Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I remember he took some time after NHK to recover ?? and trained according to the schedule Brian left him ?

I think maybe it was NHK 2014 because they kept saying he was able to get some solid training in for GPF when he won. I vaguely remember he said he had to get back on ice for NHK and that it was painful, but he had to in order to be ready for the competition (which he didn’t do too well at).

It always amazes me that he went from his NHK condition to GPF condition in about 2 weeks.

I remember Brian once said he tends to peak very soon. Something like that even 2 weeks of good training is enough? can't recall exactly

Hope Brian left him equally painful but effective training notes while he's gone to Euros with Javi (and 4CC with Junhwan?).

Ohh I always did wonder what type of training regimen Brian assigned him back before 2014 GPF. I think TV showed a quick shot of one page of it.

I also remember Ambessi saying that during that time he was training by himself that he was doing runthroughs with his original 3 quads but did the simpler layout at the actual competition. In other words, he was going training 3 quads even if that’s not what Brian told him to do. Not sure if this was true but it’s something I can imagine, so I’m glad he’s at TCC where people can watch over his training.

Brian said in that interview he would give Yuzuru harder training than usual for GPF, but I couldn't read well on the paper

So what this means is that he was skating again in mid-December but now he's training full force (jumps and all)? I mean, Nobudari said Yuzu needs a couple weeks to regain his jumps, so I'm pretty confident if that is the case :)

My mind did a happy dance when I heard he had started training for real, but I will keep all expectations firmly in check. Just take your time Yuzu! :ghug:

My concern is stamina and endurance. He can be in peak condition very quickly, as has been remarked before by Brian, but the stamina needed for (full) runthroughs is going to be the issue, especially if he's still regaining jumps, which limits how many complete runthroughs he can have.

So glad that he is finally training :cheer:
I heard Jun plan to withdraw from 4CC (to focus more on Oly, including team event SP & men’s event), so Brian might be able to spend the important week at TCC with the boys, it’s going to be an important week, 3 weeks to the real gig. I wish JSF would let Yuzu skip as much PR and marketing work as they could before Oly, so that he could focus on his training.

Thank you for the information!

You know, when I read "Hanyu's related parties" or "Hanyu's side" in the articles, I always wonder "Who exactly?". But this article said Kobayashi contacted with Hanyu's side and his family, kind of glad to me that his family was included.

""We had a very bright conversation.", Kobayashi seemed to take it (the current situation) positively."

My only concern is his 4Lz
Is he still planning to put it in FS at this point?

Don't think anyone will know the answer to that one until the first practice of his free.

That, his stamina and lack of competitions are the three things that I find the true question marks. He'll recover the rest just fine, he's lucked out that he peaks quickly but stamina is equally important and nothing to be done about the last, apart from use the SP for the TE. It's something I guess. Fingers crossed.

I feel like we never know until the last minute :drama:

My opinion is that doing 4Lz is not realistic at this point, he will not retire after the Olympics and he still has many chances to try that jump along with 4A in the competitions (if he is healthy), so he doesn't need to be in rush.

But it is Yuzuru, and it is his life. Only I can do is wishing him for the best :dbana::)

This is today's morning newspaper and it looked back on how he fought in 2014 season. It said after CoC, he was diagnosed as he needed 2 to 3 weeks rest, but he started practicing on the ice 8 days later.

It also said Kobayashi didn't reveal the details of his training because she didn't want him to rush, and Seiko Hashimoto, who is the president of JSF, promised all support for him to be able to have the best performance.

He had just 3 days of training before GPF 14 and 10 days of training before WC 15 If I remember well.

Thanks! I read it but it has been quite awhile and forgot the details.
And look at that, such short period of training and see what happen. Especially at GPF 14.
So we have more than 10 days before Olympic. More days than what he had at WC15. All that matters is that he healed well.

In the two weeks between 2014 NHK and 2014 Barcelona GPF Yuzu trained in Japan and a miracle happened, after two years of non stop struggling he suddenly fixed the 4S, the take off became smooter and faster , 4S was effortless finally . 2014 GPF FS was absolutely amazing , I was in the arena and I couldn't believe my eyes.
From 2014 GPF Yuzuru's 4S started receiving positive GOE .
Miracles can happen.
