Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Well probably Yuzuru is already a grandfather in skating at age 22. He needs one whole season to perfect the 4Lo.
Shoma the teenager at age 19 takes only quarter of a season.
Don't talk about the pre-rotation technique before my eyes or else it will be nasty in this thread. In all my life watching figure skating, if there is anything I want to punish, it's the pre-rotation.

Of course it is easier to land your jumps when you pre-rotate almost whole first rotation on ice.

And I do not come to other thread to argue about THAT kind of technique so PLEASE spare me from the talk about it.

PS: You don't want me to become nasty because I can do slow motion of all their jumps and put those Gifs on youtube, tumblr, twitter and everywhere. And by that time, their fans will not be pleased either. So don't talk about that kind of jumps in here AT ALL.

I think due to the mechanics of the 4Lz, if he failed it he would either : 1. popped it 2. fully rotate it and fall on his butt.

You're right. 3Lz incoming. Hey, if he pops it, he can still get over 100 in the SP! He's done it before with 1 quad only!

I guess the next step may be 4S3T in 2nd half of SP but I don't think it's worth trying this.
FP is key. I think he may try two quads loops in free as next step

That is if he pops it into a triple, if he pops it into a double he will get 0 points :hopelessness: BV-wise it is better to fully rotate it and fall on his butt
For my own sanity I would prefer for him to stick with his old layout (with maybe pushing a jump to the second half at best), otherwise I would be so stressed about having 2 new jumps in the SP (4Lz and 4Lo3T, or even if he does 4S3T I would just be as stressed for it :p)
But looking at how he popped his 4T, he would likely pop 4Lz into a 3Lz, not a double. 4Lo is an edge jump so wrong takeoff and/or not enough height might result to that scary knee landing.

Wow.
Sorry, has Shoma had a better consistency with jumps than Yuzu this season ? Is his 4Lo really "perfect" ?
And even if Shoma's 4Lo was perfect, is it really a stable jump for him already ? Last time I checked, he was talking about approximately 50% success rate in training, and he landed 2 in competition this season, while Yuzuru landed many more.
Shoma had everything to gain by taking risks this season - for Yuzuru you can question it, he had much more to lose
And Shoma didn't begin his training late this year, and was not injured.

Really, I love Shoma, I really do. But not his jumps.

And trolling on Yuzuru in his fanfest... Really ? :hslap:

Yikes! :slink: (runs away from Meioma's avalanche of social media)

I'm really sorry but the first thing that comes to mind when I see this is. Shoma's "4"lo :laugh2:

Wow, what a performance! :shocked::yahoo::points:
But I do not understand why he has -1, because he has no falls in the programme. Could you , please, tell me? Thank you! :)

Better at SC then at Olympics. I'm ready to survive another SC if we are to get finally as beautiful 4Lz as 4lo already is.

He broke world records after getting SC silver anyway so go Yuzu! Get that 4th SC silver :hap10:

He started his program late by 3 seconds

I don't want to be a nasty person. But I can't stand bad technique, so just don't talk about it here.

One reason why I follow Yuzuru is because he has great technique. I value good technique and I could not tolerant any kind of weaker technique to be celebrated and considered great. It is ridiculous in my opinion. And I am not even sorry.

I think that Brian's initial plan was to add the 4Lo later this season, when the success rate in training would have been higher, because at the beginning of the season he felt that Yuzu'performances suffered from the 4Lo and that Yuzu spent too much time working on the 4Lo. But Yuzu insisted on adding it right from the beginning to gather more experience about it in competition and "do the mistakes now", and Brian understood. (ie Yuzu took the grand prix series as a training and knew perfectly well that his performance would suffer from it, and accepted it, because he knew that in the long term it was the best approach - which was pretty brave and clever).
So in any case Yuzu would have had the 4Lo at worlds, I think. Especially with Shoma and Nathan adding new quads in their programs every month or almost ;)

But yes Yuzu was totally right to insist, because he indeed gathered a lot of experience with the 4Lo and it is now a very reliable jump for him (and how beautiful ! :luv17:)

That's what I love about Yuzu -- as much as he hates failure, he is never afraid of it.

EX was also the seat at the seal gallery. I really thought I should have taken a nice seat… I felt something dark inside me like agony was purified. I thought I could believe something good, something beautiful in this world and thought I would never get angry. lol. This is yuzu’s power.

Yes, this was something different. Is it art? Is it religion? Certainly it is more than sport.

The gala started off slow but there were some good numbers. Carolina also demonstrated supreme artistry and command through her gestures. But throughout everyone clapped and cheered enthusiastically without standing. After Yuzu skated, it started like that. And I thought, no way, this has to be stood for, and I sprung up and shouted Bravo! repeatedly. My sister and I were the first ones in our immediate section to rise, but then I felt people standing up around me, and saw them doing it across the arena.

I don't think he will change his layout for the Olympic season, at maximum change the place of a triple of anything similar. As far as i'm concerned he didn't change it much for Sochi compared to 2012-2013. I need to check it but please spare me from watching NDP, thanks. The biggest reason for him to include 4Lo this season, as someone said, was to gain mileage with it and have a layout for the Olympics which he's confident with.

LMFAO Somehow people are so sensitive to pre rotation, or any issue related to rotation though, I'm having Mao UR flashbacks  The backlash feels like it's one of IJS 7 sins

:agree: Where is it that Kurt analyzed Shoma's technique? I think it is a big deal that he mentioned it.

The point now is he should add 4lz as soon as possible. But I am not sure it will be at WTT. It is also a political game there.

Not enough time, I don't think he will. He still has SP grudge anyway. If he adds it I expect we will only see it by CS

yuzu is in the middle, not the oldest not the youngest, always out of the box, and he is no grandfather for sure

He should add 4lz and stablize it soon. Actually from the latest interview it seems that he will upgrade his layout next season.

When 3.2 rotation on air is called 4 rotations and get the same credit, it is a joke but I guess some people are just too biased to think it is wrong.
