I was minutes away from a presentation. I was in my last semester of uni, and i was watching the stream of ACI on my phone. When i saw him go out for the warmup i shouted "WHITE!" when i saw his pants. I thought he looked gorgeous. Then i saw the jacket and i just :dbana:
Even if the purple pants have brought me moments of joy and gratefulness towards the universe for creating something so beautiful,.... I still like the white version more than the purple one :)

Ah, ACI, that one time the COD wasn't a COD in runthroughs. And still the only time when the combo was jumped in the FS runthrough where it was originally meant to in the music.

Hi guys..

I'm sorry for what happened and for those who got hurt I hope you guys will feel better and don't feel too bothered about it. This should be a place where we can all be happy.. some kind of an escape from the wild, crazy life, or at least that's how it goes for me. I think some (or many) people can be so extra and too much for some reason. I feel bad for them because they wasted their free time to focus on being negative.. of attacking others and make others feel upset. What good will come out of it?? nothing, really. If that makes them feel good, then sorry for them that their life is that miserable. :noshake:

I don't understand why some people made such a big deal out of a kind of 'tribute', informative video.. I think they're just seeing black and try to make something out of nothing.. or maybe they're just so sensitive about Yuzuru. It doesn't make it right to harrass others and bring down others' effort to create such great video. I was mindblown by the effort and it helped me learn a lot of stuff I didn't know before. Again, it's unfortunate that people feel hurt just because of a harmless, informative video.

Anyway.. I still consider this place special.. despite everything. I understand it can be hard at times.. like a tree, the higher it goes, the harder the wind blows. I've learned not to take such stuff to seriously.. or at least try to detach myself a bit so I won't get affected too much because I know I can't have that. The reason why I still keep visiting this, despite not being able to post/share often is so simple. It gives me something I'd like to see/read and that it's entertaining.. I don't wanna feel burdened or upset by other stuff caused by other insensible humans. So yea.. idk if I really make any sense now I'm kinda going off a tangent I'm sorry haha.

Anyway I hope y'all can still enjoy being here and making friends.. because it'd be a shame if it's not. Furthermore, I still thinkg the positives outweigh the negatives.. so let's have strength together! :agree2:

To keep it on track/topic.. It's amusing to see Yuzu having fun at the athletes camp!! And his (and victim!Shoma) antics!!
I bet he's so eager to go back to practice. Still waiting to see if he'll end up doing any show at all.. whatever his choice is, I hope he's staying healthy and everything will go well!!

The costume :p haha seriously I was not ready to see him without his black pants.

I felt the same. Didn't believe my eyes at first. The costume revealing was unforgettable as well as revealing of the programs. I was watching the competition on my phone in the middle of the night and I got really nervous about everything.

Same :slink: But I think that's awesome too—it was a stretch for him but then he conquered it. Forget the combo, at Worlds it was one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen in my life. I haven't been to a rock concert in a long time, but it had that mood. One of the Olympic programs should have that same type of feeling.

I remember myself a little doubtful at first about this program (Chopin is more my type of SP), especially the first part, but eventually it evolved into an amazing one. My forever favourite is the GPF one because I saw it live and felt how the crowd (including me) literally went crazy at the end of it. I still can't think of any other skater able to do this program justice.

ETA If you compare the stsq from ACI and the LGC encore from WTT gala you'll see the enormous progress he made in 6 months.

Exactly my thoughts, can't agree more.

Yuzuru has star quality, only haters can deny it. The problem is that highly successfull people usually attract not only fans, but also miserable humans that don't have life of their own. I am sure they are in the minority, it is just their voices are too loud.

I want to repeat how much I appreciate the video and the amazing work behind it. Actually now I feel inspired to do something useful for this FF, I have some ideas for the off-season :)

Let's keep it positive, creative and fun place! :ghug:

Ok I just slogged thru that mess of a thread on the Edge. No wonder there's not much thread topic on Yuzuru in that forum if a simple sharing of video become such a crazy fight.

Is there a way to block posters from ever responding to a post of mine? I don't want to see some of those people to ever touch my posts.

I'm new to this site and I'm already disgusted.

To the maker of the video, I really appreciate all your hard work. I first saw the video posted on Tumblr and watched it last night. It's amazing.

