are they changing the rules?

Yes. One less jumping pass, 30 seconds shorter FS, GOEs should be from -5 to +5. Possibly more changes as there were a couple of mentions of adjusting the PCS ceiling as well.

Question for tomorrow: Will the 3A make an appearance at the EX again this season? Well, a properly landed one, at least? Inquiring minds need to know. Yuzu, you've only ever gotten the 3A-Twizzles once in the entire season, how dare u!

I think it'll be interesting to see what the new scoring and the shorter FS will bring to the men's discipline, post-Olympics. And how Yuzu will fit into it.

That statement is the most firm sounding one yet. For months snippets of things he said in press conferences regarding jumps made it sound like there were things he wanted to try in the future, but that could have meant anything. Here, actually addressing the issue, well, I love that he sounds so excited about trying new things!!!

And you know he will want to try the new system out!! Worlds in Japan 2019, possibly in Canada 2020... I will wish hard that he wants to continue... even on the unlucky Canadian soil!!

i have a confession to make: i actually wanna see yuzu at beijing winter olympics... i know it's a stretch but still...

i mean swimming legend michael phelps made it to 4 olympic games so it's not too much of a stretch to hope for skating legend (he is a legend in my eyes, ok? ) yuzu going to 3 olympic games...?

lol i wanna see him land that beautiful 3A-twizzle combo too but even if he doesn't, he always manages to make interesting saves (which are awesome in themselves haha)...

i love how he manages to right himself in the air even if he's off balanced ... he's like a cat

He's young enough now to be able to, he'd just be P.Chan and Javi's age now... Depends if he thinks it'd be fun to just see if he could get onto the podium, if he avoids injury for 4 years (he could take a season off but he's been looking after his body well thos season...) and if he...wants to...
I dunno if I see him going for a 3rd one because the stress, but I want him to skate for as long as he can... I can imagine him sticking around a season or two after olymoics but longer would be great :luv17:

I want that too very much He will be 27 then so it's not unreasonable. Dai was that age at Sochi and Patick and Javi will be about that age in Pyeongchang. As to whether he'll be able to keep winning then as much as he does now, I don't think it's unreasonable either if he's careful and stays healthy. Kohei Uchimura at 27 defended his all-around gymnastics gold medal at Rio against a much younger field and gymnastics takes at least just as much a toll on the body as figure skating. Noriaki Kasai too who won silver and bronze medals at his 7th (!) Olympic games. Yuzu has met these athletes and is very aware of their achievements so hopefully it will inspire him to continue as well (if he wants to!).

So glad to see that I'm not the only one!

I hope Yuzu takes good care of his body and that he can skate as long as possible

I would love to see him keep skating even beyond 2018 Olympics and possible even go to 2022 Olympics! I hope he stays happy and healthy and inspired to continue as long as possible :luv17:

I wonder, does maybe being a technical skating coach something that might appeal to him in the future?

I guess if he does take up coaching as a career, that will still be far off into the future.
In the meantime, he can definitely explore a lot of options.

But okay, I'm gonna stop talking about Yuzu and r* now... I get sad just thinking about it.
