My worst fears have been realized while I like Semei he's already pushing it by using Chopin for a third time and now he's reusing Semei. Hanyu's not bringing any new programs the table while his competitors are. In my opinion this might just seal his fate with the judges. I hope this decision doesn't come back to haunt him. I'm disappointed I was hoping for a new program.

It's disappointing that he would bring back 2 programs that he already skated to their max potential. I agree that this might not be the best move with the judges because they already have a set bar to compare these two programs to. Still wishing for him to have a jaw dropping Olympic season, but disappointed that he isn't bringing new programs onto the ice.

I've been tweeting about my guess on Seimei 2.0 for a while and he's really doing it. I'm happy because it's a legendary program and I know he can take it even further. He's Yuzuru Hanyu.
I can't deny that I want to see something new from the eccentric kid too, I was a bit disappointed at his choice for Chopin 3.0 because, well, three times. But after seeing the new Chopin 3.0, it didn't really matter. He keeps on improving. As someone in the thread has said, he's skating for himself, he's not in the Olympics to entertain us. Bringing Seimei to Olympics will be a 'commemoration' for his career and his nation, it's a program with 'sacred' feel.
I'm only thinking how we have two programs with 'intense' feeling now. Let's Go Crazy/Hope & Legacy combination was fun and dramatic, a nice contrast. I wished for something new for SP and Seimei 2.0.
I hope we'll hear about his EX soon. And anything from Bourne/Wilson.

Honestly I'm not worried about the judges scoring it down for being repeat programs (if they score him down my guess is it's because of other reasons). If the commentators are any example, the judges probably have the memory of a goldfish, and I don't think each judge has seen this program as often as we, as his fans have. I think as long as the quality is there (and maybe if he throws in a lutz) that he will get scored well.
I always thought he'd do Seimei again for the Olympics. I think Chopin was the unexpected repeat, and it probably had more to do with his inability to skate LGC cleanly than anything else. I'll just wait patiently for new programs next season and tell myself that his job as an athlete is to make sure he gains points and win gold medals, not necessarily to explore different programs (he's done that with the free skates the last 2 seasons and LGC).

If my ancient brain is not failing most Olympic medals were won with recycled programs, not going far ,even in Sochi kostner and Sotnikova's were recycled, Chiddy's 4 seasons were recycled for the 3 rd time .... I don't think judges even remember how many times program is skated. He is planning 5 quad layout, new quad is on horizon, I preferred new program but whatever he thinks will help i will support. On better note I don't think he will retire with 2 old programs

My initial reaction to Seimei announcement was slight disappointment, and with the long wait to announce a repeat it feels very anti-climatic. I could have actually got work done today rather than clamored around. And I have some Boston PTSD because Seimei was my first experience seeing Yuzu live. The only redeeming quality for me would be to do a 4 lutz successfully. But as I thought about it, it seemed like a program that was too good for what it got in Boston. It just felt incomplete and unresolved to say goodbye to the program on that note. And if it takes the Olympics to deliver the type of skate he intended in Boston, then I will gladly take that over something new. He deserves that skate and he deserves it on the biggest stage there is. Watching him skate Seimei to perfection on Olympic ice in person will absolutely be worth it for me. And yeah, he avoids warhorses this way. He's paving the way for his own warhorse . Overall I'm still not super crazy about it because I want him to do new and epic things (I'm just greedy that way), but I understand it, and if he's going to repeat it makes sense to do it with the record breaking programs. I would say I'm taking this better than I took the Chopin announcement, and if I had to compare I'm still more meh on that one but I want to see it clean regardless.

He has tried many things during this past four years and on Olympic Season he accumulate the result of those four years it comes in the form of Chopin and Seimei. He wanted to stabilize his program and go clean every performance and this is the strategy that he has chosen. Is he a coward? Is he not bringing new program to the table compared to other competitor? We will see if his decision will define that. To master a new program takes time to be comfortable, just look at the progress Parisienne Walkway made. Is him having a new program is exciting? Yes of course, the mystery of new song and new choreo movement and jump layout but then at what price? Disagree all you want but the one who has to train it is Yuzuru not these people who only knows to criticize from the PC. I wish Yuzuru luck.
On the other note, I noticed he seems to focus on emphasizing his edges in movement and the flow of his blade more, it was obvious in the flow out of his jump. His arm position during jumping seems to change a bit as well, it's more wider now. But he seems solid overall. Can't wait to see what happen in AC just month away.

Not true. Many competitors are recycling programs and/or themes at Olympics, Javi and Shoma included. It has happened in Sochi as well (Patrick, Carolina, etc...), so I wouldn't worry. He already proved that Chopin 3.0 was different, I know he'll do the same for Seimei 2.0.
I wonder about the costume, tho. He'll probably upgrade it too, since he did it a few times for Chopin.

Hihihi, that 4S+3T really bothers him, doesn't it?
He could include the 4S as a solo jump and put both 4T into combination, but that would be way too comfortable 
Theoretically he could keep his 3Lz instead of including the quad, but it's not likely that he lowers his base value compared with H&L, true.

Yuzuru playing it safe, who would've guessed. Could be the right strategy, if he's really in the best form, once the season starts. I'm actually still more meh about Chopin part 3.0 than Seimei, at least a Seimei 2.0 makes sense. But both? Seems like a repeat of a certain season to me. But the message is clearly, focus on the tech. Nothing can top NHK's Seimei for me so I wonder.....

Yep. The time for perfecting that quad lutz is later on, after playing it smart & winning the OGM for himself and his country again. Priorities!

No, he's doing the smart thing focusing on the tech. But program wise it is playing it super safe.

And now that we know it is Seimei 2.0, I'm just sitting here praying "don't mess up the costume, don't mess up the costume, the 2015-16 one was so amazing!"
