Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Finally I found "Figure skate magazine (BB Mook)" at the bookstore today and read Brian Orser's interview, and I can say this is MUST read. I also read "Memorial" and "Kiss&Cry" but I chose to buy BB mook. I hope precious translator, gladi, will be working on this one, as a Japanese fan, I always thank her so much for her effort and beautiful works. If I translated this interview, it would take me a few weeks to finish it because of the lack of my English ability and time :drama:
...

・After SP in the Worlds this year, he and Tracy tried Yuzuru to pace down in the practice because he always has too many run-throughs after the bad result. They told him to believe in his daily training and Yuzuru listened to them, and it worked well. (I remember he left the rink earlier than usual on that day)

So my take after reading about the jumps, Yuzuru was thinking of not doing 4Lz at the time of media days, but Orser was not sure  The book has also Yuzuru's interview, he said he studied a lot for school in spring and summer and he liked anatomy.

Thank you for the summary and translation:cool2: I always love to hear from Orser and Tracy, they are very wise and caring.
I am also really grateful of gladi's work as well, it give so much insight for non-Japanese speaking fans :thank:

I've just found something regarding Yuzuru's costume for the Olympic season:

This Seimei-style is very similar to his costume choice in 15/16

I could imagine that he'll take this blue version for Pyoengchang

Blue has been a successful color in Sochi already, so why shouldn't it be a lucky choice once again? :hap10:

these costumes are so nice, but the flowing material will all need to be cut so that Yuzu can be aerodynamic. :)

I tried to fix the problem with the flowing material and drew this sketch of a Seimei costume 2.0:

(Proportions and face etc. to be ignored )

I actually really like this. Great job! I could see him wearing something like this, though the arm-braces should probably be more part of the sleeves than the separate part it seems in the drawing, just for ease and weight distribution.

Oh thanks! Yep, these arm-braces could be obstructive, especially with elements that require high flexibility like the Biellmann-spin. I know some extra-light and thin arm protection sleeves that could be sewn on the shirt, but I don't know, how comfortable they are and whether they are allowed in competion at all. It would be a pity to leave them out, though. I really like this mix of dark blue and gold

One thing I can say is that Orser is very confident in reusing SEIMEI. He said again and again that people (including the judges) would love it since the program looked fresh and Yuzuru was in the higher level now than two years ago, he also said he liked SEIMEI better than H&L.

Orser also mentioned,
・Yuzuru cut some choreos when he was working with Shae-Lynn and the step sequence became more delicate.
・He is glad that Yuzuru comes and talks to him positively now because the communication is very important especially in the Olympic season.
・Yuzuru has been testing 4Lz and 4A, but not much 4F. They have about two more weeks before they decide on the layout, they have to think what to do in the Olympics, nothing has been confirmed yet but it all depends on Yuzuru himself. They know they have to be smart and strategic.

I bet 100% we won't see 4A at the Olympic. It's too dangerous. However 4A in practice is good enough. It's like a legendary beat. I don't need to touch it. Just to see it once, even in practice.

:dance2: he will be name Mr. 4A, if he show it in competition sometime in future. I bet Mr. Orser will be thrilled.
