Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

The 4A would surprise me, but I really don't think it's going to happen next season. A 4-4 combo would surprise me however, or more than 3 quads in the second half would also surprise me.

Although the biggest unexpected surprise would be a 4F attempt

A 4-4 combo would surprise me from anyone because they're not worth it until ISU decides they want to adjust scoring to reflect combo difficulty better. The risk doesn't justify the reward. So it would surprise me if anyone decided they wanted to try that out, especially on Olympic season, when there's no reward for the difficulty involved.

A triple-4T combo might actually work in the post-Olympics season, with one less jumping pass, but still the risk/reward of a 3-4 combo would probably not be justifiable as long as it's not worth more than a 4-3 combo. And the risk of a 4-4 combo would be even bigger.

Not that I would mind -4T or -lo-4S combo from Yuzu at some point.

Something that is realistic and will surprise me will be 4-1-3 in an official plan, new quads, or 4Lo combination. (Most of all, repeated FS will surprise me most, but anyway) However no one consider chopin as a threepeat programme, so who knows?

The most surprising was that he said he felt like he could do it (and he sounded like it was easier than he had thought), he repeated about three times and I was like

I was having the same reaction like you :shocked:
We know it's hard for sportsman to work for extra few second in speed and extra 1 cm in height, but I guess we are in love with someone from another planet (planet Yuzuru) so anything it prossible with him.

Well, there were rumors he'd landed at least one fully rotated 4A at TCC, as told by Max Ambesi. So I've always taken that moment as Yuzu secretly laughing inwardly at being shown how to do a jump he'd already landed. Though I'm sure the visualization helped a lot since Yuzu seems to be someone who likes to visualize something being done correctly in order to adjust his own technique properly. He watched Mao's 3A before he landed his first one. He came to Toronto to train with Javi and Brian partly because he thought Javi had a great 4S technique and he wanted to study it. I remember him mentioning watching Patrick's SS so as to 'steal it'. And he's been watching Boyang's 4Lz very carefully since 2015.

From the confident look he have when he was talking about 4A from last season, it is actually likely that he already got 4A landed successfully, but have to polish it before that's good and stable enough to be included in a program. (Or to prevent other jumpers get overreacted.)

Another translation how cuts for SEIMEI and H&L were done. Poor Mr. Yano he had to do 33 versions for SEIMEI :drama:and wow , I had no idea that Ghibli was so strict about using their music.

Thank you so much for posting :)
It a nicely written and translated article, it's nice to know that Yuzu and everyone put so much effort into ice show! He must have really enjoyed it.

‘Come succeed me!’ That's will be interesting if Mura really pick figure skating sound editing as his way out when he retired.

Thank you! I've been wondering about how music editing for programs is done since forever, this is really interesting.

Yuzuru is the demanding client type I see with 33 Seimei done

https://twitter.com/annegreengd/status/883298895530311681 Here's an old Yuzu clip I'd never seen before. 2012 DOI opening. Cool. But he's gotten so much better since then.

Also 2013 DOI opening. https://twitter.com/tyugaeri/status/883336413353172992 how can he be in sync with the music so perfectly? That hand movement at 0:14 just made me sigh in awe. Not appreciating the camera change though, I would have loved to live in that hand movement moment more.
