I happened upon both in a SALE bin at a local toy-store. It never occurred to me that it's "special feature" would work out so well. They're Ty Disney Beanie Ballz (no sound), with a heavy underside. The tag says "Roll me, throw me, catch me. I always land on my feet."

Fun fact: my Pooh ball looks exactly the same as Winnie's, but instead of being an always-lands-on-his-butt bear, it's an always-lands-flat-on-his-face bear (which probably has something to do with the heavy button in his belly that makes him giggle when you press it )

after thorough scrutiny on PPOS, there's nothing under around his hip bone and butt-cheek areas. so now I'm sure he wears thong-type underwear or nothing at all.

I can't find any visible evidence in my collection but i think the place you should be looking at is his upper thigh. There is a very visible underwear outline in some of the UA photos he definitely wears something (or else we would see another outline...)
