Thanks for your feedback on the other thread though :) I'll bring the suggestion (excluding the GOE score for what the checked bullets would bring to avoid :taunt:) to Fayruza :sad4: who can pass it on to Yulia. I visually deemphasized the number (thin font, small text) expressly to avoid the underscoring narrative/outrage so that we can all focus on how otherworldly and outstanding that performance was. I think to that end we were actually pretty successful - most of the youtube comments were yuzu-focused and about as gentle as it'd get for a video with 100+ of them, and on niconico too, a lot of the comments were about how they felt a lot of "love" and unity around Hanyu from the video . We also posted on various figure skating-related pages on Facebook, and for those, the comments focused on it being a new way to understand the program, etc, etc. But to say the GS Edge rollout was unsuccessful would be an understatement :palmf: we live and learn... (and make SEIMEI?)

I didn't say this before - though I did share the video on my private Facebook, just because I love it - but really, thank you for that video. As someone who had only been watching figure skating casually before last December, to say it was eye opening would be a huge understatement (although parts of it still feel like Ancient Chinese necause I have no idea what all the steps are lol BUT it is a great starting point for learning!)

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm glad for the GOE score... I was very curious what people who know more about these things think he should have gotten. Actually even in the initial translation of the original analysis, I wished they'd actually added up the technical score - although I did end up trying to do it myself... - and maybe even tried a PCS analysis, just to get a better idea of how these are awarded. But just imagining what that would have resulted in... *shudders*

But yes, please, if you can find the time, do other programs as well!

(As an added side comment... I only used to watch ladies, pretty much, in the past, occasionally... I thought men - generally buff, bigger men - looked weird trying to be graceful, many times. Needless to say that when I saw Yuzuru it was  . But recently I also watched a few ladies programs and... they kind of felt empty to me, comparing to just HOW MUCH is going on in HnL - probably an unfair comparison, though. And it's not about the quads, since I still can't tell rotations apart to save my life. It's just the overall composition of the program. HnL is just amazing... I could be wrong, though, and it could be just my uneducated impression.)

I'm a little nervous if yuzu really wants to go back to Wilson for choreograph his fp but yuzu always prove me wrong so maybe they will do something great, who knows but still I'd love if yuzu stays with shae too, I just pray for a very dramatic music for his fp

I don't think if you make other analysis videos you have to totally get rid of the GOE marking but it might be worth being vaguer about it lmao. I had a post that got moderated where I compared the GOEs given on the scorecard vs the ones in the video and it's not like the 'fan given' GOEs were outlandish, for most you were in line with a majority of the judges, I can only think of two instances where the highlighted bullets/goe was notably generous nd even then there was always at least 2 judges that awarded the same GOE as your suggested GOE... The problem is the bullets are not all totally objective, there is a level if subjectivity. Maybe next time show the max points that can be awarded in GOE, the actual, and the bullets you think were hit with some differenciation between those definately hit and ones that could be applied but could be argued against and give a benchmark of what could be awarded according to the bullets met (ex if you think 6 bullets were met but 1 might be questionable the benchmark is +2~3, and the judge that only awarded +1 was being a grump lol).
I thought including the bullets, the goe that can be awarded by meeting them, the max and the actual was a good thing to include for people that want to understand how TES works. Just...some people want to make it something it isn't.

I think you guys did a really great job in showing how complex the program is and also making a video that new skating fans can use to practice spotting different steps, turns, jumps, spin positions and learn a bit about how the TES is judged.

:biggrin::thumbsup: the more shares the better!

I was pleasantly surprised by how the execution of this program and all its elements was quite unanimously praised by the commentators across the world. And many weren't fans of the program nor fans of Hanyu. That says a lot to me. Honestly, the ones I included in the video weren't even my favorite ones. Just that my favorites sounded too soothing... ^.^

https://info.skatecanada.ca/hc/en-ca/articles/202398574-Figure-Skating-Terms-Defineôd <-- this is ice dance, but definitions of steps are in there and very helpful when paired with a video example or two.

Now I'm not sure which is off-topic and which is not:(, but just to update news about Yuzu,

Here is the calligraphy Yuzu did on the first day of that training camp:
http://m.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2017/04/30/gazo/20170430s00079000206000p.html

Every athlete chose the most important Kanji for him/her, and wrote it down.
Yuzu chose 翔, which means "fly high in the sky (with wings)".
This Kanji is getting very popular among parents and used often in boy's names; 大谷翔平(Shohei Ohtani)

Others' chosen Kanjis can be seen here:https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20170430-00000518-sanspo-spo.view-000
Actually, calligraphy is quite difficult though we learn it at school. I am very bad at it:drama: Yuzu's is very neat, I think.

