.7)

Judge 4 ISR :
This one loves Yuzu. Highest PCS (98.5) but again not so much gap with Shoma too (96), CHan (95.5) a bit ahead of Javi (95) Boyang (83.5) Nathan (84)
Highest GOE for Yuzu (25.6) Shoma (19) Boyang (11.1) Nathan (-0.3) Patrick (11.7) Javi (11.2) --> pretty ok I think, Shoma's PCS and GOE a bit too high but well J4 like JPN men

Judge 5 CAN :
Despise Yuzuru lol. PCS (93.5) give him lower PCS than Shoma (95, are you drunk), Boyang (80.5) Nathan (79.5) Patrick (94.5) Javi (91) --> it almost felt like J5 spite Yuzu lol
Highest GOE for Yuzu (18.2) Shoma (12.8), Boyang (6.8) Nathan (-8.4) Patrick (14.7, generous I might say) Javi (3)

Judge 6 KOR :
This one loves Yuzu but don't give much gap to others. Highest PCS (98.5)not so much gap with Shoma (96.5). Boyang (85.5) Nathan (83) Patrick (95.5) Javi (97,excuse me with a fall are you drunk)
Highest GOE for yuzu (26) Shoma (18.3) Boyang (18.7) Nathan (0.8) Patrick (13.5) Javi (6.8)

Judge 7 AUS
Highest PCS to Yuzu (97.5) Shoma (92.5) Boyang (89) Nathan (89.5) Patrick (96) Javi (96, again with a fall wth judge)
Highest GOE too (22) Shoma (15.6) Boyang (18.1) Nathan (-0.2) Patrick (9.5) Javi (14). --> this judge not amused with Shoma, likes Javi and imo give Jin and Chen PCS tad too high

Judge 8 UKR
Give lower PCS to Yuzu (97.5) than Shoma (98, lmao wth) Boyang (90.5???) Nathan (89, with 2 falls?????) Patrick (93.5) Javi (96.5, again with a fall wth judge)
Highest GOE to Boyang lmao what are you drunk Yuzuru (22.1) Shoma (18.1) Boyang (22.3) Nathan (1.5) Patrick (14.8) Javi (8.8). --> this judge is just drunk I gave up

Judge 9 UK
Highest PCS to Patrick. yuzu (95.5) Shoma (94.5) Boyang (94.5 (WHAT THE HELL JUDGE)) Nathan (88.5) Patrick (97) Javi (92) LMAO BOYANG PCS I GAVE UP
Highest GOE to Yuzu (21.4) Shoma (12.2) Boyang (15.2) Nathan (-5) Patrick (10.9) Javi (1.3). --> I actually agree with the GOE ordinal though it is stingyyyyyy

Conclusion : Funny, I disagree with all of them. I did similar thing at GPF 16 and I rightfully agree to the ordinal/point gap to at least 3/4 of the judges. So many huh?????? things in this I need to digest first

My take :
1. I find myself agreeing with Chinese judge score the most aside of Boyang's score and stinginess. And maybe higher PCS for Chiddy about 2-3 points from Javi.
2. The AUS, ISR and KOR judge seems like what it would be like judged under normal circumstances and normal sentiment (to a lesser extent the RUS judge). Look at their scoring to see what the trend is in general
3. Yuzuru actually received mostly over 97.5 PCS even 98.5 but the saltiness of Spanish and Canadian judge bring his final score down. Same with GOE, many give him in the 22 range, 25 and 26 but salty SPN and CAN judge gave below 20 so the average dropped to 22-23
4. If I count out National Bias of their skater, the SPN and CHN judge actually is how I want to judge/score them
5. UK and UKR I just don't get them lol I need someone to help me fathom their score. At least for SPN and CAN it is justified with national bias :palmf:
6. I must say, I come to the conclusion that the judging here is a bit of a mess :slink:

thank you for the comments about the judging

i absolutely agree that the judging here is a mess! such a big difference in the range of scores!

the canadian judge is a disgrace to all judges

like where is the professional ethic and impartiality that judges are meant to have??!

March 30th/31st, Worlds - SP

Found today’s SP on Daily Motion.
I haven’t played it myself though.

I can’t think of anything to say now. I'm just tired.

Omg check out skatefinland snapchat, Yuzu playing with dog filter so cute! Anyway, gambatte Yuzu!

According to this article he said “I have two more 4S in the free. I want to focus on them.” to the reporter. :palmf: :dbana:
Yeah, prepare yourself, 4S…

I just managed to watch it for the first time, and everything's great apart from the slow start & combo??

also, don't know if it's been posted yet but sounds still up ( for now at least ) https://youtu.be/W1vSxRrtXlU

Rough translation of A. Grishin and T. Tarasova's comments.

