Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Did he intend to do 4Lz for his very first jump there? :reye:

That was--quite a number of popped jumps. I couldn't believe my eyes when he fell on his 3A, he always came back with 3A. I didn't feel '100% Seimei mode' too. He needs to exorcise figure skating demons.

I guess his knee is getting worse? Seeing how he struggled with edge jumps mostly. I believe he will recover and come back full force at us! It's still early after all.

Anyway, great job, Yuzuru!!

(Oh, most importantly, I hope he won't beat himself over this)

On a positive note he is going to use this defeat as motivation to kill at CoR. Isn't it what he always does after a defeat?

Is that a modified costume or is that the same old one?

It's a completely new costume, the fabric is lighter in a different colour and the embroidery is totally different.

:( BB.I hope this wasn't because of the knee injury...and even though he'll say that he didn't,he went for the 4lz, the set up was different to the one he did for the 3lz in practices.I think that pop affected his mentality and thus the popped 4T.

I'll wait to hear him before getting worried about the knee. Please rest!

Sorry, I just checked the thread's older posts after posting. I noticed that the color is lighter (former is more--creme?) and the pattern at the front is different. I thought yude said he was going to wear the old one for this competition because the new one couldn't be finished on time, though?

The difference is subtle, but it's nice, I like it.

and i think the top is shorter too
Yeah, it was. When he had his jacket on I was wondering why I couldn't see some lower part of the costume and whether he was not wearing traditional clothes.
P.S. Dear Japanese friends, what is the name of this clothing? I know it's not kimono but I can not remember the name, thanks.

Rough translation: he said he was thinking too much during the fs, had too much unnecessary thoughts. Will try to become a stronger self.

You can see how a mental thing can play with the performance from a great sportsman. But the purpose of going to Senior B event is to try thing out, find out what's the problem and correct it when it comes to the really important competition.

We worry when they perform well, we worry when they perform bad, we will just stay in the endless cycle of worry until they finish the season. :ghug:

A lot of material for the Japanese media, a WR yesterday, and a sliver today... sometime I wish he have less attentions.

I thought he kissed it. That was cute. What was he pointing at to Javi?

I think it's where the flags were, because the anthem was about to be played. As always, and exemplary sportsman (even my mom noticed it and she usually doesn't see this as much). I saw him linger rink side throughout Javi's FS.

Tough FS, but good thing it was a senior B and he seems to know what happened. I really hope it is not related to his knee and that he will come back stronger at COR. Go Yuzu! :cheer:

I don't consume that much off ice news of figure skaters, I don't mind having no news about them as long as they are well and able to perform. At the first place, they are athletes, not exactly celebrities.

(A bit OOT : okay--why do Misha still have 7s on his PCS--he deserves more)

As much as I love Yuzuru, I'm not really feeling the Seimei today.

I'm sorry for not being clear, I was talking about only the costume for SP.

I think it is called "Kariginu (狩衣)".

I see, I was just looking at his last season costume and thinking, even the temporary one he use for Fantasy on Ice don't look like today's one. I found a nice picture while I was looking at his old costume:

I am not sure if I like the new SEIMEI custom better ... the golden belt looks a bit too shiny for me.

Ooooh Yuuuzuuuu! But I was expecting it so I'm not too heartbroken...only half. This is just fine for the early season. Get that hunger for gold strong and create a good strategy for the next competition. My mom called me as soon as it was done and we comforted each other. At least, I have a big family who are fans who can share the drama with me. I also skyped my sister and we were like 'yeah, it's normal, he'll be better next time' at the same time, I was feeling soooo sad for Yuzu. You can see how much he hates losing.
