I met a photographer from the championships yesterday in Helsinki and we ended up having coffee together and she was was actually unimpressed by Yuzu lol it was a major culture shock for me

You always read about people criticizing his posture or whatever but actually meeting one was quite fascinating to say the least

Well, Yuzuru may not be happy about another fierce competition with Shoma. Strategically thinking he needs to win over Shoma only at WTT. But at the same time I’m pretty sure he is eager to perform his upgraded LGС at the same cosmic level as H&L. That small SP mistake makes his teeth itch so it needs to be healed with an immaculate performance.

Out of all reasons to dislike his skate, whoever mentions "a lack of masculinity" will receive an instant eyeroll from me. cancelled.
As a biased Yuzu worshipper like me, I secretly think that anyone who cannot appreciate his skate (i mean THAT WR-breaking skate in particular) has terrible taste! Rebuttals not accepted

This time I saw Yuzuru wearing very, very dark blue costume almost black , it was Olympics and he skated clean LP to violin music, this time was last to skate in final group ..he was pretty angry about himself , I was sitting there, looked up at the boards and saw that he won Olympics by 4.29 pts but he was cursing that he could do the spin in SP better...
( hoping I will get good rest this off season, I feel I need it)

edit: if I am not mistaken another guy who medaled was Boyang, I don't remember if it was silver or bronze.

Well she didn't say he wasn't masculine enough but that his shoulders looked slouchy which probably means the same?

The best part was her saying she likes Shoma more because (and this was when I knew I couldn't talk about skating with her) he "combines artistry with difficult technique"

I've always thought that "masculinity" refers to a man's heart, mind and soul. Looks like some people take it...um... literally?

I was referring to the criticisms I generally see on the internet--there will always be complains that his skate is "too feminine"/"not manly".
It irks me to the max because the way they see gender and beauty is so narrow. Artistry is not confined to one form, and should never be restricted by gender.

Yuzu's technique is ten times better than Shoma's (sorry baby Shoma, I like you very much, but that's the holly true), nobody has the soft and featherlike landings like Yuzu has ... and about artistry ... come on, really??

She was there for everything!! She saw it all from the side of the rink. Which makes it all the more mind-boggling...

Very true. But I guess in figure skating there's still alot of problems in that regard both concerning ladies and mens skating.

It reminds me of my mum at the GPF this year. I basically dragged my whole family there and my parents who didn't know anything about figure skating actually enjoyed the whole thing quite a lot, to the point where my mum got really too invested when it came up to whether she agreed with the results or not. We were only there for the last day of competition so we only witnessed the FS. My mum was enthralled by both Nathan and Shoma (who did really great, it was pretty epic) but then was left completely unimpressed by Yuzu (to be fair it wasn't the best performance to discover him with ). So at the end she simply couldn't understand why he had won (although I explained 10 times to her that he had been magnificent in the SP). She thought he was also too feminine and that Javi had actually stolen her heart because he was a very handsome and manly man (to be fair once again, Javi is soooo charming in real life, way better than on TV). Anyway, she decided not to stand up for the national anthem when Yuzu got on the podium and did not applause just to show she was protesting against the results (I was sooo embarasssed). And then she did the same with Evgenia whom she didn't like: she thought Satako should have won (and yes Satako just looked like an airy little pixie full of grace that day). So yes, I know what it is to know people who are left completely unimpressed by Yuzu, but well I don't really care: my mum actually gives me a good laugh ^^