T.T. 4Lo for the first time in the world it is done in the SP
Smart (about how he used his leg) 4S uhh…
A.G At the 4CC, that we didn’t watch, he jumped the 4S.
T.T. Yes he did, I know, but they don’t show it here (I guess she means in Russia)
|
So much freedom. So free! (When he jumped 3A)
|
Such a thrill (enjoyment) in every move! Heaven, pure heaven!
What a delight! What a pleasure! Even if he made the mistake, he made the mistake after 4S, he opened up a bit late. He restrained himself and jumped immediately a 2T with 2 hands up.
A.G. Beautiful! The publics' excitement is perceived accordingly, exactly as it is in Hartwell arena at the moment, all the 10000 fans have thrown, won’t be surprised if it’s a few hundred of winy the pooh at Yuzu. There are so many flowers as well the ice is full, unbelievable.
T.T. Such pleasure to watch how great athletes improve their skills. I remember him young, when they just arrived, one could see right away his talent. He could turn as he wanted, big steps and jump well the only thing was he didn’t have strength yet. Look at his legs now, so strong, before they were as two strings.
A.G. Became. Look how many times he’s winning.
T.T. Tracy Wilson is working now with Brian Orser.
This freedom of his is such a delight to watch (freedom and easiness in movement). Look now (4S) ..Opp ..
A.G. …And the 2T with two hands up.
T.T. Interesting how they’ll appreciate him (what score he’ll get)?
A.G I don’t want to say now as at the moment the Tech judges think that the 2T shouldn’t be counted and appointed a -4 to the 4S. For now the 2T is not counted at all. Still this is not the final decision.
T.T. Very interesting, why? I don’t know this rule.
A.G. There were no 3s (I’m not exactly sure what they mean by that)
T.T. Yes there were no 3s’. There was the second leg which he used to launch from. So they leave it as it is. Without a Quad. So that everyone else will be scared.
A.G. Yes they leave it as it is. Without a Quad and without a combo. As well they counted the late start, this way he’s losing much at this point.

Sorry for the grammar mistakes. I didn't edit much as i didn't want to paraphrase anything.

Can someone translate this https://www.instagram.com/p/BSRHw8-D7mL/?taken-by=runrun_yuzu please? :thank:

I did a quick translation but I didn't check it so I won't post it here lol (I'm not to confident with my Japanese->any language translation skills) however, what I gathered was that:
Of course, he feels kuyashii because he failed the Salchow again, then they asked him about his jumps, and I think he said that he knew he would get a deduction? But that his loop was good(beautiful/perfect?). Then something about how he succeeded in "becoming one with the audience(or all his fans that we're gathered in the arena)'? With this performance, and I think he said he enjoyed that very much.
They ask him what kind of performance he wants to give for the FS (and this is where he sounds like he's about to cry) and ofc he says that he wants a perfect (no miss) performance.

Only wrote what I understood :) I'm sure someone will do a better translation though! I just wanted to contribute a bit :)

I'm sorry, I didn't want to share earlier because I was upset over that clip. Not at him, but all the circumstances combined to make him feel that way. No, Yuzu, you don't lack abilities. Performance is performance, score is score, remember? :'(

Q: We felt your determination in making the combo, about that, what are your thoughts.
YH: I didn't think I would get a deduction. But it can't be helped. 4Lo was well done and I was very focused, but because the result was this, I really feel my lack of abilities.
Q: Ice fans in the arena, came together as one in your performance. Did you feel that?
YH: I am very happy about that. But result is result, I have to accept this and do my best at the FS.

Interview with English subs (sorry if already shared)

He enjoyed his perfomance after all. But the part about his abilities...:palmf:

I downloaded SP with Russian commentary to my Google Drive when it was still available. The sound is weird though.

https://youtu.be/cN7YUY8NKBE
Interview with Charlie white

Anyone noticed how he panicked for a bit when he saw that Pooh want in the boards? He couldn't even tell Brian, he was just hitting the boards with his hand and pointing to Pooh until Brian put it back...

Found an article in Mainichi in which he talked about the effort he made for his 4S after 4CC. I thought its worth sharing so I translated, but I’m not sure my translation would convey what was written in Japanese. This article made me imagine how sad he was after the SP. Wish his effort will be rewarded in FS.

Here's my rough translation.
*Blue part is note by me, and purple part is where I’m a little bit unsure due to my lack of technical knowledge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hanyu was focusing on one thing, to skate clean without making mistake on jumps, but he failed. “I’m very regretful” he said as if controlling his emotion.

