I'm tying to learn hanja now hahaha I'm being ambitious and learning korean for everyday life (I'm...intermediate but bad at speaking), I was interested in Chinese (I can write/read very basic sentences) but idk if it'll be useful for me anymore and now I want to know at least some Japanese (level 0 total beginner lmao) for Yuzu hahaha but sometimes i'll see a character and either remember the meaning but not to pronunciation, remember the korean only or the chinese only luckily there is some overlap haha but I'm really bad with vocabulary in general...I'll store all the grammar but forget words So maybe if I study hanja more I'll remember more vocabulary

lol I wrote hanji. See I already get confused with the names.
I couldn't memorize vocabulary for the life of me back in the day. 90% of my Korean vocabulary is words I picked up. That's why I fear kanji so much... and the fact that there are several readings...
The problem with learning hanja is that it's not used frequently, I feel. I only remember frequently used ones like king or day/month/year.
But I'm going to give kanji a try. Although my semester just started and I have 0 time.

What he needs for olympic season is two amazing complete programs. Judges loved Chopin and Seimei, they liked LGC but I think they not liked H&L too much. If he will put two pieces like Chopin with 2 in SP and 4 quads in long judges will reward him, and he needs consistent skates before olympics. Adding 4lz could easily ruin him before Oly.
He don't need that 4lz for Olys
And I think that's what he wants to do when he said about 2nd half quads quality, they feel easy now, and now he wants to add a lot more choreo between this elements

Q. About this season,

Thinking back this season, I had the two months period when I could do nothing. But finally at the free program of this competition I was able to get the performance which I had been aiming for. As an achievement of this competition, I tried the very difficult thing, and I was able to do what I wanted to here. It was a success before Olympics.

Q.About the layout of next season

I have no plan to make a drastic change. Still I can’t get two clean programs both with SP and FP. While I must get more quads or add something creative to combo, aside them, I would love to focus on GOE and the perfection of program, what’s more, expressing the program which I want to. This season I had done some challenges. I want to improve myself more with them.

Q. In your skating life, how will the next season be?

I’d always thought that next season will be a compilation (crystallization) of my skating life, although it may be the same as the (previous) Sochi Olympics season. I’d thought I would say that, but after having contemplated, I found that every competition was occupied with my hard works, my experiences and practices. In another words, this competition is also the compilation (of my skating life), I think. That’s why my mind isn’t changed (*note: this sentence doesn’t make sense in the context, but I translated it literally. This transcript is not the exact dictation of his interview, so there may be something inconsistent). All I have to do is be careful about practices and body and health control, execute the skate which he think is ideal, and again move forward step by step towards competitions.

Q. what is the reason why you changed your mind although you’d tried to say (Worlds would be) a “compilation”?

It feels because of Worlds (2017). I’d thought that Worlds would be the compilation of this season of mine. As a result, I only got 5th at SP… After SP until FP, I was looking back various things to find that no competition so far had been what I thought a passing point (towards a compilation). Taking it into consideration, in this competition, I was able to deliver my skate as a compilation, reflecting what I was capable of at that time, my practices so far, such various things.

Q. Before, you said you wanted to turn a professional skater while you could get the best performance. Now the level of competitions is getting higher so much and dramatic. How’s the change of your mind?

This time it was just tough, I felt (lol). This was different from Worlds. Time time was like “Why did my works so far pay off?”. All skaters are doing the difficult things, besides doing that, we must make a complete program in itself and the necessary level is very high. That’s why I enjoy practices very much and my motivation is getting bigger. Now I’m enjoying skate regardless of retirement or something.

Q.About triple axel and quad.

About quad, when I broke the record of SP, the focal points were the high GOE of 4T and the perfection of 3A. Considering them, 4T has helped me a lot so far. Thus it is important to get GOE with 4t and excuse a clean 4t. This time the second 4T at the latter half was a bit hard, but the first had about the same quality as the first (in the first half) and I got a response of GOE of from 2 to 3 with it although the entry was not so complicated.
In that sense, I doesn’t feel the necessity to focus on 3A only.

However, my enthusiasm with axel is the one beyond your imagination provably. More than else, the reason why I came to love skate to such an extent is thanks to axel. Without axel, I may not have won at National Novice and not have been able to skate with a confidence like this. That’s why I have the feelings that I don’t want to exclude axel. (note: In another source, he said he wanted to get 4A at the same interview.)

Q. It seems something new came up at FS of 4cc.

I couldn’t imagine I could (actually) get 2 quads in a latter half although it had been the layout. The confidence which I got (at FS of 4cc) has helped me with adding more alternative and easing my mindset and the way of practices and the feelings with the 4t in a latter half.

Q. How about Uno?

Just dependable and promising. We really are good friends, and attended competition together both in novice and junior. What’s more, I’m one of the persons who know he is a hard worker and find it delightful that his hard works have paid off. Further, I want to learn the jumps he gets, the one of the kind expression of him, how to move his eyes or his bodies and so on, and develop my merits.


Q. Are you aiming for more difficult layout in the future, or you will make a realistic choice to win?

I had a thought about it also before FP at Worlds. I myself had started 4lo and needed more difficult layout. That’s why I had decided this current layout after the discussion with Brian. However considering the past, I was not a type of skater who got difficult jumps, but the one who achieved a program, getting the stable and clean jumps and the expressions together. True I practiced 4ltz today, but now I feel that it’s better to add what I want to express or jumps which I can get comfortably, not trying hard with such as 4ltz.

Of course, I love what’s difficult, and I know the risk of injury with it. However, the reason why I got to love skate is skate is the extraordinary and there’s something which I can experience with skate only and one of the factors is a jump. The difficulty and the sense of achievement with jumps had attracted me gradually. Thus doing the practice of 4ltz or 4f is fun!

The gala was so fun to watch! Yuzuru's instant change from a beautiful swan to a total rockstar was amazing and it's such a nice way to end the season seeing him enjoy himself so much. Yuzu was truly the star of show at the WTT gala today, wow! :luv17:

i love how he talks about being good friends with shoma and how there are things he can learn from shoma. i love seeing these 2 interacting together and i think it's great that they are friends...

It's normal and it will pass. Belive me it was worse last year after Boston and he was so injured. It's much better now.

It is only normal for some people. Some of us just don't do depression. I like my life far too much to let stuff like that get to me. Even after the SP at Worlds I stayed very optimistic.
I'm actually kind of happy there is an off season now. I actually have a couple of dozen hobbies and it's about time I caught up with all the others for a few months (and only a few months, because I avidly follow Juniors, too).
