Uhm, Now it seems in new Number issue Kozuka is saying almost same , adding that Yuzu needs more practice on his crossroll ...Now it is becoming too amusing , gotta love them
 oh dear Kozuka, I do not feel regretful now that I was in hospital when you visisted my ice rink :laugh2:

Nagoya has truly displaced the army to the direction of Eastern Japan no ?

Hater's gonna hate. Yuzu's gonna skate (and maybe break a record or two in the process, unlike what his detractors can do ;)). He'll always be Japan's first Olympic Champ. That's a sting that will remain for any of his detractors. Remember in his interview earlier in the season he said he knows he gets a lot of love, but that he also gets some hate. He is handling all of that like the champion that he is.

Now this one I could see myself using. I'm too 'old' (in fandom proper age) to have pictures of guys I am a fan of in my phone (to be honest, I've never been one for that since my teen years of posters in my bedroom) but this one is artistic enough to not be considered too fandom-y and fits my aesthetics. Imma steal it for future use. Thank you!

That one is nice, but I'd definitely have to rearrange my apps or the pretty silhouette will be covered up! I also was never one for posters. I was into Backstreet Boys back in the day and even then I couldn't really do the poster thing, while my best friends had so many posters it was like wallpaper. I DID do book covers though. Like the Got Milk ones.

It's like Deja Vu....

Well it's the Olympic season- when politicking comes out in full force. Though it makes me sad that former skater/teammates are participating in this game....

But this is something many of us already knew. Yuzuru will always be the outlander who bares the brute of it. :disapp:

;) Nagoya group is making me laugh, seriously, why didn't they spend time to fix their candidate's technique in the first place, so that they don't have to live on tech specialists' mercy?

Now they're spending time and money to downplay the best skater with the best technique in the world.

On the other hand, Yuzuru has always spent time to talk good about his rivals DESPITE the fact that deep inside he hell knows how cheated some technique are. :laugh2:

Don't forget about Oda! He always praises Yuzu's jump technique so much!!! He also pointed out just bc Yuzu made it looked easy, it didn't mean what Yuzu did was easy, in fact what he did was the most difficult thing ever that it was actually ridiculous!!! He also the one of very few commentators who pointed out how difficult and beautiful Yuzu's 3F was in the FS!

And didn't he say he almost cried during his FS at Worlds?

Do they, like, comment on any other improvements other skaters need to work on or is it just Yuzu who is lacking in emotion, technique, crossrolls, insert something here....?

No be honest no, It is Yuzuru who is judged by all the standards. Others are maybe just too perfect to be true

He certainly wouldn't have been alone. Some of my favorite commentary:

Terry Gannon: Every time you think he can't do any better, he proves you wrong.
Tara Lipinski: An Olympic Champ skating like a true Olympic Champ. That was incredible. He has it all. He has the technical difficulty. The style of his skating is so unique and beautiful. Excellent Skating skills. Ugh!
Johnny Weir: He's so well rounded in so many ways. The jumps are beautiful. The technique, especially in this free program, he was so solid with his back, through his core. So strong. But what really sets him apart artistically is that he can do everything, from this beautiful melodic piano piece to making Prince work to making metal work. That's how he stays ahead of the rest.
Terry Gannon: Did you see the people in the front rows of the audience? People were actually crying at the end of that performance.
Tara Lipinski: Terry, he's just that good!
Johnny Weir: He's so popular in Japan, many people have flown from Japan to see him. But his emotion sells everything.

And this is from people that have their own horse in the race now.

Why NO ONE from JSF ever said something like Mr. Shoma Uno's toe jumps are not standard?

Those cheated take-offs have gained Mr. Shoma Uno ALOT of points and blatantly robbed Mr. Boyang Jin many times.

And the great Mr. Kozuka Takahiko HAD to mention that Mr. Hanyu's crossroll is not standard.

Anyone give me some base value for crossroll? No. This move gets no point at all in the whole system.

They are just trying to paint Mr. Hanyu as the "weaker old skater" and make Mr. Shoma Uno with all his questionable technique the better younger one.

How disappointing is that, Japanese old veterans are nothing more than playing political games now.

Now that you mention it, there's this part I didnt translate because I felt it was a little redundant but Javi reiterated, "he's a very consistent/constant skater, that's the #1 thing i always praise him for". Which is true, since I watched many other interviews/TV appearences and although they weren't long enough to translate, whenever they asked Javi briefly about Yuzu, the first thing he mentions is his consistency.

For more drama (and of course I like that kid so much :sad21:) and amusement I'd love to see Sota rising again and becoming strong contender

I miss Sota too :( :otopic: Yuzu's number 1 and eternal fanboy.

Yeah, my point was more that it would be news to me that this thread doesn't in fact have the ability to go ballistic over.... well pretty much everything I guess  the fuse on this place is about as long as a toothpick

Ballistic Hanyu fans  With a fandom as big as ours I think everything is just magnified; unless there's only 9 of us.

Anyway, is the marriage thing still ongoing. I think I found what I want to be married to. :luv17:
I want to be married to Yuzu's heartshaped hairline and forehead

That's what I loved about LGC this whole season, a once-in-a-blue-moon view of Yuzu's forehead! Nevermind this one:laugh2:

Well, after reading all this posts and disscusions about political fights between skating centres and denigrations tactics (so low to do this to your best ever skater) :disapp: I myself thank God again that Yuzu is training in Canada, where is protected from the jmed, and not in Japan to hear and be afected by all that nonsensical cheap talk.

As if there's no enough politicking at international scene, country is even divided, what a mess. Sport shouldn't be like that but figure skating is so complex that it is easy to allow that *sigh*. I actually understand a bit what Akiko meant because I felt sometimes that Yuzu focused more on technical side and being clean which is understandable (and I don't think that he let it shows more than any other skater and this is the part that politicking is clear, I guess) but it's not like H&L is really emotional program itself, like you guys mentioned, it is calm and serene but Yuzuru is just magic so anything he does on ice is special, and I'm not even biased saying that lol. Plus, Chopin/ Seimei from last season set such a highhhh standard for Yuzuru and people obviously can use that (I personally enjoy H&L more).

Release the river!!! (Lotr reference)

:laugh2: :laugh2:

Since he is repeating plus adding the crossroll nonsense I give him - SS 2.0 TR 2.0 PE 3.0 1.0 CO 1.0 IN 3.0

Well the media seems to want to play Shoma & Yuzuru against each other. I would like to give former skaters the benefit of the doubt that perhaps the media asked very pointed specific questions that they then exaggerated on. For example, maybe they asked "What does Yuzuru need to improve on?"
Although it's interesting that Nobu and Dai have always been complimentary towards Yuzuru and they are from the Kansai region, whereas Akiko, Kozuka, and Shoma are Nagoya skaters?

Thankfully Yuzuru and Shoma seem to get along well, and deflect negative media questions.

By the way, when are the marriages scheduled? To be prepared ...
