Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Noto Suano recently gave a talk, and he mentioned some of his observations of Yuzu https://twitter.com/hirotiksst/status/891495341106675712

To a question, what is Yuzu like normally? -Normally, he's like that, except a bit more scattered. Very friendly. He remembers people he's only met once before, "You are ____ aren't you?" He has a good memory and great interaction (with people).
Do you speak in the Sendai dialect? -Not much. Except, in Sendai Dialect, "Ikinari" means "Very" but it actually means "Suddenly" right? When we eat something we say, "Ikinari Oishii" to each other.

This is a little bit I translated.

Yay!! I can stock up new phone wallpapers! (Not that my current wallpaper is much different, Notte Stellata Yuzu)

Sometimes I forgot he has asthma. He's--very brave, I'm at loss of words. I remember the first time I watched Yuzuru he looked like he was running out of breath and he could collapse any soon, it was scary (can't remember which competition, I wasn't into figure skating that time). It's so great to see that he's getting better.

Okay, I didn't know Yuzu's uni is Waseda. And didn't know a lot of things before this article. This is one of my favorite interviews now!!

It's impressive, it looks like he's truly living his life the way he wants to, only studying and learning things he's interested in, I can't even help but envy a bit. Even his major is still tied to his skating life. He takes notes everyday, he reads a lot of books, such a hard-working kid.

I call it my “skate notes,” but I’ll note that I did such and such practice, or I’ll just “bam” and write down that day’s scores, and also record my mental condition at the time. When I have trouble with my jumps, while of course there are technical reasons, but mental condition is also a big part of it. During these moments, I’ll flip through and reread my notes, and sometimes come to the realization that “Oh, I wrote such a thing then.”

I'm glad to know he's not ignoring even the smallest part of his feeling. He takes notes of this daily. He's not just honing his skill, he's taking care of himself well.

In university, I study human science, but recently, I’ve found the course on education very interesting too.

Okay does he have plan 'coaching' somewhere in the future?;)

its always amazing to see how he relate and apply everything he reads/learns/experiences with skating, one of many reasons i admire him :agree:

Several years ago, he said it would be good if he could be a temporary coach in something like summer camp, but that thought might have changed after learning a lot at university ;)

The original source says there will be video of Yuzuru testing P&G product again in September, I wonder what he is going to use. Shampoo sounds interesting but not going to happen

A shampoo commercial? That's an idea... Would probably be as tame as his bath commercial.

New issue of P&G is out. Yuzuru’s Private Life Part 2 “How he spends his off time”

The first thing the pop into my mind was: gaming (you know how Nino from Arashi just openly admitted that he is a game-taku and spend whole day to play game when he is off), I was very wrong, what a hard working person, sorry Yuzu. :p

I was thinking about 'coaching' as well when I was reading the article :o: seems like a prefect pathway to prepare him to be a great coach, maybe in 10 years time :dance2:

Happy August! I think this will the be month when we will get to know his new LP. Can't wait to find out! :)
