Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Lol nope. I think he genuinely and sincerely believe a clean Yuzuru would still win and a clean Javi would still medal at OG no matter what. It is not just public face, imo. Again, both of them were not "clean" here, so he expected more score when they are actually clean, foot-perfect back-to-back. He seems to believe it is more important to be consistent and clean rather than do all the quads in the oly season and splat all over.

From Brian's beliefs to the skate god's ears. Yuzu deserves some Olympic redemption. I wonder how he will approach those games. Will he have 2014 on his mind or be living in the now? It's exciting and nervewracking all at the same time.

If my memory does not fail me, I think I had seen last season that, though Javier's upgrade in his BV put him closer to Yuzu's, Yuzuru still held the higher BV. Makes sense if we consider Yuzuru had all his combinations in the 2nd half while Javi had only one. And he (Javier) did not make any changes in the layout from last season to this one. I don't have my computer with me to check accurately, but I'm fairly certain

It's just his method, alright. He was like that with Yuna too. He does not force her to do 3A or even a mere 3Lo just because it affected her consistency (and injury too), and it paid off for Yuna, she was clean at OG and won. He seems to emphasize that it is more important to do layout you are comfortable+consistent with, with good GOE. But I don't think Yuzuru can live with it lol. Personally, I also think that his belief is not really suitable in today's field, but well to each of their own.

I hope he can skate clean or at least well at OG. About his placement, he can't control that (the judging, the politics and the whole-she-bangs) and it is up to skating Gods (lol), but he can control his own skate and performance at the very least, and I hope he has a satisfying and fulfilling skate. I don't think he has anything left to prove, no matter the result.

You are right they are about 0.3-0.4 pts different I think. Yuzuru was 95.7, javi was less than that.

Adding a 4Lz, even with just a 4-quad layout, will do WONDERS to Yuzuru's BV though.

Brian was against 4lo at first. And Javi would have won with two clean skates, 3 quads and no 4lo. And taking into consideration SP results. But next season will be different and having 3 quads probably will not be enough to medal.

Well at the very least I do think Brian's mindset has shifted as he did admit that Yuzu was right. I think if Javi is clean with 5 total quads (SP and FS) he still has a chance for a medal, but it will depend on how well the rest of the field does. He is putting himself at their mercy, but how likely is it that we'll have a clean competition. He'll want redemption himself, but I guess with that comes the pressure since he wants a medal and doesn't have anything yet.

Delfa gave Yuzu 94.5 PSC and Javi 96.50, how funny is that?
Lukasik awareded Yuzu's most complex program with 93.5 and Shoma's tango on cross-overs with 95.

I'm going through some stuff I had recorded at Worlds... not sure this has been mentioned before, but the announcer lady at practices has added another name to the list Yuzuru Hanyui (with an emphasis on the u of all things). I don't care what anybody says, this is a Finnish thing you put an i at the end of any word and voila: Finnish

You know, I'm amazed mr. Delfa was so kind to ratify Yuzu's first 4Lo Actually when I knew he would be in the techpanel of AC I awaited the worst.

At worlds last year he was his team (photo here, with Yuzu too haha) iirc. But well, national bias is something that has been around for decades so... I meant if JPN judge was on the list he would hold down others' scores and push Yuzu and Shoma too. It is common practice (not saying that it is right but it's just how it has been since forever)
I think it was also just bad luck that the judges' draw was not in his favor. But look at the bright side, even with politics not on his side, he still win with THAT kind of skate. At the end of the day I would like to think the judges still have it in their heart to crown the winning skate and deserving skater. He remained 1st in the FS for all judges anyway, though some of them hold him down. :luv17:

Me thinks maybe we should tag all those people at SNS that people actually are not blind and if ISU does not show nationalities, somehow we can google their names and find ))I know Chinese fans wrote everything they thought to USA judge and another one ( don't remember nationality) after Skate Canada... maybe there is the way to let them know that people actually read and know those bullets and handbooks?

Oh I would never forget the President of Skate Canada and President of USFSA JUDGING and doing their own shenanigans It was on Yuzu's competition too. I have the list of judges who were unfavorable towards Yuzu on my book or death note maybe
It is just that it happens every competition and I am actually already semi-numb to it. At the end of the day, if it did not affect the placement, I would be fine with it eventually (though I still rant beforehand either way)

ETA : My fave person is still miss angelique clyde-smith (AUS) who gave Yuzu PCS 7 and 8 on ACI so this SPN and CAN judge is actually still fine overall