I gave my speech today. Everyone really appreciated the "Efforts may lie, but won't be in vain" part. I literally, LITERALLY just repeated what he said, the quote and his reasoning behind it. But it seems like it touched many people, including the teacher in charge of my major and the principal. I feel really happy because i was able to pass some Hanyu wisdom to my classmates (again, they don't know where i got the quote from. They would have groaned LOUDLY if i said "I'd like to end this with a quote by Yuzuru Hanyu" )

So, unnecessarily held back? :laugh2:
Actually you're right. Because i tried to abstain from going into invisible mode lately :D

The point isn't that he is irrelevant or not. The point is every thread about him on the edge now will be sabotaged even if it's about the construction of his programs. They will always find a way to complain:
- why don't you guys make videos for other skaters? Only for Hanyu? Then this means nothing. (Hello darling why don't you make videos for your own favorites? Why would we waste time and energy for skaters we are not fond of?)
- making fun of our hardwork like: you guys have much free time, huh? I pity you guys. (Hello, jealous that your favorites get no passionate fans enough to do such hardwork?)
- the title is wrong!! World records are meaningless!! (Then where were you when your favorites were called as setting new world record?)

The comment about wanting Hanyu fans to post similar detailed analysis video for other skaters was ridiculous and disingenuous. They would have objected to it saying it was done by a biased Yuzuru fan and have no merit.

That thread disgust me. If there was a block function at least two people would be on it. Haven't made up my mind on one of the poster, the originator of the ridiculous thread derailment regarding naming of thread. I already had a previous run in with him/her and I've only posted 150 times and been here a whopping month. Ridiculous.

You can put people on an Ignore list, in Settings. Blocks people's posts but you'll still see posts that are quoted by others. Not sure yet if you get notifications if someone you ignored replies to a post of yours, though.

Phewww... :drama: I finally caught up with the thread ... 16 pg
First, welcome to the newcomers to the craziness, drama and joy of our fan thread! Post often and have fun!! :hap10:
I've seen that the thread on the edge was closed, very good IMO, because there are some posters in there who don't understand any reasons and their only purpose is to troll and bash. I've got this treatment from my first post in that tread and I had enough. Probably our YFA irritates them so much that they become unable to reason and disscus civilized. :disapp: Interspectator's initiative was bonafide, and I hope that the reasonable people understood it's means. In my opinion this analysis demonstrates that Yuzu's fans are capable of much more then fangirling and that Yuzu is in first place an amazing athlet and skater and his fans appreciates him for his skills in first place not only for his pretty face.
Thank you again, for the hard work of the people who made the video, is a masterpiece and I don't understand how other posters can consider it a loss of space and time. :thank: I, for once, have learned a lot about figure skating, generally, watching your work. :points:
On the other hand I'm happy that the mood in our thread lightened up a little. :)
I consider our fan thread a safe and warm place and it's not Yuzu's fans fault that other skaters don't have so many and devoted fans. Love you all guys, and keep up the good work. Thank you very much.

Hi everyone.

I've been lurking around this thread for over a month, and only recently got the guts to actually make an account here. I was pretty late in joining the Yuzu-lovetrain, probably only around 2013ish or whenever PW SP came out. At that time, I found the men's figure skating a bit of a downer, especially if compared to the Plushenko and Yagudin era ( I love both btw). So one day, randomly browsing a figure skating forum, I found people gushing over this little guy called Hanyu Yuzuru, googled him up, and fell instantly in love with him-the speed, the perfect jumps, the edges, the artistic pizzazz. For the jumps especially, probably everything I was taught for "rulebook perfect" when I trained in figure skating. Needless to say, never looked back and never regretted it.

Other than that, I'm from China, natively fluent in both Chinese and English. About male fans, well there are quite a number in China, the wechat group I'm in for my rink here has about 30ish (which is all the guys in that group).

For the annotated video, good gracious, you guys rock! Step sequences are so difficult to ID and annotate and you guys nailed it! And it highlights the artistic difficulty of that program. So please whatever happens, please do not get sad by the naysayers, please don't move.

Welcome Xen! Hope you post often, this thread can get kind of crazy but that is all because we are passionate abput skating and Yuzuru hahaha ;)

Anyway are you a skater? I know Yuzuru has many fans in China, but they are mostly on weibo so it is great to have more of his chinese fans around here

I can't do it on my tablet. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to get on that.

