I love Boyang too, he's such a fun guy and I love how he's been improving his artistry and expression! The Spiderman program is a treat! :love:

As much as I love Boyang, I don't think it would work to have 3 medalist contenders training in the same place ... Javi, Yuzu, and Boyang at the same time? I suspect the coaches would pull all their hair out from stress! (Not because Javi, Yuzu, and Boyang are difficult, but because of the high level of individual training that each of these guys would need! It's a real challenge!)

EDIT: time schedule for Men FS today. Yuzu will skate last in the group 1. I think I will try to watch it live (if my connection wasn't died like last time SP :palmf:)

Thanks for posting this schedule! I was just wondering what time his FS would be! I try to see if I can catch the livestream! No matter what happens we all will support our beloved Yuzu!

To leave this post on a positive note though - I did after his SP what I always do when I'm sad. I watched Believe. If that doesn't make you think the world is a great place and miracles are possible and you can basically buy happiness in a sparkly orange jar, I don't know what will :luv17:

I don't usually watch skating programs outside of competitions, but this is one performance that will probably change my mind :luv17:

a lot of yuzu's performances outside competitions are awesome cuz you get to see him be more at ease with his skating and the fun energy is great! :love:
 
I'm home and watched his skate on NBCSN. They were not too hard on him honestly and pointed out how hard it is to keep up that high level of competition for another few weeks after the biggest competition (Worlds). They were encouraging, noting his comeback from 5th to 1st to win it all at Worlds and were optimistic that he'd skate a better free. I have no expectations, he gave me all I could ever dream from him right before my very eyes.:agree2:
 
Finally I could watch TV Asahi version of his SP while taking lunch. It didn’t change my impression. He did look a bit pale and bit scary while he was waiting to start 6 min. warm up but so was everybody, including coaches and organizing staffs. Yoyogi Daiich is such venue. It’s probably the oldest building to hold figure skating event in Japan since it was built more than 50 years ago. It always is a little bit dark inside. And his performance minus two mistakes in jumps was just superb. I think he just needs to take as much rest as he needs and trust himself. Having made some mistake here is not the end of the world for him or for his fans. I think Prince would laugh if he heard that Yuzu was so sorry for him because reminding people of him itself is the best tribute.
Wish him good luck on FS today, regardless whether it will be perfect or not, wish he will be able to enjoy his program and be proud of how he fought through this season.
 
It seems he looked super pissed at OP in the morning and had quite messy practice popped sals and some weak landings and he said it was shame for him. Come on boy! It is not even real competition....

I guess I like(?) the feeling of tension watching competitions, and feel like skaters only bring their A-game during competitions.
But now I'm starting to realize there are other aspects to their skating that they can only really showcase better at galas and exhibitions.

Very thankful to people here who share great recommended videos of their favorite show/EX performances. Will try to watch more and more of them from now on.

i love watching competitions too! love it!

but at the same time the gala/exhibitions/shows give a different sort of energy and more focused on performing than competing, so it's another thing to enjoy (more skating to watch, yay!)

You have to see this as a chance to learn how to manage situations like this.
Please, please, pretty please.
 
I had this friend in college who had a technique for managing the stress of exams. A crazy one. She would steal plates from the dining hall and we would throw them against a brick wall, shattering them into pieces. Now that was cathartic. Probably not such great advice, but the point is, don't get mad at yourself, get mad at the plate.

Actually, maybe the more everyone tells him to just enjoy it, the worse it is... Since he obviously can't. It was obvious he was still obsessing over LGC after Worlds... And now he might be stuck in a bad place... I almost wish he would have pulled out, gone home, have a good cry, rest, then get pumped up as he goes back to training in Toronto. I also hope for no ice shows... I'm not sure he'd be able to enjoy them in his current mood and he's better off working for next season... *sighs*

For today it seems there are two main possibilities: either he'll manage to use all the negativity as fuel and perform like never before, either he'll crash and burn again. I hope it's the first, because he needs to end this season with something like that, but maybe the second could become a good learning experience.

It's goig to be a nerveracking day, though, for sure...

Interestingly, Yuzu is the only skater whose exhibitions I enjoy and rewatch. As much as I loved Yuna, I never really got into her exhibitions because I felt like they were like watered down programs. With Yuzu, his exhibitions really bring something different that he can't express in competition, so it's like a totally different dimension of skating. Not to mention he hardly waters down the tech and does triple axels and quads :shocked: and since he's doing fewer jumps, you see the improvement in his spins, positions, etc. Requiem is one of my favorite programs even though it breaks my heart every time I see it.
