The medalist's press conference is live on YouTube right now. No translators so far, but the gist seems to just be thank you speeches from all the athletes!
 
At this point, it looks like to me he knows without seeing the doctor that it will probably take somewhat long time to be fully recovered from injury and he doesn't sound like he will compete in WC at all. But we'll see :)

It was funny when he was asked about being the captain of team Japan in the next Olympics, he had not prepare for answering that kind of question at all and the curling team and other athletes were also laughing at his reaction :laugh: And he said he was not interested in food so he would skip that question, it was typical Yuzuru :biggrin:

I have my doubts about him going to WC as well. But we’ll know soon enough. If he goes, it means his ankle has gotten better. If not, we’ll expect he’ll rest and we’ll see him later for the live talk show and ice shows.

Lol yes, he looked like “Ah...eh...” at that. :laugh: I don’t blame him I didn’t think journalist would ask him this already. I’d love for that to be true, but who knows if he’ll keep going until 2022. I guess it will depend on his health (which is the main focus) and motivation (he wanted two Olympic gold, and he accomplished his dream).

it’s a very detailed documentary with timelines and his plan towards the Olympic. It hurts to listen to him taking about the painkiller decision. I am so glad that it work out according to his plan, at the end, Plushenko’s estimation was spot on, 3 or 4 quads is good enough to get him the gold. (I love how he talks about the last 3Lz, it’s against the physics.)

Is working for me. His stament that he was to give a dream performance in his dream stage opens the video, them it focus in different segment of his two programs, the Pooh rain, and some description for the commentary (is it Hamilton?).

Tbh, I thought that was a given, ever since his first comments at the Olympics. I don't think it's a question of a long time, I think it's more a question of not making it an even longer time if he now continues training and competes, thus making it worse.

Better off ice for a few months, than a year.

The 23-year-old defending Olympic champion gave figure skating one of its biggest moments with a stellar short skate that marked his comeback and first competition since a serious ankle injury in November.

On painkillers, the supernaturally slender Hanyu - who even coach Brian Orser has jokingly referred to as “inhuman” for his steely determination and skating prowess - took steps out of his quad toeloop and triple Lutz but otherwise skated a clean, mesmerising free skate to become the first man in 66 years to win back-to-back golds.

“I‘m very lucky. I can now say with pride that I’ve achieved the pinnacle of my sport,” Hanyu told a news conference. “For me, skating is simply happiness.”

Hanyu’s legend wasn’t the only one to be burnished...

Agree! and 4A aside, I think he really need treatment so his ankle will not be worsen.