What prevented him from achieving that was the combination jump starts with 4S. He seemed to have jumped nicely but the landing became shaky and he touched down on his left knee. After a pause he combined a 2T, but it wasn’t taken as a combination jump and he received a huge point deduction. “A mistake is a mistake.” He said. “I didn’t expect to land that way, but when I saw the replay I noticed that the axis of the jump tilted backward.”

At 4CC held in February he missed 4S both in short and long. At that time the curve going into the jump was more straight and the axis tilted forward. After the competition he received advises from a coach (or coaches?) and a former Olympian (or Olympians?) known as good jump coaches and worked on fixing the entrance, to draw a shallow curve with his left foot to be able to put his weight on the curve. As a reward, he could fully rotate the jump (in SP), but could not adjust the curve (to land properly.) “I wonder why I can’t make use of my experience. I’m very disappointed with myself.”

He received another point deduction for violating 30 seconds rule and became more than 10 points behind the leader. “The mistake on Salchow was costly. Basically you can’t make mistake in SP,” he said, but he can still make up for the mistake. “I want gold medal so I’m going to fix it.” In free program he will bet everything on the quad-Salchow which he will attempt twice.

If this has already been shared, sorry bc I didn't see
but it's so cute I just had to share it! Never thought I'd see Yuzuru through a sc filter.

Hope you all cheer up, let's just try our best to cheer him on in the free!
(tbh I'm salty about the -1.00 deduction for the starting pose but what can we do)

CBC had their broadcast and they were complimentary about yuzu's program. Kurt was back to gushing about how good he is, saying that the 4loop was perfect and how he was in awe of the guys who could do edge jump quads because there was no solid take off point. He gushed over the skating in and out of the 3axel too, praising his skating skills. He again said how he was a huge star in the skating world with devoted fan followers. They pointed out the weight shift being the reason for the non combo decision. I think this was the first time the CBC crew has commented on his sp and you could tell they really liked it.

They had a little interview with yuzu and he again, like with Charlie, said he has 2 more chances at the 4sal. Kurt said these guys live for doing those jumps.

I have no idea if this has been posted yet but

My god is he cute... and he looks happier with himself so that makes me very happy :)
Also did I get that right he has a friend on the rinkside? But yeeees my boy you have many many fans who are all rooting for you :hap10: :cheer:

Apparently PJ said in another video that Yuzuru helped fixing her phone?

I wonder what did he do, he is really good at such thing.

A few words from a commentator a while ago but it reflects our thoughts on Yuzuru Hanyu and this sport. Please retweet with us to support him!

https://twitter.com/YureyaPooh/status/847669448228061185

“We have taken for granted that Yuzuru Hanyu should be the first as we have been so used to his unbeatable achievements. But nothing exists without a reason, everything we expected from Yuzuru Hanyu comes at a price with his diligent training and mental strength. We can sit there and enjoy his performance but it’s always a tough battle for him. Yuzuru Hanyu’s presence is not there for another world record or champion. He himself is the figure skating. The fact that he transforms himself into this sport compels admiration. If there is another miracle in this world, I wish it is named after Yuzuru Hanyu."

I was there in the arena during the men 's short programs. His short program is very good, except for the combination 4S+3t which became 2t with a little delay near the board. The judges are very harsh on him, very friendly with Chan, Shoma especially their favorite Fernandez. In the arena, we did not understand why his score had a deduction of 1 point.
I understand afterward that this is -1 point deduction for 3 seconds late at the beginning of the program.
Anyway, the judges can do what they want. I don't care anymore.
I regret that I did not stay in the arena to see the pairs free program.
I went back to my hotel to eat and rest, then I did not want to go back to skating.

Hi everyone, sorry to be late. My WiFi at the hotel room is so late, and my pc doesn't work comfortably. I wanted to share my report here, but it may be difficult since I can't write text with pc and can't share my photos. Im so sorry.

My heart broke last night. At practice morning, I was so excited to see yuzu for the first time since nhk cup 2015. He got mannly and handsome, and got much muscles. He just was photogenic from every single a moment and angle! I just kept taking photos of hom. But it's my first experience and it's difficult to catch him. So you can't expect my photos, haha... he was in good shape.

And what can I say... at 6min warm up, he was so nice. The arena was supportive to yuzu. But the voice kept loudly and he got 1 point reduction... so sorry for him. he really was a rock star. He got much bigger scale than before. He rocked the arena. I don't want to think about 4s. Skating god is very cruel. Ive heard his back is much worse, so he couldn't do that pose curving his back enough. All I can do is wishing his health till retirement.

But I want to believe every mountain he must crimb is leading to the gold of Pyongyang. That's all...