Where's the rest of him was exactly my thought when I was trying to record Yuzu during the 6-min warm-up at SC :laugh2:
I was mostly focusing on the camera screen and clearly my brightness setting was a tad bit too bright :slink: So the first few seconds after he dashed out from the side board all I saw was his head flying around the rink :jaw:

Lol, I think I can now look back at SCACI with a lot of warmth.

I was thinking back to that first open practice when I first saw Yuzu's run-through of H&L. At the time Yuzu skipped over some of the choreography and mostly did the jumps, but I remember that sense of beauty and that tingle of excitement I felt that day. In that run-through he had landed all the jumps but singled the lutz. When I think of the experience in Helsinki I realized that that performance was pretty much what I had been waiting for all season long, and that I had seen a glimpse of the brilliance in Montreal. It's just an incredibly fulfilling feeling after Worlds.

As for LGC, I remember the very audible gasp in the rink when Yuzu first stepped out. I sat across from the entrance so all I could see was the top and that the vest and sleeves were white. So I thought, "ok, white, top, this could be cool". Then the gate to the rink opened and he stepped on the ice and I realized the pants were white too! I think there was another gasp from the side of the rink I was sitting. Good times . I still miss that white costume, he looked cool in it.

Also... was it me or had the music for both programs been re-edited later in the season? I remember thinking the transition in H&L from his sit spin into the choreographic sequence felt very abrupt at SCACI but I didn't notice it the same way at Skate Canada or Helsinki.

Thank You to all who helped to make the H&L video, it was very informative. I'm not very good at the technical side of figure skating, for me it's more what emotions I feel when I see a program. That's why I often change favorite skaters (in the past). With Yuzuru, well thats another story.
So for me to see a video that explains everything was good. Although a slow motion version would be even better. I sometimes lack concentration so I keep going back to learn more and more.
Have you been thinking of doing this with other of his program like NHK Seimei? (please, please, if the summer gets boring and dull).
I learned more about figure skating in that one video, then listening to all the commenteries out there. It's a faboulos job you guys did.

So is this what is the start of the olympics season, well we need to stick together give our love and suppport to Yuzuru (and the other skaters). And say a prayer to the winter gods that this olympics will have a fair judging, cross our fingers.

to the creators of the H&L analysis video:
this is one of the BEST things i've seen so far so even if haters attack you for it, just know that many reasonable people, especially those who don't know much about figure skating, REALLY APPRECIATE the GREAT EFFORT put into creating that video

i have friends and family who don't even watch figure skating but then i show them yuzu's awesome SP, FS, EX performances and even THEY (who don't follow figure skating) are in AWE of yuzu

my dad used to watch skating A LOT (back in the plushenko, yagudin era) but had stopped after they retired

i show him yuzu's skating and it makes my dad think skating is worth watching again

my mom doesn't even follow skating but now and then she will ask me if yuzu has won anything (she thinks he's just beautiful and she always asks after him now LOL)

my friends don't follow skating either but then i show them yuzu vids and they all think he's awesome :)

(LOL i'm spamming my friends and family with yuzu love hehehehehe)

I will remebre ACI forever- there's no way I could forget the massive heart attack I had on the sight of white costume  I like both versions, but the white one will always be my favourite

I didn't notice changes in music cut in H&L (but there's a high chance I just didn't notice :p ), but I thought that LGC music cut was changed after ACI, but I never checked it so I might be wrong.

The video is great and I would be grateful for slomo version because my eyes and brain are to slow to fully understand everything :drama: Once again thank you for your hard work amazing people :points::gclap:

Thanks for posting here. ❤️❤️ I try to visit here once in awhile but don't always have time so thanks again! I have a front view of the LGC costume reveal...and will get that uploaded soon....

oh please do upload that!!!

i saw some small pictures of the white lgc costume (i think it looks great) but i wanna see it properly in motion

btw does anybody have HD pics of that white lgc costume?

OMG i second this comment so much!

i know it's a LOT of work but if you guys ever make a video analysis for seimei (or any other yuzu epic performance) it'll be soooo awesome!!!

i've watched skating for some time (dad's influence) but i don't know all the technical stuff about it, being unable to skate myself

i learned more about skating in fan made videos and analyses of skating than i ever have watching commentaries (also i think some commentators are very biased so i usually watch livestream version without commentary)
