Nothing to lose.. He had the title already.. So it's perfect time to throw that 4Lz or 4A :dev3: hahah joke I think yuzu wouldn't take the risk, I bet he would do original layout and if he had enough energy he'll attempt the 5 quad.. Obviously :agree2:
I expect the original layout for tomorrow. Tbh I will keep my expectations low, not because of SP results, just Worlds-style comebacks doesn't happen everytime. But I will be extremely happy to be proven wrong.

That I believe is a Kagome crest, an old Shinto thing, not the Star of David.

Yes, I knew it's not the star of David. But what's the meaning of it when they write it on board? Protection? Luck? I was just curious if it has the same meaning as the star of David.

Edit: I'll try to google it. Thank you for your help

If I remember correctly, when I looked into that ages ago some thought it came from India, and is basically a shatkona (Shiva and Shakti, union of male and female, fire and water) but then there were others where they suggested China, or something purely Japanese. Maybe you'll have better luck!

ETA oops sorry for the OT guys.

LOL I agree - perfect time to test out that 4 Lz (haha maybe save 4A for after Olympics ... don't wanna risk injury!!!)

Not underestimating him, but I worry that his stamina (based on his past performances) may not be strong enough for 5 quads...? Of course if he does do 5 quads then it'll be one heck of a surprise!.

I think he said he doesn't have enough energy in K&C at World's.. So I'm expecting him to do 5 quad if he has energy.. Let's see what happen tomorrow

Perhaps it will be difficult to breaks H&L's WR but a clean H&L will make redemption.. I will approve anything as long as yuzu happy face is comeback tomorrow.. (Please God, a clean H&L one more time )

And actually, I had a little cringe moment at Shoma's post skate comment, though I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Namely he said something like: "I'll try my hard not to cause trouble [for the team]." Which is very normal Japanese humble attitude, but when your team mate and biggest rival just had a program like that, that also resulted in the team losing quite a few points - I think normally, they were guaranteed 1st and 2nd, in whichever order - it's a bit... unfortunate.

Could anyone find the video where Shoma said that? And didn't he skate before Yuzu and how come his post-skate comments have anything to do with Yuzu?

This is the post-skate interview (video and translation) I found in Shoma's thread: https://twitter.com/ways_her/status/855029489499226122
"Shoma said that he didn't do well with 3T in practice today and decided to do 2T lest he flop the whole jump or even the whole combo. So he went for the safer version, especially considering that his score would affect the team's placement. "

He did say something to Matsuoka-san in the Japan team interview several days ago - that he didn't want to be a weight for the team and that kind of thing... "Not to bother other people" is just a Japanese culture and a common phrase to say in Japan when it concerns a team. Source: https://t.co/avpXpKNZl0

I don't think he'll try 5 quads. He probably wants to get as many points as possible for Japan so it's not really time for risks.

Let's focus on the positive things and appreciate the knee slide. I (innocently) gifed it earlier. The timing was a little off but it was especially low today! And I love the head flick he added out of it. :luv17:

Nah don't be sorry, this kagome discussion is very interesting! :)

Do share when you find out about it, cuz I wanna know about this too! :)

Because I brought it up... It's in that video, at the end, when they ask him about tomorrow, he says 「迷惑をかけないように・・・」. I'll leave it to someone better at Japanese to translate the rest, as I don't have the confidence for it. I've caused enough trouble of my own :palmf:

And I really am sorry, maybe I should go back and delete that part, so it'd die out... I only meant I cringed at the bad timing of the comment, and tried to explain it is a common thing to say and I don't think he meant anything by it. It's just one of those things that happen. IMO

Oh also, as I understand, the post skate interviews all happened after the end of the event, since after his skate, Shoma remained in K&C with everyone else.

ETA: Edited the original post, but I can't edit everything else, as it's rude to other posters. I hope it's ok :(

Yes please! H&L is my fave program of Yuzu (even though I love many of his programs ... Seimei, Romeo and Juliet, etc.) and I would LOVE to see its perfect awesomeness once more!!!

The overall perfomance wasn't bad at all. I can't imagine the magnitude of his frustration after failed jumps, but he hasn't given up till the end. And his best friend 3A is always there to help.[emoji1]

I agree. I think 5 quads is a bit too risky. He broke a WR with 4 quads so as long as his FS is clean tomorrow then it'll be OK :)

Yep his awesome 3A + that high kick was beautiful

He has one of the best 3A in his generation so it's always a pleasure to watch :)

And of course I stare at his hair. Not bad, not bad at all...

H&L also my favorite for now! It was the most beautiful free skate I've ever seen.. Seimei was strong program that you feel he looks like a samurai. And R&J 1 is my favorite all the time. He was so young, passionate in that performance. Even with the simple jumps compare to seimei or H&L, it just still phenomenal..

His axel was smooth as always today :)