I really wish I can do more cheerful report after fp.

his quad loop is just so textbook perfect
I'm still bit upset I should rewatch all of his previous programs lol

Prac: Hanyu 3A, 4T(hangs on), 4S3T, 4Lo
Practice: Yuzuru Hanyu runthru (marked Lo, 4S, marked F, 4S3T, 4T(fall), marked rest of jumps)

This is my hand held banner. Yesterday I managed to finished the gold sequins by the 2nd men group for Yuzu's SP (I was contemplating to go in watch the 2 groups but wanted to finish the gold for Yuzu). Today I added the red sequins on the rising sun.

I love all the Yuzu fans banner, fans in pooh costume, fans holding pooh, fans with Yuzu's buttons on their clothing, fans doing gifts exchange, the Pooh rain......you can feel all the love.

At the Edea booth the Yuzu postcard always run out. Yesterday, I saw a bunch of postcards on the table, asked the guy anymore Yuzu postcard, he said come back at 6pm .

Idk if this was posted already but an interview with Brian
Nothing new (he really likes boasting the fact that his students are a more complete package  ), but there's some footage of Yuzu skating to LGC at the TCC

Let me tell you about my Worlds experience: During the SD, during the 6 min warmup, the girl to my left was going through a tablet gallery full of Yuzu pictures. The lady to my right was looking at the shots of purple pants and Poohs on Twitter. Meanwhile, I was browsing through the Yuzu fanfest. Despite the fact that I'm a lone European sitting in what appears to be Japanese and Chinese sector, I feel kinda at home.

New articles which have nothing to do with evening practice:
Press told him that Plushenko announced retirement and he said “Really!?” with surprised look. People around Yuzu said that he had told them that he wanted to compete with Plushenko at Pyeongchang.

BIG EDIT: I panicked, just leaving the source

Nice pics haha

This pic had so much potential :o: :rofl2:

You can see half of that potential ;)
He looks so cute here :luv17: and i live for his high kick (it is a close second to the hydroblade!)

I wonder what he said to Nathan They are in the same boat now...

Is there any video of CBC interview? I haven't watched it yet.

Good night. :)

Hello everyone! Another newcomer here :o: Also rather new to actively following a figure skater lol I was going to post a rant yesterday, following up on the SP frustration - frustration at the scores for such an awesome performance, even with that little, but sadly costly mistake - but in the end, pictures from yesterday posted here made me feel better :)

Actually, mostly posting now, when most people seem to be asleep, to say ISU are broadcasting the men's free skate practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slQR6YA7eRk :cheer:

His practice run-through from the stream just now: https://youtu.be/slQR6YA7eRk

4Lo, 4S (marked), 3F (free leg low), 4S3T, 2T (or 1T), skipped jump, 4T-1/2Lo-3S (iffy landing on 4T and 3S), 3A

oh and he did the Biellman as well

For God's sake, he isn't going for 5 quads. He hasn't been jumping 4Lz, has he? And he won't give up one of his 3As.

what a nice warm family...

Good luck, Yuzu, you can fly to the sky! You're the best out there! Go for it - don't hold anything back!
Fingers, toes, braids - everything! - crossed for you.

Comments by Nobu :D Seems like news program had him on the phone. Starts 0:37

"I was really excited. It's been a long time since I've been this touched, to the extent that my hands were shaking. The thing is that if you don't get 100 in short and 200 in free, you can't pass the 300 mark...(but that's what yuzu did this time... :slink:) Tremendous scores like these seem like fiction from the other end of the universe, light years into the future! Compared to other quad jumpers, Hanyu-senshu's quads are airy, taking off lightly ("fuwa" = drifting, floating), landing lightly. Given his physical and technique, I think he can definitely jump 4.5 and 5 rotations."

More talk about jump quality!
Music to my ears, keep them coming!:luv17:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some more conversation from K&C and before medal ceremony in this program that I didn't hear from earlier programs:

6:38 Brian: "Wow... everything, everything! Perfection! Per-fect-ion!"

8:32 Yuzu: "Let's do the Lutz together?" Uno: "No." ... Uno: "We're not jumping, right?!?" Yuzu: "Not jumping~"

Oh my God please don't let him hear that yet :slink: He already said that he knows 5 rotations are humanly possible and i am worried about what he pretends to do with that information

ETA: I am just downloaded Notte Stellata without commentary, apparently it's been up for 4 hours but who knows if Fuji Tv's claws will get it :slink: Gonna upload it to my Gdrive in case anyone needs it. I'm also downloading a copy of H&L without commentary. (Yes, it will go straight into the Folder)