I don't think i am fully qualified to speak about this, but i find it adorable the way he writes the 生 character haha. Sometimes he makes it really small compared to the other characters and here it looks like he wrote one of the lines way too low hahaha.
I love the kanji he chose :)
Also, err... i'd rather have people pm us about the new home... The temporary one i think it's still members only because of some... threads :P lol but i'm already working on getting the permanent one ready for you guys.

Again I wake up to see a series of sad facts happened ... :( an important member of this thread/forum and one of the creators of that amazing educational vid was banned and others equally valuable members of this thread/forum are thinking of leaving the FF ... so sad indeed and such a shame that our fandom is harrased in this way...:disapp: I'm really depressed right now...hope you guys reconsider and stay ... Love you all!!! :ghug:

Well, Yulia didn't think any were questionable... otherwise she wouldn't have said he satisfied those bullet points. I believe she was looking at Yuzu's performance independently rather than trying to match with what the protocols where. She has always done her analyses this way, Seimei, Chopin... I mostly agree with the bullets she gave in this analysis, but it's totally fine to disagree with her opinions. By hopefully making everything more accessible, it's easier for anyone to reach their own conclusions, agree or disagree. I think that's a good thing. Anyway, like you said, some people want to make it something it isn't and beyond a certain extent, we can't control them

Hey guys, yes we are planning to make a new platform, but don't be so saddened by it and be gloomy :p
Think of all the new opportunity it might offer. You can make separate threads in the forum for stuff like : fanprojects, meetups during shows and competition, QnA about trips and competition, subbing and translation project etc etc and it would be less cluttered than hogging everything in the fanfest that could get buried with the speed of the thread is moving.
Some of us will still be posting here. But think of the new website that will be made for something like a Yuzuru tribute and a place for people interested in Yuzu to gather. I, for one, am confused why Yuzuru Hanyu himself have yet to have one (a running one, and an open forum, I knew there was one before but it is closed) because I am a general lurker to maoasadaforum.com and yunaforum.com. It is only a matter of time and I guess a thing or two like this is a necessary trigger to finally get us moving in making one for him ;)

I think a benchmark still might be a good way around it, just to hedge a bit even if you display the bullets the person doing the analysis thinks were satisfied in the same way :P maybe then other skating fans would be a bit less sensitive about it :P Like there were a few where I could probably guess which bullets some judges didn't feel were satisfied, but its understandable there would be some gap particularly if she wasn't paying attention to the protocol (still, it wasn't like it was wildly off except for the stsq goe but i also think thats the most subjective and isn't helped by how many people don't like the music and the subtle nature of the program)

It took me almost a full day to read the relevant thread outside Fan Fests where I'm usually staying with the fear for going to the rough outside, especially The Edge.

And, what I learnt through my slow reading.
- The video created by those knowledgeable and enthusiastic people is truly exquisite.
- There are always people who can't resist stirring up with their negative and cynical attitudes. When we happen to make opposite or different comments on or even criticize something, we have to choose words very very carefully ever, but such people just do the opposite, as if enjoying to cause backlashes giving others unnecessary unpleasant feeling. Very sad people.
- Those who posted freely with their valuable knowledge on figure skating have left or are leaving this place. It is still difficult to understand the situation, maybe by my poor ability in English, but it is too sad to say goodbye to them.

I'll see how this situation develops, and definitely cooperate in making free atmosphere in talking and exchanging information on FS together with nice people through what I can do by summoning up my courage when going outside.

Thank you again for such a great video. I have viewed it so many times by now, studying many things. All viewers are the totally same as me with praises.

I was a member of the late YHF and I was very sad when a saw that is not active anymore. I would love to be a member of a new one dedicated to Yuzu and Yuzu alone!

I have decided that I will stay. Next season is Olympic season. New people will come. Yuzuru needs old fans who know a lot about him and skating to support him as much as possible.

I woke up, checked the FF, saw a large number of overnight pages and thought something had happened in the world of Yuzuru Hanyu; instead one of our members got (temporarily?) banned. :sad21:

This is why I keep saying to not engage with certain posters. Passive aggressive and condescending comments are not bannable offences, but reacting to them can be, at least in here.

I'm a new member to this forum and even though I like to participate in other threads regularly (my 2k posts aren't solely in this FF after all; it'd be scary otherwise ), I do seem to end up in this fanfest more often than not, and I'd be sad to see most of the posters I like leave because of this. And yet, I can understand why they would feel unwelcome. I'm not particularly happy with this ban, temporary or not. (also, there's a reason I don't actually go around the forums with an uniquely Yuzu avatar if I want to be taken seriously here, and that says a lot about what I've learned of the 'mood' here since and before joining)

If there is a new forum being worked on, link me up please. I'd like to drop by on occasion, but I sincerely hope you guys still come here to maintain the history of this thread. Leaving is giving someone a victory they shouldn't get.

And to bring it back on topic, I guess, I wonder if Yuzu will do the last JOC camp day today. Though I've also read it was only a 2-day camp and not a 3-day camp?
